After a couple days of playing, Brill is now in the green, and I've got a shop and ranch now.

Man, this game is easy, even if you have -80 Karma. And The Diablo.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

If you have a super weapon, it gets easier... The diablo is nothing compared with the ether dagger tho. >.> ... Usually has two extra [#####+] damages and a [#####] resistance.

How's everyone getting the diablo? Collecting all static medals and trading?

I learned about guilds a few days ago, and was heading to the Fighter's guild guy in Port Kapul, hoping for some easy target monsters. On the way I got a dialog that said someone was assassinated. No big deal, I thought. I got that all the time.

But when I arrived, I saw a meat and some items on the stairs... he dropped his corpse (ice-boxed), armor and sword!

For the record, my armor was:

a blessed bone banded mail [3,11] 7.8s
It is made of bone.
It is fireproof.
It modifies DV by 3 and PV by 11.
It grants your resistance to nether. [##]

And he gave me one with 35 DV.

My weapon was:

a bone long sword+1  (2d9+1)(3) 1.8s
It is made of bone.
It is fireproof.
It can be wielded as a weapon. (2d9 Pierce 5%)
It modifies hit bonus by 3 and damage bonus by 1.
It grants your resistance to nether. [##]

And he gave me one with 3d7 with fire damage.

I think I should thank those assassins... and I will be paying much more attention to them from now on...

Am I the only person who is getting ether Mutation for no reason while wandering around? It's happened to me twice and it's starting to piss me off.

Torak, do you have any ether equipment? Because that causes ether disease.

Also, I discovered that the mutation dream can also cure mutations. Because I ate a bunch of human flesh and got a mutation that let me eat it without consequence, then I had a mutation dream and it went away.

Being a cannibal is cool because you absolutely love human flesh. When you eat goblin flesh, it says that you wish it was human flesh. I got the mutation back in another dream, and it's pretty sweet.

Nope, all my equipment is not ether. I have a bone panty though, but I think that resists Nether and doesnt count as ether.

Any contact with Ether will cause corruption. Maybe not now, but certainly it will. Ether equipment makes it happen faster.

Contact with Ether is any time you spend out of a shelter/home/dungeon while there's an ether wind going on. So it's certain all characters will have some level of ether disease.

I also wield ether equipment and it doesn't seem to cause any corruption until you had contact with ether. In my case, I haven't had any contact with it since I took a cure potion and I haven't had any disease effects in a while.

Hey, does the Axe skill increase your effectiveness with halberds, or would that be under polearms?

Also, the wiki pages on the weapon skills need to be more informative. They should at least show each kind of weapon that the skills are used for, but only the Short Sword page does.

halberd's increase polearm skill, i know that after buying one to test, given i wanted to trade for a very nice halberd for my axe using warrior pet, from some adventurer or other.

i'm suprised to see this topic going still.

From what I've heard, the disease spreads even if you've never been caught in Etherwind.  Etherwind speeds up the disease greatly, but like in ADOM, it spreads no matter what.

So I found out what golden bells do: kill one and you get a load of gold. I got 3500.

Also, where is the thieves' hideout? It says near the graveyard, but I searched the entire graveyard and there's nothing around the graveyard.

And where are the orc warriors I need to kill to get into the fighter's guild? Does a level 9 stand a chance against them?

The thieves hideout is in the NE corner of vernis, there should be a set of stairs leading down there, if you have talked to Shena and accepted the quest.

The orcs are just random enemies.  Puppy diving might get you some since they don't sound like they are that high of a level. Otherwise just try random dungeons.

Possibly yeah. I just haven't had it happen yet. Maybe I'm lucky with it.

And as for bells, silver bells are great, they drop platinum coins.

Ugh, I got hit by the etherwind and now I automatically drink random potions every once in a while.

Also, there's an uncontrollable alien plague in Vernis. I can't stop it. Whenever I think I threw sulfuric acid on the last pregnant person, another alien pops out and impregnates three more people. I can't go there anymore because the aliens can kill me in one hit.

And how does the Gene Machine work? All I know is that it splices different allies, but I'm not sure how it splices them. Should I just catch random stuff and splice it with other random stuff?
