Cetric Masses Master Cetricity Storage
The big development during this era wasn't anything fancy. But rather, the first capacitors to replace the use of Charged Blubber Jars. With advancements in technology, Ichor was eventually refined into a compressed crystal. With an orichalcum rod used as the conductor it was a solid cetricity storage that could be drawn upon whenever it's power was needed. Banks of this crystal would greatly improve life across the nation. Construction of a great bank began in the Ziggawatts, to provide power to the entire nation through a grand storm calling ritual, so that the light would never need to go out.

tl:dr: Solid state batteries. The ultimate in energy storage. Ziggawatts build up large banks of them and call down lightning to charge them all, providing a large amount of power each storm for essentially free.

You may not think this cool. But this is what peak cetricity looks like~

Mag pulse drill
As industry sprang up in all corners of the empire the demand for raw materials and metals skyrocketed. One enterprising project in the far south of the Bay 12 territories was the mag pulse drill. This large structure was built so it could disassembled, moved and then reassembled relatively easily. Though it still took a lot of labour to move it. It used pulses of extreme magnetic force, alternating between repulsive, attractive pulses to work ferrous metals out of the ground. It would rip ores out of the ground send them away down the cargo chains back towards the inner areas of the empire. It could work untill all available ore had been extracted and then it was broken down and moved to a new spot.

It was a fast and effective means of pulling ore from the ground and the resulting free flow of materials allowed for a wealth of new industries and an economic boom.

Rebirth of the Woven
Project Rebirth is a means of creating an electrostatic brain capable of acting as a human, then transferring the bio-cetricity of a person to it. To transcend flesh and become as immortals. To do so, a lot of studies have been done on lightning whale brains in particular, studying hw cetricty charge flows through them when applied. The brain of the operation is made from orichalcum engraved with acidic whaleblood and filled with crystalized ichor, with careful marks to act as circuits. This allows the mind to be stored within, theoretically. Layered in a non-conductive shell and filled with electrode contact points, the body is no longer limited to a single life, the mind continuing onward to the NeXT.

Storm mover array

As the people of the confederation expanded south the sky became clearer with storms becoming less and less common, and although a ready access to lightning from the sky became less critical as tech advanced and with the weakened position of the priesthood the problem have less religious impact then it would have been in days past, the people of the confederation still prefer the embrace of the clouded sky with them. Luckily this is a problem our current tech can somewhat handle.

The Storm mover array is an array of coordinated large whalelock cannons each strong enough to shoot the large sky moving projectiles into the clouds, the real magic is done by the projectiles themselves.
The projectile is built of four parts, an iron shell composed of the button and the side parts of the projectile touching the rails which is used to lunch the projectile, an Ichor core inside an iron cage and an Orichalcum core, those two cores and shell are tied together with loose whale leather rings and separated from each other by a weakly stitched together whale leather pieces which is tied by rope to poles firmly stuck to the ground.

Shortly after the projectile is shot the ropes got tout and tear the stitches connecting the whale leather apart and pull the pieces our of the projectile, allowing all three main parts of the projectile to have full contact with each other, when the Orichalcum cores across the projectiles were charged, they created a common magnetic field fixing them in place relative to each other, and as the iron shell got charged it got hotter.
As the hot iron shells got near the cloud the air around them heated up, pushing the air and the clouds in all directions, the formation of the projectiles ensured both that the cloud was pushed in specific direction, and as the area heated by some of them cooled down and drew air back there were new projectiles heating the air closer to the cloud ensuring the cloud itself wasn't pulled back.

Mutaxol:
The Twelvers ruled the northern half of the continent, but some of their citizens... began to question their allegiance to distant coastal cities. Of course, society was dependant upon whale-stuff imported from said coastal cities, so most people recognised that rocking the boat would do them no good. But those who didn't caused trouble, especially as increased industrialisation led to inland regions gaining greater prosperity- they began to argue that they could survive alone. Occasionally, they needed to be reminded of the benefits of cooperation. A bullet to the head served well to clear their thoughts.
Furthest south, the Twelve Bay Confederation did not take any risks. An uprising on the border could potentially be exploited by the southern barbarians to expand their territory, so forces were constantly stationed in the region to discourage disloyalty and quickly put down anyone who didn't get the message. Naturally, these permanent armies could only be led by Wovenmen. Which... was a problem.
The Wovenmen, pinnacles of the Protectors, felt the pressure of modernity just like everyone else. With thunderarms becoming more and more efficient, their status as Protectors became more and more symbolic- their crude augmentations no longer provided an unbeatable advantage on the battlefield. In the Twelve Bays themselves, this was harder to notice- not a lot of conflicts in which their inadequacy could be demonstrated. In the south, though, it became glaringly obvious.
So, after many centuries of making only incremental improvements to their implants, a council of Wovenmen finally permitted radical new research in the field.
MECHANICS
The scientific establishment was unleashed. They demystified the Wovenmen, isolating the substance that allowed their crude techniques to work at all. Dubbed Mutaxol, extracted from Whaleblood through alchemical processes, the substance enabled flesh to be shaped and bonded to other materials. This allowed for new, safer, more extensive, more powerful implants to be designed. These implants were developed in the border regions, both because that allowed them to quickly be tested, and because it kept them as far away from the existing Wovenmen as possible- though they had recognised the need for reform, they didn't like it.
Whaleblood tattoos made way for Orichalcum implants that gave far greater control over cetricity. Crude flesh-pockets were replaced by sterilised injection ports, where alchemical serums could be safely introduced to the body in controlled dosages. Some even created entire prosthetic limbs, connected directly to the nervous system, with full range of motion- and some extra hidden fun stuff, like built-in whalelocks, blades, or ichor truncheons. They even- at the insistence of the Wovenmen- designed improved self-destruction devices, both more reliable (harder to trigger accidentally) and more potent.

