The Survival of The Shellfolk | For the Lauv of God

I got inspired by that gnome village game that died earlier. So I decided to make my own, but with a twist.



You play as a group of Shellfolk. They are as follows.

For short, you play as sapient, carnivorous, walnut aliens with googly eyes, an anglerfish lure between those eyes and many electric and venomous tentacles that act as both arms and legs. You are quite small; only 30 centimeters or so in diameter. You are in late neolithic, which means you can craft weapons and clothes made of stone and leather.

Your objective is to survive.

You can do 3 things per turn. No dice will be rolled for mundane stuff like walking, eating or talking, but it will for things like hunting, foraging.

You join in by making Shellsona a character. You can name and describe it however you wish. It will not have an effect on gameplay.

Okay, you are good to go. People may join at any time as newcomers to the tribe, and you may get NPC migrants as well. You can order them around to do stuff without spending your own actions.

I will post the first turn once 3 people come in. Don't post any actions yet.

You have been walking for a day. Your journey has taken you to a rocky clifface of rouch basalt. You are exhausted, hungry and dehydrated in both ways, but you have managed to get to where you had planned to. You have some leftover food and water, but they won't last you much.

You put your almost empty leather sacks and tentatively observe around you with sharp bone spears at tentacle tips, using a mixture of echolocation and sight. Below the imposing cliff you are currently standing in front of, is a sparse, rocky, uneven grassland, filled with stray rocks and boulders and intersected with frozen streams of lava. This sloping area descends down to a churning, steaming, bubbling sea a hundred meters away. A bunch of Sacktrees are seen riding the wind, low to the ground. The sky is cloudy and is completely shrouded, but also as bright as it can be. It is hellishly hot and humid.

The scene would look primordial to a human. For a shellperson however, this is all they've ever known. This is their day-to-day world. The group starts their survival efforts by taking down those sacktrees they saw earlier and dry the corpses in the heat, gaining precious fuel in the process. They light a campfire with some of the fuel. The fire burns high, and so begins a new story.

Alright now that the exposition is out of the way, we can clear a few things.

The game takes place sometime between the turns 34 and 35, when the volcanic hotspot was hyperactive. You play as the shellfolk of that era, and all the other creatures of that era also exist. You can drink both saltwater and freshwater.

A workshop, a fireplace and all things alike can only be used 3 times per turn, across all people. This is for individual workshops- if you have enough of them, you can do whatever.

You can now begin.

By the way, being able to permanently store resources in sacks is for the beginning only. Once you have storage for all resources, it won't happen. Think of it like the starter wagon.

We're going to need a lot of rocks. I'm going to go forage for rocks and woodfuel while hunting for food. That's three things
