Should gun ownership rights belong to the original design, or should revisions create "new guns" with individual rights?

One design, one right - a gun and all its revisions only belong to one person at a time.
Each revision creates a new gun with rights different from the original.
I have no opinion.

ACTACTACT

Bid: Unknown Buyer #27
Weapon: Valor Compact Sidearm
Pitch: Singular Design is an expert in radical weapons. The Valor Compact Sidearm is a striking weapon that's not only easy to conceal, it also has quite the muzzle flash perfect for making a statement.

Bid: Mundo Border Patrol Office #30
Weapon: Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1924
Pitch: Singular Design makes simple effective weapons. Easy to use, clean and shoot while also having 14 rounds so you don't need to count ammo, the Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1924 just works.

Bid: Socialas Defense Force #29
Weapon: Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1924
Pitch: It doesn't matter how many rounds a gun has or how fast it can fire them, if its jammed. The Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1924 might have fewer rounds then its competition but it can fire multiple magazines without jamming, you also have a spare hand to inspire the common soldier with your Shashka.

NOPE LLC would be overjoyed to fulfill this clearly tailor-made bid that clearly had nothing at all to do with recent events at Mariti Naval Headquarters or any that may or may not have occurred within the Mariti branch office of NOPE LLC. Nope, nothing going on at NOPE in that respect, nosiree...

NOPE LLC manufactures one unit of NOPE Repeater M20*. NOPE LLC manufactures two units of 7.65x40mm NOPE LR.

Bid: Mundo Border Patrol Office #30
Offer: NOPE Smasher M19B
Pitch: Buy our revolvers. Nice and simple.

Bid: Socialas Defense Force #29
Offer: NOPE Smasher M19B
Pitch: This excellent weapon is incapable of jamming, and is quite similar to the weapons already equipping officers. Its light weight will be appreciated by these leaders of men.  The short length is ideal for trench fighting.

Winter, 1925.  Design Phase.
GM Note: When posting a bid for a contract, it'd be convenient for me if your weapon description was included in your post so I don't have to search for it.  I don't have a centralized inventory for everyone's designs and revisions.

ALSO: please remember to actually include the name of your company and the WEAPON YOU'RE SUBMITTING to the contract.

Socialas begins making slow, grinding headway through the Paupertas border, though the going is slow and some early Socialas tanks end up stuck on the difficult terrain.  The Ku Klux Klan holds a parade in Washington DC - a few are brandishing the KashKow Kicker, acquired from overseas.  Mount Rushmore is dedicated in South Dakota.  The first surrealist art exhibition opens in Paris.  Mariti and Ditissimus governments vote in favor of reuinification, but Singula surprises everyone by voting against it.  The worlds first motel - Milestone Mo-Tel - opens in California.  New York City displaces London as the largest city in the world. Parvus's Senate passes a bill calling for the largest increase in military spending in living history.  Mundo is lambasted by numerous human rights groups for executing suspected border-crossers without a trial.  Lion Feuchtwanger's novel Jud Süß (translated as Jew Süss or Power) is published in Germany.

The Occassio parliament begins holding preliminary votes to discuss taxing "sinful" enterprises, though the exact outcome of the vote is anyone's guess.  A few non-descript men check out nearby buildings around the parliament building.

It is now the design phase.  You may post a design for a new weapon or post a revision for an existing one.  New contracts will be posted and can be bid on next phase.

Massgraves Incorporated is willing to pay $35 per A1 Locust with matching (5x20mm) ammo shipment provided over the next two turns (Winter 1925, Spring 1926), to a maximum of 7 shipments. As the Locust costs $17 to make and the ammo $3, this provides a net profit of $15 per shipment.

Korsgaard Armoury produces one shipment each of 13.5mm Korsgaard Anti-Materiel ammunition and KG-24-2A "Vulture" guns and fulfils the Unknown Buyer #27 contract.

Additionally, Korsgaard agrees to provide one shipment of A1 Locusts and accompanying 5x20mm ammunition to Massgraves Incorporated during Spring 1926, after the Unknown Buyer #27 contract is filled.

Pay $15 to produce a revision.
Quote from: KK Kicker: Huntsman
A tightening of tolerances and improved machining makes this weapon less willing to put up with abuse, but should allow it to perform effectively as a mid-range target longarm for bird shooting with pellet rounds and for effective hunting of larger targets with solid slugs such as deer, bears, and men. As such, a set of basic iron-sights are also added.

Revision: Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1925
Base: Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1924
The Valor High Capacity Sidearm-1925 greatly lengthens the barrel all the way to 5.5 inches. The longer barrel extracts more energy and therefor stopping power from the round hopefully bringing it up to slightly below that of a normal military pistol round.

ACTACTACT
Korsgaard Armoury
Revision Name: TM-18-1C "Buzzard"
Parent Design: TM-18-1B "Buzzard"

After revisiting the jitter issue, it appears that the action was not properly designed for the power of the 13.5mm cartridge. The bolt would slam too far back on every cycle, and the alternating stresses of the two bolts hitting the receiver 25 times every second caused violent shaking and eventually parts failure. The "C" version of the Buzzard slightly lengthens the receiver and significantly stiffens the recoil springs, and aims to drastically reduce the side-to-side shaking and related reliability issues (such as some parts shaking themselves loose, as well as any remaining fatigue failures).

-snip-

It's been a while, so I'll put in a reminder here:

Each revision only accomplishes one thing.  If your revision says "secondly" or "also we do X", then you've over-reached and the revision will fail.

Turn in ~24 hours or so.