When the Wovenmen elders saw what science had wrought, they were forced to acknowledge its superiority. Future generations of Wovenmen would adopt more and more of these innovations, reclaiming their position as peak Protectors.

Entanglement Engines (with pieces taken from Cloud Ships under permission of D7)

Quote from: Quote from: Cetromagnetic Properties of Whale-Derived Materials, 2nd Edition, by Abundant Papers

"Just as splitting a magnet in half between its north and south poles only results in two new bipolar magnets, a similar phenomenon occurs in orichalcum. A body of cast orichalcum, split into multiple pieces after solidification, retains a material "memory" of its former wholeness. The reasons for this are still under wide debate [...]"

"Furthermore, arranging multiple such pieces of so-called "entangled" orichalcum in space and briefly energizing them in a connected circuit encodes that spatial position into the orichalcum's internal electric field. Applying a current to any one of the newly "pinned" pieces of orichalcum will cause the whole array of pieces to return to their original configuration as though a rigid connection existed between them."

"The strength of the connection between these pieces is dependent on the magnitude of the provided current. A weaker current results in a less rigid connection, such that even small outside forces might dislodge the pinned orichalcum from its position and cause a structural failure. Intuitively, this means the effect only lasts so long as one or more entangled piece is powered. Because this effect relies on the field being able to induce a charge among all linked components, a linkage cannot be maintained at an indefinite distance, and maintaining a greater separation without failure requires more power."

It was the explosion of industry fueled by the Red Revolution that caused even deeper views into the properties of the miracle material of Orichalcum. It was the shipwrights that first came to use the entanglement properties of Orichalcum to their benefit, the expansion of the Confederation southwards required an extensive line of rails to be built to deliver supplies and ship goods between settlements, but Chains were hampered by their reliance on an outside accelerative force to move down their rails. The great highway of the Interbarrial River Network ignored due to its swift northern flowing current preventing larger cargo ships powdered by sail and oar from navigating its pathways. A solution was found a pair of inventors, Tetlacatl an educated man from the great northern cities and Huitznahuatl a native Monsooner woman who had grown up in the southern settlements sailing the River Network and had designed some of the few classes of traditionally powered ships that could sail up the river towards the Vale.

Tectactl had discovered the properties of Entangled Orichalcum (hereafter referred to as EO) worked with Huitznahuatl to construct a ship capable of using its properties to sail up the river up its own power. A set of steel pistons arrayed inside a block of cylinders and connected to a crankshaft was placed inside the heart of a wooden ship, the heads of each piston made from EO and entangled to a position at the lowest extent its piston could travel with each piston offset so that they would each reach the furthest extent of their travel at a different time. At the top of the cylinders was a diode connected to an ichor battery, when the pistons were manually spun by the help of a starter arm the first EO covered head would reach the diode and become charged activating its entangled properties and forcing the piston downwards for the brief moment it is being powered by contact with the diode. This downwards motion would by virtue of being connected to the other pistons by the crankshaft have them also come into contact with their own diode repeating the process.

After this process was started the pistons would continue to cycle inside their cylinders until the battery ran out of power or was disconnected manually from the engine. Connecting the crankshaft of the new Entanglement Engines to a paddle wheel and in later days a propeller allowed a ship to sail up the river network even with a full load of cargo, this process soon being copied by Chain builders that connected them to a pair of large wheels with teeth on either side of the carts that interfaced with a pair of mundane iron rails with corresponding grooves cut into them for the teeth to connect with set one on either side of the main Orichalcum rail, allowing the Chains to move large amounts of cargo under their own power as well as industrial centers across the Confederation began to use Entanglement Engine powered machinery that increased the productivity of finished and precision goods tenfold. It was truly the dawn of an even greater age for the Confederation.

I really do want to get Entangled Orichalcum done, probably next turn, but even though prelim precedent would suggest that it wouldn't be a super big deal, I am pretty tetchy about applying the guaranteed 2 roll to something so potentially critical and potentially finicky. Fucking up cyborgs is both extremely funny and sort of not that big a deal since we have a much wider base of tech for them and can even fix them up in the game proper if we need to.
