How to make other creatures playable?
« on: November 24, 2008, 07:27:37 pm »

I was wondering exactly how I would go about editing a creature such as a demon or dragon to make them playable. I know I would have to add some kind of "playable" tag, but I don't know exactly what it is, and I'm not sure what tags I would have to use to make it work. Any help would be appreciated.

This being Homestuck, I'm not sure whether that's post-scratch Rose or Vriska with a wig.

Before a creature can be used, it must have a [CAN_CIV] or [INTELLIGENT] Tag, and must have a place in the entity file as well.

I can see it now. Entire Fluffy Wambler Civilizations!

Dip Stick! The newest candy! Just dip it, then lick it!
Or try FUBAR! The best chocolate bar ever!
And you can't eat them, either, sadly. Even though it'd make sieges so much more fun; dwarves lining the walls, drooling and carrying sharp knives and forks, ready for the upcoming meals.

You can set no BIOME or other important info for the civilization for it to never show up. The craetures will be playable still with the same civ. picture as in the vanilla game.

YES.

Did anyone ever manage to get that wagon fort off the ground?

Its not so great it needs to be stuck, a quick glance at the token descriptions in the wiki explains it.

If I put CAN_CIV and CAN_LEARN under my own race, but I DONT put INTELLIGENT or CAN_SPEAK, will I automatically be at war with everyone when I embark?

I really want some carnage to go down, but aside from never getting caravans, removing INTELLIGENT and just adding CIV and LEARN doesnt make Elves, Humans, or anything else attack. I simply dont see them.

Indeed, but how many people end up reading them? According to the numerous posts here, not many.

It still shouldn't be stickied, instead people should say something along the lines of "Be sure to check the wiki first next time" or something like that.
