"Get doon!"

Take my own advice - throw myself flat in the pick-up's tray to avoid any shotgun blasts.
Wait and see what the drivers of both vehicles do - get ready to fight if the truck slows down, stops or crashes, or to return fire if I can get my hands on a ranged weapon of some description. Otherwise, just hold on, keep my head down, and see how the situation pans out.

[Ben rolled 3+5+2body=10]
[Ben rolled 2+1+2wits+1fighter=6]
Ben drops flat in the bed of the truck and his ears burn as the shotgun blast rings out above his head. With that danger immediately passed, his pirate compatriot leaps boldy off the side onto the bonnet of the bigger truck. Ben sees a one-shot pneumatic rifle on the bed of the pickup and scrambles for it. As he's leaning over, the bigger lorry rams the pickup, and Ben tumbles forward over the side of the vehicle. He manages to grab on tight to the side, and there he clings, one foot just about making purchase on the side.

Then, to make matters worse, the other motorbike that was in the Church convoy begins driving up beside the pickup on Ben's side. The rider, dressed in leathers and wearing a black helmet with a white dog-collar square on the front is wielding a stunrod.

Laxfield Labyrinth
“Damnit... ok.
I think mechanical dangers will likely be some of the easiest stuff for us to deal with, so yes, we go south. I don’t know about all of your powers, but I can probably at least somewhat disable moving parts with sonic booms and keratin spikes, and if I can get close, I can dismantle them, and I have the experience with these types of things to have a good idea of how to do that all properly. Let’s do this carefully.
Now, we’re all in this together, so I want openness. What can each of you contribute? Because right now, we live together, or we die together.”
The mutants go around in a circle and explain their powers.

"Immunity to most physical sources of pain, my skin can't be cut or bruised or burnt," says Balthazar.

"I got a killer voice," says Chloe Fontaine, "like, literally it can kill. And shatter glass like those cartoon opera singers."

"It's hard to explain exactly," says Gavel. "I holographically project an image of a hammer from my eyes, and it feeds back information on things it touches, like dimensions, temperature, texture... it's like having a sixth sense."

"I thought the sixth sense was proprioception?" says Doc Stone. "Well, in any case, you all know what I do... I can burst up obsidian pillars from the ground nearby in fountains of lava. You've seen the walls around Bungay. It took me ages to do that and everyone else had to keep a safe distance away."

Finally Big Ben explains what he can do, "I psychically connect to people and talk with them at any distance, use their knowledge and powers as if they were my own... only so far I've only got it to work with other people called Ben, or Benjamin, Benny... hence the codename. It also takes a bit of focus."

Cautiously the team head south. They pass through a switch-back passage built to block the sight of the next section. These would prove to be very common here in the labyrinth. They come into a section with a ceiling. they can see further along the passage splits southeast and southwest. A series of huge dangling blades swish back and forth in front of the southeast passage, while the southwest passage slope precipitously downwards, the ground slick wet from constant dripping from the ceiling.

Spooner Row
Roll into a ball towards the 4 humans aiming to crush them or scare them away
"WHY CANT WE ALL GET ALONG?!"
P4 springs into action and tries to grab Marie by the coat, intent on dragging her into the living compartment and shutting the door behind them with a swift kick, hoping to use it as cover despite the the exposed cab, and trying to figure out a way to drive using his morph.
Back away from this mess while they are still distracted. While attempting that: Jorge, walk into the  outer areas away form me, give out a Tortle call, and climb up a tree. The sound should shatter their psyche just long enough to get away.
[Sandra rolled 1+4+1body+1millipede=7]
[P4 rolled 5+4+2body=11]
[P4 rolled 3+3+1wits=7]
[Auze rolled 5+3+2wits=10]
[Auze rolled 5+1+2empathy+1tortler=9]
The rain begins coming down in big drops, soaking all around Spooner Row.

Sandra, the giant robotic millipede, curls into a ball and rolls towards Dell and the others from the Keep. The Forward General of Norwich's outpost leads his people in a wild panicking run back down the hill where they came from at the edge of the pirate encampment. There they bump into Auze who, ever sneakily, has ducked out of the camp while all attention was on the big truck. He recognises Dell from the description he was given: this is the man he came out to find.

