Cherries taste good and are a summer fruit and as such I recommend looking out for them the coming months, if you live on the northern hemisphere. But then again depending on where you are, laws may not permit picking from trees growing by the roadside or in parks (which is what I tend to do), or you might simply not have cherry trees so I dunno :/

I propose the medieval hedonist plate:

-A sliced apple or pear.
-Sliced dry cured sausage
-Cheese cubes cut from a big block of cheese
-Some nuts
-Some kickass mustard (not the bright yellow stuff, oldschool mustard, preferably with honey or figs or something added in it)
-craft beer, barley

Also it has been years since I've been able to find roasted peanuts with honey and salt.

... huh. Really? You can get the cheapo ones at most major grocery stores, I think. They're at the nearest walmart to me. Honey roasted peanuts, the salt is implicit to it just like it is to goddamn everything not explicitly labeled unsalted. They're remarkably good in a bowl of noodles or with rice.

Back when I could actually find it without the veggies (that I dislike intensely) already added one of my favorite lazy meals was beef teriyaki yakisoba with a liquid seasoning, with honey roasted peanuts and a little bit (like one slice of sammich meat of whatever sort was on hand) of meat and a bit of cheese. Good stuff, too damn salty for me to eat anymore, though :-\

Anyway, like... food thread? We have one. We talk snacks in there, too. I made lemon icing coated cashews not too long ago, they were good.

Eh, Dwarfs will eat ANYTHING.
It's probably all the booze with which they wash it down.

Dried mango. I used to think nothing was even close to dried mango in the king of snacks. But then I discovered DRIED STRAWBERRIES. Strawberries here are often taken for granted because they are so common but dried strawberries are on another level. I now buy dried strawberries and mangoes in equal sums; there are two Kings now on the board

yes, but do they kiss?

... something my grandmother likes is when we take dried fruit (of whatever sort) and then let it soak in (prepared) oatmeal for a good bit (i.e. it gets put in her usual breakfast and then she doesn't eat some or all of the breakfast in the morning). So, like. Take your dried mangos and strawberries and. Put them together in an oatmeal bath. Make it steamy. Soak for a while. then eat them

or

better yet

take the mushed up strawmangos and

dry them out again

I like peppermint sticks, just get a bunch of them when Christmas is over and they're on sale.
