Dwarves interrupted by dwarves spam
« on: August 04, 2019, 10:52:20 am »

Recently my fort is constantly spammed by "dwarrf cancels task: interrupted by woodcutter/tanner/miner/mason..." etc. I read around that this could be because some of my dwarves are "hostile" but not fully sure what's cuased this. The only thing that'd make me think they're rogue is when a wereweasel and werehedgehog came and I killed the originals and the potential infected dwarves, but surely the spam would've been seen earlier. Tried expelling a couple too, but is there any way I can fix it without kicking out some of my better dwarves?

Not sure if this helps either, but most of my workstations are put next to each other, and it seems the spam is happening there. This includes dwarves stopping eating and sleeping, even though their beds and kitchen is 1 z level above them.

What method did you use to kill the potential infected dwarfs?

There is something to be said about, if the stakes are as high, maybe reconsider your certitudes. One has to be aggressively allistic to feel entitled to be able to trust. But it won't happen to me, my bit doesn't count etc etc... Just saying, after my recent experiences I couldn't trust the public if I wanted to. People got their risk assessment neurons rotten and replaced with game theory. Folks walk around like fat turkeys taunting the world to slaughter them.

I used a squad of dwarves to kill them, they were outside the fort after I expelled them and mad esure they didn't stick around. This possibly included one of the miners, but I think a few resident humans which don't seem hostile. Doesn't seem like they'd be the problem as it looks like some newer dwarves are the problem, some tantruming and other not, and the killing was a while ago

Tantruming can definitely interrupt dorfs.

What's a good way to stop tantrums? most seem to be farmers, and it doesn't matter how many I put down they still complain about the 4-5 plots, or won't build any more. Doesn't seem like too much work

A tantrum is one of several types of temporary insanity brought on by stress. It requires a significant, dedicated effort to rescue those who have descended that far down the spiral, and some can probably not be rescued at all. If they've mooded they're immune to permanent insanity (but not the temporary ones), while those who have not will eventually go mad in one of several way and die if not rescued. Rescue, exile, or kill them (with militia when tantruming or "unfortunate accident" when working).
The complaints aren't about the work load, but about other things. Farming is not a creative task, for instance.
