[Ghazkull]

It is lost to myth and the mists of time how the dilapitated old tower which stubbornly sticks out of the ancient swamp ever got there. Some say it traverses space and time, some magic experiment gone rogue, with a dark will of its own, calling those it deems worthy to its decaying body and showing to them the secrets of the Dark Arts.

That however would be absurd...wouldn't it? Its just an old tower, belonging to some necromancer long gone...guarded by a single skeleton of unknown heritage.

Its walls have mostly fallen apart and decayed, the tower itself slightly leaning, a gaping hole like a wound opening one of its rooms to the elemnts...and yet...yet the five of you felt like you were called to this place. be it by accident or purpose, the five of you have travelled independently or maybe even together, to this place.

Death Magic Library - A library of books dedicated to the sphere of Death. Mages may study here to increase their skill with Death magic or unlock one of its elements. It seems to let only one person at a time access it

Scrying Chamber - A room enchanted to aid scrying, along with several implements to enable it. A mage may use this chamber to gather information about the world.

Catacombs - The Dark Tower was built on an extensive set of ancient catacombs from a lost age. Mages may explore these catacombs in search of usable remains to reanimate. Other items of interest may be found here as well.

Enchanted Mirror - A large freestanding mirror which is enchanted to allow two-way communication with anyone who has looked upon it at some point. Mages may use this to contact anyone who has visited the Dark Tower in the past. the damn thing seems...somehow damaged...maybe defaced?

Living Quarters - Comfortable living quarters for six people, including hearths and separate apartments.

Storage Vaults - A large natural cave accessible from the tower via a tunnel provides a secure place to store valuables.

Enchanted Pantry - A large room which is enchanted so that it never empties. May support up to 1000 men a day at the tower, and allows you to provision troops before they leave.

Manaforge - A small room with a magical forge, for the creation of magic artifacts. Its use is difficult and time-consuming but can result in some spectacular items.It seems to refuse to work...

Name: Tessrym the Exiled
Description: A tall, lanky man with a dried-up brown scuffle of a beard and a yet fading though still stylistic hairline, as his apparel is mix of a dark charcoal tinted cloak and suit, the robes have a leather satchel attached and yet he carries his half-torn black tie and scratched monocle that he always seem to be wearing on person. Even more so, his body has a myriad of tattoos of his previous life a winged snake, on his forearm, a infinity symbol on the wrist from his previous life in a organized Magi system, and satanic ritual symbols from a time as a minor noble
Sex: Male
Other: Tessrym was apart of a organized system of Magi before however he was exiled due to his blood transmutations hypothesis and theories, then attempts at extending the life span of the flesh, his original work was first tests and work was from corpses to animals to eventual living human beings but failed. His own colleagues considered himself inane and lacked basic human empathy and the only pursuit of his own research to try and make breaks through which inevitably led to his own exile. Even before that he carried a minor noble title and was a courtier, but removed his progenitor attachment and forced himself out to become his own goals. However this background has made him ever so composed and tactless when dealing with others, he still has provides the ability of courtly grace when done. He explored the swamp as he is now a “nomadic scholar” as he refers to himself, but is clearly becoming more erring to the side of questionable sanity as it has been some time since contact with another human.

Name: Aliss of Ravenbrook

Description: Straight brown hair frames an exceptionally plain face, mostly covered by the travelling cloak and robe stolen from her parents. These cover a short, straight frame with, _ahem limited assets, which have thoroughly ensured that Alissa has been overlooked in crowds, ignored in love and disregarded pretty much everywhere else.

Sex: Female

Other: The world's consistency in passing Aliss by has fostered within her a moderate resentment for everyone everything. However there was little she could do about this until one wet Tuesday morning. She was sweeping the shop her parents owned when a grizzled adventurer entered. He hung his travel coat by the door and practically walked through Aliss on his way to haggle with her father who was restocking a nearby shelf.

Ignoring the fact that his daughter just got knocked to the floor, he started to argue the value of some random trinket the adventurer had pulled from his pocket. Whilst picking herself up, Aliss noticed a book sticking out of a pocket in the man's coat, and specifically the odd symbols on it.

Still pissed at both him and her father, she casually swept until she reached the coat, grabbed three non and stuffed it into her shirt. She then oh so carefully disappeared into a back room, before stashing the book in the back of a cupboard. By the time she'd returned, the adventurer was gone.