At that time, there's a horrifying tortle cry from a nearby tree and everyone around instinctively flinches. Inside the big truck, P4, the big cybercat, has dragged his prey ably into the cab and has slammed the door. He tries to figure out how to drive the damn thing. Marie is screaming and thrashing about. P4 starts pulling levers. He releases the emergency catch, thereby separating the cab from the rest of the truck. Eventually he finds the accelerator and the vehicle bursts forwards on the road west out of the camp, leaving everyone behind (including those humans P4 had so recently met). Too many bullets flying around to slow down or go back now!

Half-way down her hill, Sandra slips on the mud, and she hurtles off the steep side of the hill right down into the Spooner Row encampment. A truck is driving out of view. People are running around and shouting incoherently, they seem to be moving towards their vehicles. The rain is now truly bucketing it down. There's a loud cry of some inhuman beast, and a bullet pings off her carapace. Some of the pirates have spotted her within their midst.

Watton
”Now Mr. Killazilla and television morph, may I request some information about any passing or staying Tourist Uploxeds?, it’s of the interest to the Legends and your help would be greatly appreciated”.

Ask the yellow dinosaur and squat television Uploxed about any news for residing Tourist Morphs that reside within Watton, and ask around people around town for information about if any live here.
[Karen rolled 2+1+1empathy+1journalist=5]
Glitterbox's avatar turns red on his television screen and his eyes buzz with static. "That's a mighty leading question you have there lady. First the mob is interested in us and now the Legends."

Killazilla laughs. "I'll tell you the name and location of every tourist I know of in East Anglia for just 1 kudos. Two more and I'll kill one of them for ya."

Glitterbox glowers at his companion. Karen tries asking other inhabitants of Watton, but they're either too busy to speak with her or aren't forthcoming with any information... as if someone had just tipped them off over Nexus about her questions...

”Now Murdok I need a human engineer to improve my teleportation technology that is built into my morph, I learned from the Nexus that your the man that can do that. If you value the rest of your life spent on tinkering, I recommend helping me.
Coerce Murdok into helping Jager by improving his shadow-step technology and figuring out how you would do that

Murdok slowly exhales a puff of orange vapor as he considers the assassinbot towering in front of him. He gets up and stretches and peers over Jager's panels. "This is almost cutting edge Shadozer tech you have here. I've only seen one unit more advanced. If I had access to the quonbox or even just the schematics for it, I could upgrade yours. It'd be a pleasure to work on a machine like yours." He draws long on his digital pipe. "But... you might have some trouble getting to that unit. We sold it to a Legend operative calling itself Gh0st. No idea where you'd find it."

Make shadow tech more reliable - Part 1 - Quantum Interpretation is complete Jager gains +1 tally.

This next part is possible if you want to take it on:

Make shadow tech more reliable - Part 2 - Gh0st Busting
The Legends uplox known as Gh0st has more advanced shadow-jumping technology. All you need is its quonbox component or the schematics for it. Who knows where Gh0st is hiding though. Someone in Nexus, Watton, or the Legends base might know.

Somewhere in GML territory
"Either way we're probably better off avoiding it."
Turn the RV around and drive out of the smoke, then find a different route to Castle Rising.
[Burt rolled 1+1+2wits=4]
They avoid the smoke and take a different route. Two hours later, they are well and truly lost deep in GML country. The first sign of trouble comes when three armoured zebras led by a razor winged flamingo appear in the rear-view mirror.

"I can take the wheel if you want to shoot these suckers," Rovin offers.

Sudbury
Start on C4, keeping two eyes open.
[Ed rolled 6+2-1wits+1trader=8]
Ed sneaks into Sudbury along the boarded up highstreet and looks for possible marketable goods. And then he sees it. All along the pavement, there are dozens of statues made from knives. The statues are held together by some kind of putty, but the knives could possibly be recovered if he didn't want the statues for their artistic merit.

The statues are bizarre. One of them is in the shape of a huge cat. Another a huge hand missing two fingers. A third is in the shape of a shinto shrine. Then he sees the artists. Three women, clearly mutants, their hands full of knives, obsessively putting together the statues. They occasionally look vacantly at each other, words having fled them. Blood soaks their ruined clothing: two (one with a crocodile face, the other with a prehensile tail) are dressed in torn sailor suits and skirts the other, steam leaking from her ears, wears shabby military camo of some foreign designation. They don't seem to have noticed Ed yet.

Cromer
"Well, Timmy, I reckon they ought to be at least somewhat civilized. Maybe one of them will be a fan, if you did happen to find my books in their Norwich facility." Theodore said with a smile.

