Neon Night is a story about the downcast trying to better their life through excessive bloodshed, gratuitous violence, and extravagant arson.
Wake up, you dirty fuckin' junkie. Yeah, I'm talking to you. Hard to get a job these days, eh? Yeah, no kidding. Uptown's full of a bunch of rich bastards with their jazz lounges and hookers and champagne, and they aren't hiring a nobody like you. Not a chance in hell if they won't hire a stud like me. You want a job? Some warm food, a cot, maybe a room to yourself if you get shit done? Follow me. We've got something big in the works, something real big, something that'll make this city ours. Is it dangerous? Well, lemme ask you this. Do you know how to use a gun?Inspired by a certain RTD by Ozarck. You're one small cog in a big fucking war machine, and that machine is about to wage total urban warfare against anything not on their side. Kill the cops, burn the mansions, and smash the glass on this bloody, catastrophic neon night.
You get 6 points to use on items or perks of your choosing. Additional points, items, and perks can be obtained upon death or objective completion.
Name: Your character's name. Go wild.
Health: How close you are to being dead. Starts out at Healthy, and can deteriorate to Injured or Gravely Injured. Physical statuses such as bleeding, missing limbs, or pain will also go here.
Sanity: War is hell, brother. Starts out at Rational, and can devolve to a variety of states. Lower sanity makes critical successes (6) more likely to backfire, among other undesirable effects.
Items: This is your rifle. There are many like it, but this one is yours. This is where you keep track of items you've pilfered, copped, looted, etc. Weapons with ammunition have their ammo count designated in [brackets].
Perks: Not everyone is born equal. Some people excel where others don't. Anything that makes you stick out from the average mook goes here.
Bayonet (1 point) - A rusty blade. Slap it on your gun or ditch the gun entirely and go around stabbing like a motherfucker.
Backpack (1 point) - These things are harder to come by than you might think. Helps you carry a lot more.
Goggles (1 point) - Scratched to shit, but they do the job. Basic eye protection.
Match (1 point) - Yeah, that's right, it's just a single match. Tough shit. Don't get it wet.
Lead Pipe (2 points) - A classic. Blunt trauma with no strings attached.
Heroin (2 points) - Makes you feel nothing. Numbs pain and prevents sanity loss from trauma. Requires a fire to use, and takes time to administer.
Cigarette (2 points) - A slow drag soothes the nerves. Helps keep sanity up, but visible to light and use in darkness due to it requiring a fire to use.
Handgun[9] (3 points) - Don't ask me what it's fuckin' called, all I know is that it's chambered in 9mm. Squeeze off a few rounds to finish an unarmored target nice and quick. You get one mag, so don't miss.
Flash (3 points) - Great for dealing with enemies hiding around tight corners. Just don't be a dumbass and walk in while they're blindly spraying at the door.
Frag (4 points) - Clears a room with a bang. Stay clear.
Carbine[13] (4 points) - Carries 12 in the clip and 1 in the chamber. Better than a handgun, but don't expect it to pierce any decent body armor.
Painkillers[4] (4 points) - Easy to take and easier to get addicted to. Perfect pain relief on the go.
Boomstick[2] (5 points) - Why did we only give you two slugs for this beauty? Well, see, this thing is a fuckin' masterpiece. You can load it with broken glass or shrapnel and it'll fire it off all the same.
Medkit (5 points) - Just cuz you're expendable doesn't mean we don't want to keep casualties low. Use this to cauterize, stitch, and tourniquet your pals, and you might earn yourself a drink on them.
Night Vision Goggles (5 points) - Standard issue for law enforcement, so don't ask how we got it. Keep your eyes peeled even when it's pitch black, assuming you're somehow not in a room filled with blinking fluorescent ads.

Junkie (-1 point) - Sanity loss hastens over time. Cigarettes, painkillers, and heroin temporarily reverse this effect.
Psycho (3 points) - You're stone cold, man! Prevents sanity loss from killing.
Brawny (3 points) - You're a big guy. You can shrug off hits that would bring a lesser man to his knees, and are extra capable in melee.
Sneak (3 points) - Pickpocketing and creeping around the alleys have taught you a lot about staying hidden. Decreased chance of detection while sneaking.
Zealous (3 points) - You're particularly religious, though your specific affiliation may vary. Taking some time to pray can help manage your sanity and that of others around you.
