"Oh, uhm, a... uh, friend, told me.  But, don't worry about that!  We have to think about what to do!  About the... you-knows.  And... everything, gah.  I'm sorry Chris, I'm still all frazzled, that was terrifying.  They had guns, and that girl wasn't running... I think she might have been caught.  Do you know who else was there?  I don't think I really knew anyone, but it was so chaotic..."

Yeah, I know Zach. We talked a few times at school and he helped me out with a few homework assignments. It’s okay Isabella, we’ll get through this. How many of them could their possibly be?

engage taxxon form.  use stray rocks to shrink the entrance of my cave and use stray dirt to make it look like it had always been that way.  make it just big enough so that my squirrelform can squeeze through, but no larger.

(This post brought to you by System of a Down)

As the night grows darker our heroes, almost all of whom are safe and sound in their own homes, consider how best to face the next day knowing what they now know.

Alright, there should be a way out of this. Just have to think up some convincing lies.
Pressed in against by expressions that range from suspicious, to nervous, to inscrutably alien, Sophia begins desperately weaving some deceptions, using her observations of the Hork-Bajir's usual speech patterns and the culture of the Yeerks as a whole. [6] "Climbed tree to see better." She slurs the words a bit, unfamiliar with the alien mouth structure. "See far. Went that way." She points in a random direction and two of the controllers run off that way.
"Very well. Disciplinary action will be postponed pending successful acquisition of the witnesses. Come with me - let's go catch them, Yindrat-213 and Kanak-481."

EDIT: lolnope nevermind all that we're hecka broke!
For now try to remember the faces of the people who were there with me. Could I make out any distinguishing features? Did they seem high-school aged, college aged, what?

((How is the passage of time accounted for when we're split up like this? Do you want us to try and stay more or less synched up, or can some people be days ahead of others?))
Bobby gives up on his his thoughts of buying a new gun legally, considering his financial situation, turning instead to trying to remember who he saw at the construction site. [3] Mostly younger than himself, middle- or high-school age, mix of genders. He thinks he could put one name to a face, though.
(Again it'll be up to you who you recognize and how. Time wise, well, I'm kind of winging it, but hopefully it doesn't get actual days out of sync. I'll kludge the timelines for the sake of my own sanity if I have to. Keep track of your possessions and circumstances that you're leaving at home, I'll put it in your character block if you take it with you.)

“Of course not! Why in the world would you think that? It’s been a long day and I must have been daydreaming, I can’t believe that you would even suggest that….”
Go up to my room and practice shadow boxing to take my mind off of recent events.
Having made his excuses, Chris heads up to his room and works out some of the unresolved anxiety and aggression from the evening. After a few minutes he can just barely make out the familiar footsteps of his father walking up to his door. A few more minutes after that, the footsteps recede.

Get some crumbs or such, and put them on the windowsill outside my room.  If a small animal comes, acquire it.
Zack heads up to his room after grabbing a late-night snack, placing the cookie crumbs on the window sill and sitting back a bit. [3] A little while later a group of California harvester ants have discovered the crumbs and he takes the opportunity to acquire one. It sits still for a few seconds as its DNA is scanned and then immediately moves out again as if nothing happened.
Zack has acquired a California harvester ant morph.

Isabella knows Chris (Knightwing), though he doesn't really know her.  A couple weeks back he punched out a bully who was hassling her, though he actually only did it because of a personal dispute with the guy--he has no idea Isabella had even been there at the time.  Since then, she's been kinda crushing on him, and facebook-stalking him, though they have barely spoken.  She actually hasn't had any significant interactions with Chris before yesterday, when she finally got the courage to speak to him.  The conversation went well, and was why Sophia was at the construction site--their conversation had continued as they walked home.
Assuming Knightwing is fine with the above, Isabella will call Chris and ask if he's okay.  She'll also hold Tripod (her three-legged pet cat) in her lap while she talks, and acquire him.
Chris and Isabella chat into the night about plans and the group, and she takes the opportunity to acquire her Russian Blue, Tripod.
Isabella has acquired a Russian Blue Cat morph.

[6+Morph Dancer prevents overshoot] The first transformation comes easily, almost naturally, to Fred. The changes are not as chaotic or random as they were when Sophia transformed - not that Fred saw it - but the body plans of human and Taxxon are so radically different that it's still impossible to make the process look good. A couple minutes later Fred stands on twenty insectoid legs and views the world from four eyestalks and experiences for the first time the hunger. The desperate, mindless, painful hunger of a creature on the verge of starvation who is surrounded on all sides by delectable food. It's not an emptiness that begs to be filled, but a void so profound that no amount of material could possibly make a difference against it. Fred's mind easily overrides the Taxxon's own sharp intellect, enjoying its lightning-fast reflexes and keen senses but there is nothing, nothing that can be done about this desperate hunger. Ignoring it is impossible. Trying to remember feeling satiated in the past makes it worse by comparison. Fred uses the Taxxon body to alter his cave's layout, a task for which the form is supremely well-adapted, but even experimentally swallowing the moved stones and dirt does absolutely nothing to take the edge off of the hunger.

Plan an ambush to kill my comrades somewhere secluded. Assuming the officer is a human-controller, leave it alive but disabled. Definitely kill them all. No witnesses.

Isabella yawns, interrupting the phone call.  "Thanks, Chris.  That talk helped.  This is all just... really overwhelming.  But we'll get through it, you're right.  Right now we just need to focus on finding the others.  It'll be bad if the ye--uh, the you-knows, if they catch one of us.  We'll have to keep each other safe."

Acquire both dogs, too.  Then... experimentally try to morph, inside.  Just to prove this is all real.

((Agreed with ER that Bobby knows Sophia due to helping out in a soup kitchen for a bit, which is where they met.))

