When I read the thread title I wondered if this was about fume induced hallucinations. The bad kind, you know. (thus the capitalized "HELP!" part)

Now I discover you're all already at distilling goats and smelting cows.
So, to sum it up, this whole thread actually went pretty much as I expected.

Personally I would advise to take a deep breath and repeat the syllable "aum" or "om" a few times, concentrating on it's sound. When the good things show up, just ride the wave.

I figured someone had discovered pitchblende and was worried about radiation.

I'd like to think it was the ambiguity of my headline combined with a sense of urgency that brought you all here.

Wasn't there something on the wiki about smelting cows?

Yep.  That was from an ancient experiment where an intrepid modder was attempting to make a creature from the smelter reaction list.

It was that experiment that discovered the fact that smelters cannot create creatures larger than vermin.  This was found out when a couple newly-forged dwarves were made and the cat came by and ate them.

Hmm... If smelters can produce vermin, and some fish are considered vermin...

Mine for fish? Hell I'm still trying to figure out how to distill a goat.

you have to turn the fire up higher, then it turns black and finally becomes black and charred, then you add alcohol and trow the vial on a spike trap to mix it all properly.
After you are done with that distill the alcohol from the vial and voila, you have distilled goat  8)

Alright, I made a "fishstone" that can be smelted into turtles. The turtles still don't drop shells, stupidly. But at least I finally figured out how to mine for fish.

Maybe turtles don't drop shells if I capture them via kennel rather then fish for them via fisherdwarf... Maybe if I flood the smelter...

I always assumed it came from VGCats. First place I ever heard it, and he made T-shirts.

I thought this thread would be about nobles, too.

So will this roast disappear at some point? Because a way to make permanent rotting objects is just what I need.

If you need a permanently rotting object I can recommend caging a zombie. :D

Stupid things stink up the place like Nobles with the immigrant wave..
