heydude6
Is town, basically. They've put forward an earnest effort (super earnest) and seem genuinely frustrated when people don't seem to respect it, almost as if they're aware that what they're doing/have done makes them look towny and finding it suspicious of people to have read their posts and not acknowledged this. Either this is some ridiculously high level scum play they've coordinated and I'm not going to solve it with a town of Jim's and TricMagics, or they're town.
Specifically, the heydude6/IcyTea31 situation feels to me to be one of the following (in sharply descending order of likelihood)
-Both players are town
-powergap
-Both players are scum, and this was some 400IQ scum gambit that required heydude to pull off a herculean effort and will probably get contradicted by mechanical information results D2/3
-ICT is scum/3rd party and was aware of the bargain, and responded super fast to getting fingered out of the blue
-ICT is scum/3rd party, ICT was totally blindsided by everything going and made everything up without going after heydude6 to avoid having to cross with a player he thought was town
-heydude6 is scum, the initial scenario where heydude6 was making everything up from the start and only ICT received a contract is what's actually happened
-both players are scum/3rd party on different teams, and ICT was totally blindsided by everything going and made everything up without going after heydude6 to avoid having to cross with a player he thought was town
The strength of my (town) gutread on heydude6 is basically such that I'm going to dismiss the possibility that they are scum out of hand until something new comes up. This is the hard town read, the weaker town reads below are more along the lines of 'I can't find fault with what seem to be their intentions' rather than 'this person definitely has a town mindset'.
NJW2000
Good posts, sensible cases. I challenge you to complain about their D1 play.
No 'crazy impossible to fake from the heart new!town-tell', but that's not a point against NJW.
IcyTea31
Has done a lot of work, including bringing out Vector's case on them which is a large part of my townread on vector, several (unfortunately) low-commitment invalid cases on themself, and super organic reaction to the heydude6 saga and heydude6's alignment. Sensible reasons for going after people, not developed as fully as they could be. If ICT brings out a well formed and compelling case on someone in D1 this will be a hard town read, otherwise it'll probably decay to neutral if e.g. he disappeared for meta reasons.
Vector
This is the most 'I don't have a problem with it' read I've ever had in my life. Super believable and normal reactions to ICT/dolores opening bullshit, especially in a game where nothing particularly much had developed out of it, mostly going after low-hanging-fruit-that-are-active-in-the-thread, no super developed amazing case so far. Great post-RVS pre-wagon work, no case but there hasn't been a great opportunity to make cases since so many players have been (understandably or otherwise) inactive. They seem to be working with basically exactly the same set of information as me, which implies they're town.
Nirur Torir
Doing work, making sense. I don't think it's particularly good work or well directed and they're being cautious about things mechanically I wouldn't be and prescriptive about things in meta-commentaries I might disagree with but I think those mostly come down to personal differences and that's what I'd expect to happen in me reading town!Nirur. Less time in the game and more of a presence than a lot of players.
FallacyofUrist
Fallacy is active and engaging with ideas in the game in a way that makes sense (sometimes) and seem logically coherent, which is totally off-meta for scum!FoU. I want to say that they're not really coasting or lurking or anything, they've been in the thread and have drawn attention and haven't engaged in blatantly scummy activity or anything. I think if they were scum they'd be way less active, but that's a meta-inference and I haven't played with them for a while.
Toaster
Present, going after people who need to gone after for reasons they need to be gone after, sitting on a super shitty lynch reason on ICT which feels reaching and lame and desperate and fake, but ICT's done such a shitty job defending it that it's not as scummy to sit on such a lame lynch if it's actually believable that Toaster believes it. The continued presence of this 'case' from toaster without development in the presence of an actually good case on someone in the game from somewhere will instantly be super scummy, but I'm not bothered by it enough in the tepid waters we're in to call it a huge problem.
notquitethere
Not quite in the thread enough. More or less activelurking, it's on-meta and was set up, which frankly makes it worse but whatever. They've got a pretty sober view of what's happening in the game and they have shared that with the thread/the town, there's just a lack of work being done.
juicebox
As above but less active. Promising activity, I guess we'll see how that turns out.
