First of all, the thing(r) wasn’t swift.  It was LOLCODE.  Whether or not swift needs Java is irrelevant.  Furthermore, out of all the LOLCODE compilers and interpreters on the Wikipedia page, only one requires Java.  Therefore it doesn’t need Java and the answer to your question is still no.

Also, just checking the Wikipedia page for swift.  It appears that swift doesn’t actually need Java either.  The official version from Apple appears to compile directly to machine code.  It’s only the version for Android that requires Java.
