More goblinish and dwarvish pets from vanilla
« on: September 05, 2019, 08:45:32 am »

I want not add new creatures, but some change vanilla by adding tokens. Common domestic are for humans, dwarves need their own set of pets. Goblins also need more minions.

So, have any ideas about?

There are a few cavern creatures that could be made domestic. Elk birds would probably work pretty well as dwarven livestock/mounts (and could furthermore be seen as a dwarfy counterpart to the goblins' beak dogs).

Also if you're comfortable with sentient livestock, you could go the Masterwork route and have dwarves harvest plump helmet men.

It's actually pretty terrifying to think about having all of your fat melt off into grease because you started sweating too much.

Only elk birds? I need more, also analogues of cat and dog. Maybe, creatures for milking and shearing.

I comfortable with sentient lifestock in goblin fortress, dwarves have another ethics.

Hmmm...dralthas would also work as a milking/shearing option. Rutherers could be added as well. Best option I can think of at the moment for a canine analogue would be giant rat.

I feel scavengers make sense for goblins: vultures, opossums, and the like.

Goblins might have hyenas as canine variants.

Niths as pet chickens.

Maybe to pets:
armadillo, badger, bobcat, bonobo, capybara, chinchilla, giant chinchilla, coati, coyote, deer...

Blind cave bears would be good goblin war mounts. Dralthas as well.
