2nd Turn

Event
Strength Dice: 43
Temperament Dice: N/A

No remarkable event happened this era.

Team Pancake
Naturegirl1999: Supports Kilojoule Proton
Demonic Spoon: Supports Kilojoule Proton
Kilijoule Proton: Oil filled vacuoles for buoyancy and maybe storing carbon for the hard times: 3+2+2=capped at 5

Pimple Lily
Through millenia, this clade of pancakes went through the selective pressure of falling into the darkness below and get starved. This is no longer the case for this organism. It has many small spherical cavities filled with lighter-than-water oil, which doesn't allows it to sink at all, gluing the plant to the sea surface. This has allowed the plant to gather sunlight much more efficently, and companied by the oil vacuoles providing structural support has resulted in a substantial size growth. The oil it stores is also a sort of hydrocarbon, and can be metabolically burned to get some quick carbon.

But as a downside, it is no longer able to move on its own at all. The siphon, even though grown like the rest of the organism, is too slow and weak to provide any propulsion when oil vacuoles are constantly pull it up. It is reduced in function to gathering nutrients and minerals.

Status: LC

Description: A small green protoplant shaped like a flat circle. It is 5 centimeters in diameter. A small water siphon is situated at its center, which it uses to get minerals and nutrients more efficently. It reproduces by splitting in two when it gets too big. It lives permanently stuck to the sea surface through the dozens of tiny oil-filled pimples across its body. It can be found forming coincidental mats, as well as alone.

Team Blob 1
Curious Cat: Flagella for movement: 5+2=capped at 5
King Zultan: Supports Curious Cat

Rocket Blob
As the competition for organic debris grew due to populations being disproportionate after the end of volcanic ash supplements, this particular clade of blobs have convergently evolved with a distant cousin, but not quite. Instead of covering themelves with flagella, they only have them at the 'back' of the creature, as a very visible fuzz that wildly vibrates when active. This tuff of flagella allows them to cruise at the utterly amazing speed of a 100 meters a day, making them the fastest species around. And even though being highly inefficent, this has some solid benefits. For example, they get to reach fresher ground much faster then the other blobs.

But without any way to know where are they going, they can only rely on literally blind chance. So this ability stays below its full potential. Their populations fluctuate alot as a result. They are the first ones around when new opportunities rise to feed and reproduce, but other blobs starve alot less when the food is scarce.

Status: VU

Description
A pea-sized proto-animal. It aimlessly moves along the sea floor and above with its tuff of flagella on its bum and digests any organic debris it can find. It is covered in small black dots of chemical-sensitive cells. It reproduces by splitting in two when it gets too big.

Team Lagus Blob
flazeo25: Separation of the blobs outer surface into two separate types of tissues, one for the supporting the flagella, and the second, which is composed of the tendrils themselves: 5

Amaranth Blob
Unlike it's many relatives close and distant, this particular evolutionary lineage has developed a change that may not be noticed at first. Under that fuzzy locomotive coat, a different layer of cells await. These cells initially evolved to provide support for flagellum to make them move in less random ways, which allows the blob to move farther with the same amount of energy used. But on top of this, it also proved to be a great isolative layer. Once the food is secured, it is now impossible for it to escape to the waters again, allowing them to be digested inside at maximum efficency. This made it grew a  bit.

It still relies entirely on luck and it isn't that much faster than other benthic organisms, but when it comes to efficency and hardships, it is the king.

Status: LC

Description
A proto-animal slightly bigger than a pea. It aimlessly moves along the sea floor and digests any organic debris it can find. It is covered in a very thin coat of tendrils which it uses to move, and it gives it a fuzzy look if you look close enough. Under this thin coat, a specialised layer of tissue keeps the tendril movements in check and prevents any nutrient loss. It reproduces by splitting in two when it gets too big.

Environment
On the southern hemisphere of the planet Aqautico, a saltwater crater lake called The Crater Sea resides.

Surrounding the sea, a barren, lifeless rocky wasteland goes on for hundreds of kilometers, stretching as far as eye can see.

And through the east side, five rivers called The Harbringers follow curved, close-by paths to the sea, coming from far away and who knows where.

Multicelluar life is limited the sea, represented only by simple lifeforms.

Dice gods favoured you all this round didn't they? Especially flazeo, who doesn't has any fallbacks. Any new player is much appreciated.

Team Blob 1

Vote:  develop flagella.

On a side note:  after doing some research, it appears that what I actually had in mind for the first mutation was not olfactory sensors (in fact it should have been impossible to evolve olfactory sensors without first evolving nerve cells), but actually chemotaxis.  Oh well, better luck next time.

I was asking what this meant specifically. I do remember your substitude for chemoreception. Does it just means ''Team Blob 1''?

I’m changing the name of the team/creature.  “Nee” means “formerly known as”.
