I was slaughtering a goblin fortress and I noticed that almost every single goblin there wore an iron mask.  Quite odd.

It was also cool to see a goblin guard wearing a cloak with the insignia of the local government on it.  Which oddly enough was "a Mahogany."

Unfortunately, my dwarf had no toughness at all and got tired out easily.  I waited for a bit to recover but the damned spearmistress came out and attacked me while I was still recovering resulting in a dead dwarf.

I am curious though....does a mask cover the whole head as opposed to a helm or something that only covers the top....does a mask only cover the face?

Now on subject:

Iceball3: It needs tests. It's the same question as "can a helmet protect a throat". The throat is embedded into head, like eyes, so helmets should work.

dennislp3: there's nothing in the raws showing the "direction" of the protection, thus the mask is the same as a cap and a helm.

Fun Fact: It is possible to wear a helm and a mask at the same time.

At least in the Arena.
