Is There a Way To See The Source Code?
« on: August 15, 2008, 09:50:07 pm »

*See Title*

Also, does anyone know what scripting language it is in?

*crosses fingers for C++*

The only reason I ask is because I would like to add a few things that are currently not doable, especially with the 'Raws'.

No.

No.

Not going to happen. The only way to add things to the game is modifying the raws or making your own third-party memory editing utility.

Uhh... Isn't this exact subject why there's an article called Memory Hacking on the wiki?

There is a way to see the source code for DF. However, it involves a black balaclava, a sack of door knobs, and one very concussed and angry developer. More trouble than it's worth, really. And I hear he as a brother who's Flying Shadow Dragon Kick can kill from twenty yards.

The people over at PPM are cracking Red Alert 2, I dont see how its impossible if the person has enough determination and skill to try and dis-assemble it.

Although its going to take several years atleast.

Speak proper English you cannot.
Rough translation:
...I can't understand it either.  I think he's trying to say to wait until Toady shifts more stuff over into the raws?  And that that's Toady's intention?
God, it's like trying to read something a first grader wrote: not gonna happen.
No disrespect meant.
But as for the OP, no, Toady will NOT release the sourcecode.
He has said so repeatedly.