"Hello there! My name is Theodore Ansen, and this is my friend Timmy. This is the Walt Labs base, yes? I was hoping to have a word with some of your scientists, or someone in charge if it isn't any trouble. Or whoever I need to talk to to get to talk to one of those people." He offered an introduction as he approached the gate person.

I refuse to give up hope that I can't get through a social encounter without lying. But if that fails, lie my way in to where I need to be. This is just like the myriad scenes in my Bosley Starshift anthology, which featured an interstellar spy who routinely lied his way into various high-stakes poker games, restricted access bases, and that bar with the galaxy's best Nebula Martini from which he had been banned in previous novels.
[Theodore rolled 4+1+0empathy+0walt=5]
[Theodore rolled 3+1+3weird+1scifi=8]
The woman with the big ears looks at Theodore askance. She slowly pushes a button hidden under her desk. She nods and pretends to listen to Theodore for as long as it takes for half a dozen men and women to rush out of the main gate with guns and, in one case, a burning hand.

"We have a potential pair of bodysnatchers here," she says.

"Get on the ground!" shouts a man with a gun.

Timmy looks sadly at Theodore. "You're going to do it again. Lie again aren't you?"

It's the only way. Taking on the convivial air of Bosley Starshift, Theodore lets his silver tongue do the talking. "I'm an old friend of your leader, he'll be most disappointed if you shoot me."

And the lie is almost the truth.

"Stand down, stand down," says a older gentleman in a white suit, jogging up to them out of the gates. "I've been waiting for these two lost friends for a while now. The rubbery one is harmless but the one with the whiskers is a Code 17."

Immediately, the assembled men and women hurry to grab ear plugs from inside pockets and apply them to their ears. The older man gives them a series of hand signals and together Theodore and Timmy are escorted into the zoo. In what was once the zookeeper's office, the white suited man bids them to sit down.

"My name is Jackson Davis," he says to them. "I helped make you both who you are today. I'm sure you have a lot of questions, but know that I will not tolerate powers being used against me. Now... how can I be of assistance?"

Deep in the Broads
Not much to do except wait for morning, then.  Although priority would be on mission #1, investigating that laptop first.  I can broadcast after I have a power source I own, so I can do so reliably.  If nothing occurs, investigate that hard drive tomorrow.

Fill slot #2 with whatever the next goal will be for the broadcast one, so probably 'acquire some kind of power source.'  I'd be happy getting it from the churce or the eye of gaia, as I haven't stolen from either of them in a while.
[Sandeep rolled 1+4+2wits=7]
[Sandeep rolled 6+3+2wits=11]
Sandeep sleeps until the next morning when lets the sun do its business on the solar panels. Eventually the moment of truth. He boots up the laptop with the correct cable and sees for the first time in this strange new world the loading screen of a computer waking up.

He's greeted by a password prompt. It takes the whole morning to type in every obvious possibility including PASSWORD, password, 123abc, password123, admin, qwertyuiop, and so forth. Sandeep eventually manages to log in to the guest account (with the password 'guestpassword') with no access to whatever files the main user (someone called M.Harmon) had had. He plugs in the external hard-drive. The file directory is labyrinthine but not password protected. It's the full backup of the Nexus-2 Project.

A lot of it relates to the technical specifications regarding a replacement of existing internet protocols. They're not easy to find, but Sandeep uncovers some high level design documents which explain the whole thing in more detail. The Nexus technology was a sort of successor to the world wide web: a network not made up of normal computers, but made up of computers running on a hardware of human brains. Implants had been invented which allowed computers to use the processing power of a brain. The Nexus was a network of these brains, where the implanted could share their thoughts, share web pages and so forth, using radio-frequency to broadcast the data between themselves.

The Nexus-2 project was to take this to a whole new level. Allow those brains to digitally mapped and uploaded into computers which then emulated those brains. The process necessarily destroyed the brain, but would allow the person to be uploaded losslessly, or uploxed as the term was. The Paradise Solutions was only one organisation of many working on this. Their speciality was in crafting pleasurable zones which they called 'heavens', webs of experience which would gift an uploxed an eternity of bliss. The catch was, the company would use most of their client's emulated brain power for their own purposes, leaving only that which was required to keep the pleasure simulation ongoing.

