The odds of anyone digging a trench getting a lethal dose of radiation in Chernobyl are exceedingly low unless they managed to dig a trench into some buried waste material that wasn't dumped back into the reactor building or something like that. And even then, still shouldn't be seeing lethal doses.

I dunno.. They were digging trenches in the red forest, and staying there for what, 3-4 weeks? They breathed in and ingested lots. Especially if you go digging, you'll dig up mycelium that has concentrated radioactive cesium (wild boars in eastern germany are still too radioactive to be fit for human consumption because they dig around in the dirt there. And that's far away from Chernobyl.

Video footage is emerging of Ukranian attack helicopters striking an oil facility in Belgograd, marking the second offensive strike of this war. Russian officials claim no injuries from the resukting fires.

https://www.reuters.com/world/ukraine-strikes-fuel-depot-russias-belgorod-regional-official-says-2022-04-01/

Ukranian officials have not responded, but this seems like an odd and pointless thing to fake. Not only is this pretty clearly a valid military target as it forms part of the supply line for Russia's invading forces, a mission like this is extremely bold and extremely dangerous. For Ukraine to even be able to attempt such a strike makes Russia look very bad.

Ukraine is getting more offensive tools too. The EU parliament said yesterday that they will switch focus from providing defensive weaponry, to providing offensive weaponry (like artillery).

In other news, hotdamn. War is driving up prices like crazy. Within a month, inflation over here in the Netherlands went from 7% to 12% due to increased store prices (where it was projected for this year to be somewhere about 2.5% before the war started)

For anyone curious, let me present some Ukrainian wartime music. I chose videos with English subtitles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZztmQsSAqfo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu8m5FA2nL8

Two versions of a Ukrainian patriotic written in 1914.

https://youtu.be/wSO1_-8c1fY

One of the biggest hits of the spring of 2022. Song about Bayraktar (Turkish UAV). It is really catchy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40WD9RDAMVc

One of my personal favorites. A warning to Russians.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdG24PmUzD4

March of Ukrainian Army. IMO, it is not the best translation but other videos with English subtitles did even worse job.

I am getting the feeling that internally Putin isn't very much in control of Russia anymore.
Despite Putin saying he'll cut the gas and oil if not paid in Rubles, Gazprom just announced it will continue supplying the gas and oil as per contract.

Or, you know, the Ruble has bounced back to almost its pre-war value, so they don't care now.

Unlikely. Putin stated last night that he would cut off gas today if payment wasn't switched to rubles. Gazprom said they'd keep delivering just a few hours later. Sounds more like Gazprom saying 'we don't care what Putin said'.

Aparently they were to recieve payments via a third, not under sanctions company that would get the euros and turn them to rubles or something like that?

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

I was under this impression as well, but then again, I don't understand these kinds of things.

I'm like 99% sure that the reason that the inflation appears to have stopped is because the Russian Government has started fixing prices. But I could be wrong.

Prices aren't fixed but exporters are forced to sell 80%of foreign currency as soon as they get it. One also can't withdraw more than $10 000 from their deposits in foreign currency, anything more means that you'll get roubles instead

Also, imports to Russia went down, reducing demand for foreign currencies. The same goes for tourism or any other visits abroad.

Ukraine denies having attacked fuel depots in Russia with helicopters.

It looks like there's rebellion inside the Russian army and they did it themselves.

Or Ukraine has nothing to gain from admitting that we did this.

P.S. Everyone knows that all Ukrainian helicopters were destroyed on day 1, just watch Russian television. It must have been... Hmmmm... a sneaky Belarussian attack.
