If you like text based sandbox games or pbbgs in the vein of Faery Tale Online or Cantr then this may be the game for you. It has everything from a family system, magic, eight different unique races, many many player built cities among other things.

https://marosia.com/

If anyone has any questions then type them here, but I'll point out a few notable things.

Permadeath is part of the game.
There are god events, as in gods will come into the game and affect stuff.
There's no classes, but there are stats you can level up the more you work on them.
It is completely sandbox and it is  roleplay based. You can play a criminal, a king, trader, tailor, chef, warrior, etc. generally if you can imagine it you can do it.
There is a family system but you don't have to participate in it. While you can have a character born into a family (some chars are descended from deities or are born into royalty.) You can also choose to be born as a familyless 18 year old in some random town.
You can have up to five characters.

It has been brought back by a new admin, who is very passionate about the game and regularly updates it.

Played it a lot before it wiped, like it but everyone I RP'd with basically left.

Pretty decent game though. Some really good and immersive RP.

This looks like it might be my cup of tea. I remember loving the ideas of Cantr 2, if maybe not the execution.

I tried it. Sort of enjoyed the rp part, but I do not understand the "game" part. People are just chatting and occasionally using some rudimentary game mechanics, like cooking food.

I'm really not digging it at first glance. Apparently it takes over an IRL day just to walk between tiles. :-/
Does... anyone want to organise playing as the same race/kingdom or whatever, get a bit of a Bay12 group going? Otherwise I can't see myself devoting much time to this, haha.

OOC collaboration is against the rules.

And honestly, I don't really like fast-paced games and I like how travel takes 20 hours. I'm quite busy as of recent and I don't want to dedicate half my day to playing the game.

And mechanics are supplementary to RP, it's not like SS13. If you don't want to talk and RP this game isn't for you.

This seems interesting. I'll check it out later.

OOC collaboration is against the rules.
Wait, when did I suggest that? ???
I said we should play in the same kingdom/area, you know, somewhere that isn't completely dead. Also, I get the appeal of a slow-paced game that you don't have to devote much time to, but only being able to make a single action per day is massive overkill.
The RP mechanics don't seem very good either, in any case. Unless I'm missing something there's just a text box that you type messages in? The game would wanna have a pretty rich and vibrant setting and/or playerbase to make up for these shortcomings, but I didn't see any sign of such things when I had a look.

...So, are we playing dwarves, or what?

You can't select where you spawn. Only species. Using Discord to coordinate travel OOC is punishable so unless you get lucky you can't spawn as a group. And yes, you can play dwarves if you pick the Folk species and edit the description accordingly.

You aren't limited to one action per day, where did you get that? You can work on projects.

And yes, the RP is mostly a textbox. But how else wiuld you do it...

It takes over a day just to walk from one tile to another. I don't think you can really do anything else whilst travelling, can you?
Also you can't turn around until at least an hour has passed, which is bizarre.

As for the textbox, at least have different options for emoting or speaking! Gosh. Maybe there were options to that effect, but I certainly didn't see them. That's another issue, the game is ridiculously unintuitive. Sure that sounds rich coming from a DF player, but why does a browser game of all things need to have such a confusing UI?

I coulda sworn I saw a dwarven race on offer in character creation. Oops.
So, what are we all going with, then?

You're not supposed to be constantly on the road. At least it isn't Cantr where it took weeks to travel. That was dumb.

Looks like the devs there tried to reinvent the wheel and ended up with a clunky and deliberately slow-paced MUSH.

The Folk are counted to that. The races seem a bit more flexible then most games, at least with the Folk, whom can be from dwarves to giants, as I can see.
