Name: Grigor Hoth

Write-In: Cosmic Trade Winds: The Galaxy is infused with dark energy, and psionics are beginning to sense this more and more clearly. What they've started to discover is dark energy, or cosmic energy, moves all the time. These create winds and currents of literally astronomical energy. A ship made with Cosmic sails can catch these winds and reach FTL. However, Cosmic storms can destroy ships as energy sweeps in every direction, often creating small nebula as the energy converts itself to matter. Other times, the routes can change, leaving systems without FTL travel until the fickle winds turn to them at another point.

(took inspiration from Tric. Age of Sail in space, anyone? No? Just me? Well, leaving it here for the moment anyways. I don't know if it's 'exciting' enough anyhow :P)
(Still working on initial design aaand specialisation, cos I'm indecisive, but wanted to let Nirur know of stated interest)

Kinda interesting that you took inspiration from me, given mine was a mix of Chinese and Norse. Yggdrasil World Tree and Leylines.
People like Psionics for some reason.

I say we just vote for what we'd like to use to narrow it down. If you like multiple options, vote for them. Eventually we'll get 1 winner once all 5 have voted. If a Tie occurs, the other voters can break it afterward. Though I like Leylines cause magic.

Ninja Nirur Torir.

Excitement is the name of the game. Let the dice roll, whole fleets vanish to some unamed distant planet with no way home, and the GMROBONTs mess with things.

Psionic is like future magic in my head, sometimes. It's just people harnessing an energy to their will. But, I'm beginning to like the idea that humanity evolved to feel this energy on their skin instead.

The inspiration I took was just how systems can be connected by something, and it just clicked in my head. I'm not a fan of teleportation or time travel (despite loving 40k), and I feel it's... meh with some entity/entities observing us maliciously as we travel. Ontop of having the age of sail in my mind recently, and yeah, it just came together. Not quite Treasure Planet age of sail in space, but!

I can't immediately think on how to make it 'exciting' in the same vein as the others immediately though. Storms, changing winds, getting lost due to it, pirates waiting alongside known trade routes (or just outright enemies waiting in ambush). All cool, but not demons or some incredibly strong entity exciting. I'll mull over the choices after I've selected my own stuff.

A low tidal where the dark matter is almost still, and is in some places.
A high tidal phase where the energy grows increasing violent in the void betwwen worlds.

And on both sides a break point.

The low tide break-point simply, ceasing. Nothing to indicate it existed, and that void leading to those caught in it simply ceasing to exist, person by person disappearing in quantum shift if no one is there to observe, including ships themselves.

The high tide break-point causing a literal break to a graveyard of broken nodespace, dead galaxies, shattered hyperspace, these rifts sucking in others nearby, a whirlpool that drives one to madness.

These moments would be short, but the only defense is to be near a gravitational body. They are still affected, but far less, never reaching that break point so long as you are in a system

When you put it like that, they do all have the same theme.

I was aiming to have something that's a constant threat, up until end game when we can finally take this advanced battlefleet over to punch out Cthulhu and end it, in a 7 dimensional plane that's difficult to conceptualize.

Even with Tric's idea, it has the "something to work around" aspect, but it doesn't intrinsically have a Cthonic Sword of Damocles. There could be some form of invader from high tide, but I'm not sure how to add a certain weirdness to it.

I suppose we can go without the weirdness or mysterious threat, if people vote for it.

Well, the Graveyard from High Tide does in fact count for my idea extension. No one says it's completely inhospitable, just insane. One can say that they're in another dimension, and the Breaking Point lets things slip into it.

Universal Leylines can fall into parallel universes/worlds too, since the threat is left open-ended for GMROBONT.(read you writing the threat into existence)

Also introduced some. Though those things aren't being voted for in the first place, so not a huge deal.

K.. How many players now?
3/5 designs in. Maxinum has a spot reserved at least until the end of the day, but it might be longer since sign-ups are slow.
I'm not sure I said so, but spectators can vote.

Should I start with four players, and ask a friend for the last ship design, or wait for a fifth?

:'( Do you have your sheet/design/stuff in yet? Or maybe change a vote since the Winds don't have a threat.

If someone joins and votes Winds I would change mine.