Sandeep doesn't understand how the software works, but he discovers a well documented tool for resetting the heavens: this would kick all the uploxed out of their simulations and give them back their full brain power, inevitably crashing whatever software is currently running using their brains. The program is a simple override which could be broadcasted to the orbital satellites where Nexus is stored, but a very powerful radio signal would be necessary: one of the radio towers. Sandeep considers what he wants to do with this information.

Attacking the Nexus - Part 2 - Power & Cables is complete Sandeep gains +3 tallies.

Sandeep takes on the following personal mission:

Establish mass communication method - Part 2 - Power to the people
Sandeep has a HAM radio. He wants a reliable source of power for it that isn't the boat (as he intends to give that back). He knows that several of the Uploxed factions have blimps which must have their own power source, so he could steal from them. Other than that, he could try robbing some solar panels from the Church.

”Sorry for the feelings of unpleasantness Glitterbox, the reasoning that the legends are interested in tourist morphs is to see if they have any information on the GML or other antagonists for us as a third party for information, no negative intent on our part. Is this is why you are a bit anxious Glitter, that you are a tourist or one of your best friends is one of them?”

Karen will approach and than try to calm down Glitterbox’s anxiety and try to gain the Uploxed trust, as well as trying to determine whether he is a tourist morph or knows any fellow tourists.

Well, apparently I wasn't satisfied having stolen fire from the gods, so I had to steal Fire 2.0 as well.

It's also not quite right.  It might kill all the uploxed.  It might just make them really mad and really bored.  It might just kill the ones that have nothing to do with the surface world.

And I can't do some damage as a demonstration to force negotiations like I wanted.

Still, it's something.

..I need some advice on this.

Start a new personal quest to meet up with Harjinder again so I can talk to her about what I've found.  I don't know what she'll recommend, but she shouldn't set people on me.  Or at least more people.

Start quest 3 and sail the boat up the river again.  Don't go all the way to Mob territory, but try to get close enough for telepathic contact with Mitchel

"Aha, I knew it would catch your attention. Just like in The Saturn Ring Scenario." Theodore was of course referring to his second-best-selling book, a part of the Bosley Starshift anthology in which Bosley, having been kidnapped and experimented upon, became the prototype of Mutacorp's Politico gene-treatment which made its subjects capable of manipulating people's thoughts and actions through their voice alone though causing the user's body to gradually waste away. Near the end of a book, Bosley gained access to Mutacorp's headquarters much the way Theodore had done, using his ability to keep the gate guards from shooting at him and knowing it would draw the attention of the CEO.

"Please be assured I meant no harm. I figured you would have the technology here to break them out of any negative effects of my ability since you have had roughly five hundred years to develop one. There are two matters that I wished to seek your help with. I seek a way to enhance or evolve my current mutations, and any information that your group is willing to release about the Hunger. I had a friend who was overtaken by it, and I want to help him." Theodore replies.

"Oh, also, who's idea was it to have all my books in the Norwich building? And you called me a Code 17. Does that stand for 'Mental Manipulator via Auditory Stimulus'?" Theodore recalled this from a list of codes he had developed while working on his last novel. It was supposed to be the newest Bosley Starshift novel, picking up after the last novel left Bosley floating through deep space in a stasis pod. He would land on a planet of human-like aliens whose genetics were prone to various, reality-bending mutations. The list of codes was something Theodore had developed when he realized the civilization must have some way of efficiently referring to the different mutations. Sadly, the electrical copy of the novel had mysteriously disappeared along with his notes, even the physical ones, one night while he slept. It was the disappointment from so suddenly losing what he perceived as his Magnum Opus that led Theodore to be cryogenically frozen.

Talk with Jackson Davis. Also let Timmy ask any questions he has.

Ben's eyes dart from the approaching rider to the truck he's clinging to and back again. He thinks quickly.

If I can pull self into the tray before my assailant comes within prodding distance, great! In that case, get up and strike them with my lash - aiming for their weapon-hand.

If not, wait for the right moment to swing my legs up and boot them in the faceplate, or at least deflect the cattle prod with my boots. As soon as they're dealt with, scramble back into the tray to catch my breath and grab the gun.

If worst comes to worst and I am zapped or otherwise dislodged from the truck, do my best to roll out of the path of all these vehicles - maybe get behind a tree that looks sturdy enough to give a driver pause, then take stock of the situation.
See if the now-riderless bike from earlier is nearby and if so, grab it, or maybe jump aboard another pirate vehicle to rejoin the chase.
