How to see the conditions of the dwarfs?
« on: February 05, 2020, 04:08:42 am »

On the bottom right in mainscreen there was a indication about the health of the dwarfs : i don't see it anymore on the screen ?
Left top there are two indicators  : what is this for a indicator ?

To get a idea if the dwarves how  thirsty , hungry and happiness they are.

In vanilla dwarf fortress, you check their thoughts. Blue arrow indicates thirsty, red arrow indicates stressed. There's no overall magic monitor to rely on.

Generally if you have food, they're not starving. If you have booze, they're not dying of thirst. Just make sure they can get at food and booze and no-one is stuck in a tree.

You can see the health of a Dwarf besides the usual when you assign a chief medical dwarf who will track the health as they diagnose patients on the 'z' health screen.

This is besides the usual markers for dwarf states like Shonai_Dweller says (when they are affected, you can also see it in their anatomy page scrolling through the 'v' unit screen, status's like 'Pale' from blood loss can only be seen here outside of health diagnosis, it will also tell you whether they are stressed or focused.)

Probably some Dfhack addition. Not a vanilla Dwarf Fortress function anyway. Never has been.

Ah , yes that's it! ..a Df hack addition was it.
I read that the LPN pack is not there ready for the latest DF , because Df hack is delayed by some programming issues.

DFHack isn't "delayed": it takes time to figure out when DF has placed the various information that has been mapped, figure out some of the things that have changed, etc. It has taken time for every major DF release, and will for this one as well. That's normal. When will it be released? When sufficient information has been retrieved and it's stable enough to work, which cannot be predicted with any degree of certainty.

Yep, this was a nice quality of life feature from DFHack.

Without it, pay closer attention to a few favorite dwarves and check in on dwarves' thoughts often to see whats bothering them. I tend to just check two or three in the tavern to get a general feel of how everyone is doing.

I hope the dwarfs are not drinking too much in the tavern, because then they could be a little bit drunk  :)

It's reported from time to time, but was mostly fixed. There's a timer which (mostly) reminds dwarves to check if they're in a tree and climb down.
And they almost never climb straight back up again. Almost.

You can sort by stress in DwarfTherapist, but weirdly it seems to not be an issue any more.
I might just be having trouble lasting long enough for it to show up as a problem, or it might have been changed.
I'm having Fun starting near 3 towers so my forts don't last too long but have a lot of stressful situations.  I'd expect to see dwarves a bit more upset than they are.