Jim Groovester
Refusing the engage with the game. Going after people for making him want to not engage with the game/complaining about people making the game hard to engage with.
This kind of stuff isn't alignment indicative, though. If Jim was less of an asshole a weaker player I'd call him town because he IS ACTUALLY engaging with the game to some degree and is NOT ACTUALLY calling for people to post less or not care or whatever he might do as scum, but I don't think Jim is being particularly motivated or not motivated by being being in/not being in a team right now, so it's a pretty neutral read.
Luckyowl
There have been accusations of lolsorandumb thrown about, but this is it, this is the lolsorandumb. I don't see any indication that Luckyowl is going to start posting in a coherent way that engages with the daygame at all. Hopefully someone kills them in the night and I never have to think about it again.
It's true that there's more or less no discernible town motive, but there's also no discernible scum motive. They're way more visible now and under a lot more heat than they would be if they'd just literally never posted. I'm going to say that they're probably town, but in the same sense that pre-RVS with no information on a player they're 'probably town'.
4maskwolfWhere in the world is 4maskwolf?
Claims to
have (had) opinions, never developed them. Still sitting on an FoU vote from what was basically RVS.
LeafsnailWhere in the world is leafsnail?
Now the least active player, goes after very low hanging fruit, has one non-committal attack on vector and is sitting on TricMagic from what was basically RVS.
The fact that Leafsnail is posting in the thread implies that he is able to be posting in the thread and the fact that his posts are contextually relevant to what's happening in the thread implies that he is following along, yet there's been no articulation of why e.g. he's voting for TricMagic when the potential case on TricMagic has changed so much from when his vote was first placed.
TricMagicAs-fucking-always, posts unbelievable walls of shit everywhere else on the forum but in the mafia game he's actually in. Basically no engagement with the daygame outside of where it interacts with some mechanics. Totally on-brand of TricMagic though. I can't particularly remember if Tric would ever actually scum hunt or do anything useful as town but I'm leaning towards 'no' which is the only reason I'm not calling for him to be quickhammered. Voting a player for withholding information it seems like he already has and not giving Tric a mechanical advantage at a cost to himself when Tric is the most suspicious player in the game.
ToonyManI'm tossing up whether this goes at the highest point on the shitlist (a more-town-than-average read) or here at the bottom of scum. Bad Logic, undeveloped cases. Either the bad logic is an obvious scumtell from someone with no intrinsic desire/need to figure out other player's alignments (i.e. scum) or it's a purely meta disagreement. The strident opening in the game and active RVS which quickly devolved into casual sideswiping and lazy piling onto indefensible players makes me think the former. They had weak cases on dolores and ICT from RVS that were never fully articulated and seem to have been dropped without a word.
4maskwolf: where are you? Can you elaborate on what you think about your 'People of interest' (heydude, IcyTea, FallacyOfUrist, ToonyMan)
Leafsnail: why does Vector's post about ICT's 'slip' bother you so much more than Toasters, is it just because it's noncomittal? Since you don't believe in the 'slip' as a scumslip, how do you feel about the fact that Toaster is doubling down on it as such?
Are you voting for the player you want lynched? Who else is scummy besides TricMagic?
ToonyMan: what's your position on the alignments of dolores and ICT? Why have you dropped the strand of ICT self-voting in RVS that made you want to go after him? Why aren't you voting for me, is just because you feel very strongly that TricMagic needs to be lynched?
'Scum' players (4maskwolf, Leafsnail, TricMagic, ToonyMan): it'd help a lot if you could post a set of articulated reads, particularly 4mask/Leaf/Tric since I don't know what you're thinking and where your opinions are at in the game so far.
Regarding ending the day, the only quickhammer I could stomach would be TricMagic, because I don't think we're going to get much more out of him. My problem with ToonyMan is that I don't understand his reasoning, so if he could explain it to me such that I did I'd walk it back because right now I think that it's faked.
