I've removed both of Tric's votes, as we have only one revision. They can add their vote on to whichever option they'd prefer more later.

Someone’s going to have to explain what the point/use of the briquettes is beyond “destroying our own stuff” before I can make the update please

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

It's an attempt at a far more effective fuel in comparison to straight coal. Though if it fails it will destroy all our own stuff. More heat, more energy, less needed as a result.

Each briquette may be ignited by striking it against a convenient surface, by exposure to open flame, or by not more than five yard's proximity to the great quantity of sparks and hot embers supplied by another briquette. Each briquette is prepared to feed the great engines of war waging away in far off lands, and is appropriately sized similarly to a loaf of bread but rounder.

Might be best to ignore the added on parts unless it fails spectacularly. Being easy to ignite is also interesting, since we won't have any issues starting the engine, it will just start near immediately.

It says outright it's not meant as a fuel, though whether that's a joke or not I'm not sure (read the bottom quote box in the post). It is apparently an incendiary weapon that is also incredibly dangerous and dumped from airships (bad idea), fired out of cannons (worse idea, it'll just disintegrate into a cloud of sparks), and...just throw at the enemy (worst idea).

Anyway Ensorceler probably needs to clarify their design.

Yes Briquettes. Much as the joke really should be separated be a [ hr ], better fuel is a good thing for powering more fuel-intensive projects.

It's not my first choice, but the SLF revision at least does something useful. Flarecoal appears to be a pure joke, and I can't envision a utility for war trains.

E: Apparently war trains were a real thing. I hadn't heard about them before, and while I remain sceptical, they are at least plausible enough to be useful in this setting.

I would agree with that, but if the revision says it isn't a fuel, I don't see us getting a new fuel as the main outcome of it.

Real Flarecoal Briquettes
(Not a joke)

The Practicable Chemistrologist's Enriched Briquette took some significant effort to develop, from such auspices as the Feathered Pillow With Naptha, the Saw'd Dusts And Assorted Phosphorescents, and the Log Besoaked In Foul Wine. Fortunately, the Briquette is self-igniting, easily fragments, and erupts in prodigious displays of fire after ignition with no risk of extinguishment even when wet. Compared to coal, more heat, more energy, less needed as a result. And results in a quick-starting engine.

Required for production of a Briquette are coal dust, iron filings, saltpeter, and sheep's tallow, mixed thoroughly and vigorously, then rolled in fine granules of condensed sugar.

Note, they are not to be used to cook food. They are meant for engines that would normally use coal, being far better as a fuel source thanks to it's qualities.