Check what the 'opening hours' are of the shelter where Bobby met Sophia, see if it'd be too late to go check if she's there.

Then, start working on a design for a flyer for a movie night screening "invasion of the body snatchers" for some fake movie club.

The idea here is to get some printed in one of the next days and put them around for a chance to find the other people who were at the construction site, while still having plausible deniability and hopefully not attracting the attention of the aliens. Note that we don't necessarily even need to actually do the movie night, this is just a way to connect to the others. For now just design some flyers and look up where I can have some printed on the cheap.

(This post brought to you by THE ELLIMIST)

A dark night has fallen over the city, and as some of our protagonists sleep, others experiment with their newfound powers. Sorry Henrik, we'll get to the morning soon!

Try out the ant thing before bedding down for the night.
In the safety of his bedroom, Zack decides to test out his new morph. [3] After some straining he figures out the mental trigger for the transformation, and watches in the mirror as his arms and legs shrivel up and split into six spindly limbs, far too small to support his weight; he falls to the ground with a small thump, having shrunk between the time of first falling and hitting the ground. His torso pinches in two, eyes splinter into hundreds, and seconds later he is scuttling around on the floor as a California harvester ant.
The ant brain is utterly alien, incomprehensible to a human mind as there technically is no brain. Distributed nerve clusters drive the ant's body to follow pre-programmed instinctual instructions; not a hive mind, but a mind dedicated solely and wholly to the hive. Zack's consciousness is only dimly aware as the ant catches a pheromone trail and climbs out the window into the massive outside world.

"I'll take point."
Plan an ambush to kill my comrades somewhere secluded. Assuming the officer is a human-controller, leave it alive but disabled. Definitely kill them all. No witnesses.
Sophia heads out with the two controllers who now believe she is one of them, a human and another Hork-Bajir, and waits for the opportune moment. The trio, consisting as it does of two very obvious aliens, makes its way through shadowy back roads and alleyways, the human-controller leading the way. It is in one of these alleys that [1+1 Ruthless Strategist] she quickly turns and swipes at the other Hork-Bajir's neck with her wrist blade; it deftly leans back out of her reach and easily slices her own forearm off, then forces her to her knees with a far more intuitive grasp of its own body. There's a brief flash where she sees what's about to happen and pulls her arm back just in time to avoid getting it sliced off. The memory of the life-like flash quickly fades as she engages in a brief scuffle with the Hork-Bajir, neither of them getting the upper hand over the other. The human-controller ahead of them turns back at the commotion and calmly levels his futuristic weapon at Sophia. Flashing a nastily smug smile, he says "I didn't think so. Are you another Andalite survivor, or just a traitor? No matter. We'll get our answers out of you at the Pool."

turn into squirrel.  find a bird or something and aquire a third morph.  then change to human and head home, i guess.
Fred leaves the Taxxon morph behind, feeling immense relief as the horrific hunger gives way to the regular kind once he's back in human form. Even with the ease with which he's taken to the morphing ability, it takes a toll, and he was already tired from the running earlier. Regardless, he gets right back into it, taking squirrel form [6+Morph Dancer prevents overshoot] which is a far smoother and less disturbing process than the alien bug. Scampering out of the cave, Fred finds a northern cardinal in its nest and subdues it with his tiny hands, but finds that while morphs he is unable to perform the acquiring that came so naturally in human form.

Hanging up on Chris, Isabella pets and acquires Ko and Alyona, a Pekingese and a Manchester Terrier respectively, then [2+1 Morph Dancer] spends a while trying to work out how to trigger the transformation. Eventually she works out that concentrating on the animal will begin the change, and that it will stop if her concentration is broken; she manages to become her cat Tripod, noting before the cat's instincts take over that she is identical to the cat except for having four fully intact and functional legs. Once the cat's brain has fully formed, her attention is taken up entirely by the extremely fun activity of knocking things off of shelves and tables.
Isabella has acquired Pekingese and Manchester Terrier morphs.

Tell my parents I’m going for a jog and acquire some animal forms
Chris makes his excuses and runs out the door into the night, followed by the concern of his mother and long stare of his father. [2] The big jock is unable to find any animals to grab that aren't spooked by his approach before he has to return.

Check what the 'opening hours' are of the shelter where Bobby met Sophia, see if it'd be too late to go check if she's there.
Then, start working on a design for a flyer for a movie night screening "invasion of the body snatchers" for some fake movie club.

For now just design some flyers and look up where I can have some printed on the cheap.
Turns out the soup kitchen Bobby knows Sophia from opens at noon on weekends and 6 in the evening on weekdays (tomorrow is a weekday). He spends the rest of the night mocking up a design which will hopefully get the attention of the other witnesses, and finds a nearby library branch which will print up to ten sheets a day for free.

Look for some more animals, and after that go home and beat up any suspicious individuals on the way there.

Do I not even get a +1 for that? What exactly do I get Ruthless Strategist for, if not backstabbing my allies with plenty of time to plan it out?

Yeah, I don't mind.
((Well syv, would you like to tell us which gun Bobby has? What firearm would make sense for a guy like that to own?))

Well, go to bed and have a night's rest. Set the alarm earlier than usual though.

Next morning, pick out a different looking outfit from what I was wearing during the incident.

Then, don't go straight to work but visit a few other places first where it'd make sense for Bobby to be for errands (like visiting the bank, then a grocery store, then a coffee shop a ways away, something like that). While going around, try to (subtly!) take note of who is around and if anyone is following Bobby. Basically trying to find out if he's being shadowed without drawing suspicion on himself or making it seem like anything is out of the ordinary.

((For the record, this is known as a 'surveillance detection route', or SDR.))

Other than that, assuming nothing untoward happens, just get through the working day.
