Recon has entered a martial trance

All joking aside, while we do need fresh blood to run the fort, this is concerning

Personally, I'm getting some unpleasant flashbacks -- have a turn, two skipped overseers, and then me again on the turn list is exactly how SmithSoldier withered...

Smallhands still has a lot of potential !Science! to do, so it would be a tragedy if it petered out. At the same time, I don't think I have the level of madness needed to jump into it as overseer at this point.

Actually, considering a lot of the forts floating around atm fatcat, smallhands is actually a fairly straightforward one to understand.

Most of the confusing architectural designs have been stripped away over time and the rest is either large empty spaces, staircases or stockpiles whose designations work at least 50% of the time

Besides, a little less madness might just be what smallhands needs. Someone has to organise the !!science!! before more occurs

Alright. I might be willing to take a turn in a couple weeks, then. I'll have to figure out getting the settings right when the time comes, but that shouldn't be too hard.

Hmm. Well, if things go un-touched for too long, I can always put together some sort of epilogue, though I've had very little free time for these sorts of projects lately.

Some fresh blood would be great, fatcat.

I probably will start in the next few days. Got any suggestions for projects that need doing around the fort?

Smallhands lives on! Glad to have you aboard fatcat!

There's the traditional reorganisation of all stockpiles

military might need reform, training or both.

might want to check on the skills? I'm pretty certain the fort is stagnating on the same dwarves again.

I believe one of the caverns need exploring. I dont believe we've grabbed any adamantine yet?

There's obviously fortifying the defences given our next military goal is defeating the goblin civ demon

If you feel up to it, we could make the surface flood with that aquifer of ours underneath. Obsidian trap?

Overseer's Log, Year 178.

Entry 1:
I find myself the only dwarf in the fortress willing to take up the mantle of overseer. Smallhands has been my home for 5 years now, and I have been happy serving my purpose as head mason. I recognize what the others here say of me, that I am highly intelligent, but lack wisdom.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Now, however, everyone else is too absorbed with the general holiday Malfoy proclaimed last year to even care about the basic functions of government. In this position, I am more than happy to take my time in power, and leave a mark on my home for posterity.

First and foremost, I am a mason, and under my leadership, stonework will rise from the sands, and a spire temple to all the gods of light will contrast against the darkness of Dimplesteal. Thus I will cast defiance in the face of the darkness that is slowly seeping through the land. Not only will I defy the dark gods on the surface, but I will mine the divine metal, so that we may back our defiance with cold blades of adamantine.

These are my greatest goals. I will look over the organization of the fortress, but most of it seems to take care of itself. There is no reason to excessively interrupt the leisure and luxury that has marked our lives for this last year.

ooc: I am having a really hard time figuring out what needs to be done. The tree irrigation system is the only project I am aware of that I have inherited that will need any action, so I'll devote our little workforce to improving our materials selection, and building a new grand temple to supplement the existing ones.
I had a picture from my dwarf's character sheet, but it wasn't uploading, so I'll add that when I get it to work.