That night, she smuggled the book up to her room, lit a candle, and started to read. It appeared to be a journal of sorts, describing the life and training of someone who claimed to be an apprentice of Xan the Despoiler. A lot of the content went over her head at first,  but she understood enough. This book was the key to changing her life. It could bring her power, respect, fear. The book told of secrets that would ensure that everyone one would stop and stare at her, respecting her skill, envying her beauty and fearing her power.

And so she studied. With this book she was able to work the very beginnings of magic, but it wasn't enough. Thankfully the book once again proved irs worth. It spoke f the tower that this apprentice studied, and with a bit of guesswork, how to find it. And so, Aliss packed her things and disappeared into the night, prepared to do anything it takes to get the power she knew she deserved.

Description: Wirey teenage girl with brown hair and blue eyes. Clothes are fairly plain for a village girl turned Magic Explorer. Has a slight habit of letting the wind decide where she goes.

Other: One day decided to finally follow the wind. She's gotten a bit better at defending herself, and carries two spinning tonfa blades for defense. Still has a habit of listening to the wind to decided her next destination though.

 Name: Dr. McAbre

Description: A bespectacled man of the arts. His build is neither interesting or extraordinary, despite his thinness. His face draws little attention, bespectacled, hidden behind the large frames. His clothes are a little better, a nice black shirt unbuttoned at the top. It hangs untucked over brown pants of an dark brown leather. On another man, it would be stylish, on him, it's scholarly disheveled. That is how anyone would describe him, though none would take the time to do so.

Sex: male

Other: Dr. MacAbre is not so much retired, it is more that his last place of employment no longer exists. There is conjecture that the fire was his fault, but nothing substantial, hollow whispers at best. Nothing one could prove at least. He is a scholar, though none would conflate him with a gentleman. While polite, for the most part, he comes off as disinterested not only in my what one has to say, but the fact that they exist. For those who have felt the piercing intensity of the madness behind his glasses, disinterest is greatly preferable. Now he is here, and for some reason, you feel that's for the best.

Name: Marvio "the Fat" Crownflask

Description: A rotund, jolly-looking man with short black hair and green eyes.

Sex: Male

Other: Marvio comes from a long line of distinguished chefs and gourmands, and was the personal chef of a rather distinguished baron. Unfortunately the baron was a man of exceedingly poor taste, who repeatedly snubbed Marvio's fine cuisine in favor of flavorless pig feed. To a man who takes his craft as seriously as Marvio, this simply wouldn't do, and he eventually left the baron's service and swore revenge. Reasoning that foul sorcery might allow him to take his revenge while maintaining a comfortable lifestyle, he began studying it where possible, eventually being drawn to a curious tower in the middle of nowhere.

Prologue Turn 1

It had been quite some time since the tower had attracted new apprentices. As always it were five. Five to start things off.

A vengeful chef, a madman of science, a scholar, an explorer following her whims and a shopkeep.

At a rough glance none of them seemed to have anything in common...except for one thing: all five of them stood inside the dilapitated ringed wall surrounding the leaning tower in the swamp.

In front of them across several hundred feed of low cut grass and packed earth a lone wooden chair played host to an armored skeleton leaning on a large daneaxe as if it was the only thing supporting it...which it probably was. A jawbone missing, it's skull caved in as if from falling rocks, its sockets sightlessly gaze across the courtyard towards the gate, directly at the five apprentices.

"I dont remember anything about that in the journal..."

Aliss slowly approached the skeleton, and focused hard. Maybe she could sense any lingering necromantic energy around the skeleton, if so she might be able to tell how old it is.

Dr. MacAbre was not in the mood for games. He prides himself on his impatience, which is among his best qualities. If this skeleton was magical, taking it's axe should be a good wakeup call.

Dr. McAbre takes the daneaxe.

"Well, wouldn't do to be rude," Marvio declares, hoisting up his fine silk belt and sauntering up to the skeleton.

"Hello, fine day, nice to see you too," he prattles, doffing his fine silk cap. "Lovely weather, must be off, always busy you know. Fare thee well!"

Assuming no response from the bones, he makes his way to the pantry and takes stock of its delicious contents.

Tessrym sees the respective individual try to go for the edged weapon that the quite imposing figure the skeleton was... “My fellow associate I wouldn’t try to agitate our deer housekeep, but your funeral though”. Tess sees the tower and feels as though his journey had led him here, and he quickly scuttles inside the tower, trying to reach the top floor.

Tessrym shall go inside the tower, to make sure he mentally maps out sectioning of the rooms, first seeing where the library is located.
