What is an absurdly stimulating life?
Playing these modern games with 3D Graphics?
No wonder people loose their grip.

It would help if you offered proper compensation and benefits packages to keep a Grip in the future.
They've valuable professionals, you know.

I don't think people will; everyone I speak to from high and low and the non-existent middle has fallen for the same fin di siecle madness that afflicted the denizens of the 20th century

When you're staring down a bear, often the best move is to stay still and wait and see.

And we are. We're not doomed. Even with all the dangers; we have more unknowns about them in each case. What kind of AI will we semi-purposefully make first, what random quantum physics discoveries we will make... we're staring down a bear.

Depends on the bear. Some bears will be frightened off if you make yourself big and loud.

We all want a absurdly stimulating life. Always will. Our sanity may disagree in the end, though.

No we don't. That's a new thing for the latest 1 or 2 generations, that grew up under a constant bombardment of social media mindfuckery, invented weird things like FOMO, grew up with deification of individualism, extremely manipulative advertisements, and cartoons that are so fast and flashing that they cannot but induce ADHD or other concentration deficit disorders that require constant stimulation.

Oh how insane the world has gotten, where people believe that to find relaxation in their free time they require absurd stimulation.

Typically the person that goes to the hospital is the loser, especially if they die.

If a knife wins, can it die?
Seems like if anyone wins a knife fight it's the knife.

The only way to keep a grip on the future is to keep shooting the past at it. It is the only way to make sure it doesn't change too fast so you can experience it at the right speed.

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

What I want to know is how the hell do we get a grip on the present?

By comparing it to the bits of the future you understand.
