The second petition I got was for a cult. I accepted it, but unfortunately I didn't like the design of my fort (the only metal on the site was adamantine) and ended up abandoning before I could build a shrine.

How do you pick a dwarf to be a priest? There's no easy way to see who's a follower of which faith.

Deity of a dwarf is listed in the `r` relationship page.

In my current fort, the two popular cults both worship the same deity.

To my knowledge, and I might be wrong, cults form during world gen mostly. There may be other factors and other circumstances, but what it comes down to in fortress mode is that organized religion groups come from outside of your fort, by migrants. They won't form internally on the fort map. Which means you're sort of stuck with the luck of the draw. If that's wrong, I'm sure someone can correct me.

Prophets form religions in worldgen. But, while they can visit, I expect you're right and this is something they won't do in-fortress. Might be worth asking at the end of the month though.

He's not a monk. He's a bugged ex-spy.

A monk will only ever arrive as a visitor.

You need to set up the justice system. Appoint a Sheriff/Captain of the Guard.

Note that he's not spying on you. He's been spying on goblins/humans for you. He's one of your own civ's dwarves. And as an ex-spy, he probably has some useful combat skills.

Looks like this may be cleared up for next release too, which is nice (based on comments from another related bug).

Recently got a petition to make a temple for the "Cult of Flying" , a group that a lot of my dwarves are a part of.
After making a small room with a table set as a location , i quickly understood it wasn't going to be that easy, as being that small and such a poor room it wasn't considered a temple but a shrine.

After enlarging the room, smoothing and engraving it, then producing a statue with image detail set to Cult of Flying and have the workshop on repeat to fill the room with them, i finally got the room to reach the required value to be considered a temple.

Only then i would assign a priest role, my expedition leader became the Sacred Oar of the Cult of Flying.

From there :
- Why was it me that appointed the Sacred Oar role, shouldn't the group appoint their own leader like dwarves do with mayors ?
- the Sacred Oar seems to never spend time in the temple, the guy is also my fortress broker but i doubt that is conflicting considering how rare caravans are, and he likes to be the guy making bone bolts despite there are other with the job, i could sure turn off his job but shouldn't by default such a dwarf give max priority to his actual Sacred Oar role now ?
- Is there supposed to be something happening now that the temple request is fullfilled in term of visitors or something else ?

Toady said he felt it was unfair to appoint a possibly valuable dwarf as a priest without player control. I suppose all the systems will work to the same rules eventually. Personally I'd rather realism and dwarves who just give up smithing to become priests (and so on). But I can see it being annoying. I guess we'll get more options to tweak stuff like this eventually.

Temples and guildhalls are very minimal in fortress mode right now. Priests and sermons and guildhall training were added right at the very, very last minute before Toady called time. Hopefully see more with villains part 2 after Steam is out of the way.
