Can I get priests for my temples and how? Reading is giving me mixed info. I want a death cult with a high priest.

Not in this version, priests do exist in adventure mode, but only next version (which is set to release in the next two weeks) will allow you to assign a priest to your own temples.

Now that you can assign them, any way to increase the number of followers? I accepted an agreement to make a temple for a denomination but cant assign a high priest because it says 25 followers required just a position of "holy abyss". Wouldnt this piss off the dwarves if it takes too long to satisfy agreement?

I don't think you can press gang your dorfs into religions.

Unless temple agreements work differently from guild ones, the agreement is to provide the space and value for the temple, as well as the zone(s). Temples and guilds come in two sized, a base one and an upgrade, and I assume the high priest is a position for the grander temple, while your petition presumably was for the base version. I think the grand version requires 25 members for a petition to be issued.

And yes, dorfs will get bad thoughts from agreement fulfillment taking too long.

They want a temple, not a preist. They'll demand a preist when you can assign a preist.

Nevermind there is an option that says press p to recognize preisthood and assign preist, but makes no mention of the agreement being satisfied after doing so

Yea I had a message in announcement saying something about recognizing a priest for "Denomination of Mining" to satisfy the agreement. I did and never got an announcement saying it was satisfied unlike guild halls do
