Core Thread
Welcome to Eastern Scaesia! It is currently turn -1, and you have two designs to develop and vote for. You will also have to write-up lore for your new country, but for now, a new name for your country and capital will do. The best lore will win a research credit that will help with a new design.

A few ideas:

1. An LMG. We're a bit early for GMPG antics like the MG-34, but something that isn't a rifle would be nice.
2. Artillery. We would probably want to start with something small like a 75mm field gun, but it's something we need.
3. An SMG, maybe?

Quote from: SHIV-26 "HAWK"
The SuperHeavy Infantry Vehicle - Heavily Armored Walker Kit is a bulky humanoid shape based off of diving suits of the era. A heavily protected engine on the back (protected even moreso than the user) allows the suit's bevy of gears, pneumatic pistons, and chains to function in accordance with the user's direction from within the suit. Being larger than a human being (as one is supposed to fit inside of it), the "hands" of the suit are manipulated by a series of triggers on a grip bar within the arm, while pedals in the lower legs actuate a variety of mechanisms that control the ability to walk, where lifting the foot reduces pressure on the pedal, which in turn reduces pressure in the knee pistons and allows it to be bent. The SHIV-HAWK is fully self-supporting, meaning no weight is distributed onto or through the person within.

The metal spherical helmet has a plate of bullet-resistant glass covering a front-facing viewing hole which can be covered by a protective metal mask that can be secured in an Up or Down position.

Two exhaust pipes extend from the shoulder blades of the suit to divert heat and fumes out of and away from the suit.

The suit is meant to be slow and heavily armored, designed to march through and withstand the hail of gunfire and shrapnel that defined the last war.

Herkules Armoured Attack Walker - "Herkules AAW"

Designed to replace the aging and fairly flawed ATT, The AAW takes advantage of the king of animal locomotion, THE LEG! Capable of traversing terrain much better than the caterpillar tracks of the ATT, The 6 Legged AAW is capable of traversing terrain hat is at a much higher incline, and going over obstacles that would prove impossible for the Flawed track system. Unlike tracks, when one leg is destroyed, there are two more on each side that are capable of picking up the newly created slack, While a single disabled track is the death of a vehicle.
The complicated interconnected gears and pulleys that operate the legs are protected in simplified armor along with their own preventing simple rifle fire from proving to be the death of this vehicle.
The AAW, instead of attempting to overhaul the weaponry of the ATT during this complicated process has decided to simply solve the weaponry conundrum in the simplest means possible. More.
Mounting 2 sponsons with cannons and a primary turret mounting a tandem gun of the same form, The AAW mounts 4 of our rather weak cannons, Attempting to prove the adage of "More is better" by overwhelming enemies in the field with concentrated firepower.

Goblin Walker tank
A foray into the field of Legged propulsion, the ogre is an attempt to improve over the broken and horribly flawed ATT and its ineffective caterpillar tracks. Fielding 6 Legs, The Goblin is estimated to be better for the traversal of treacherous terrain as well as difficult obstacles.  The legs, Propelled by a standard combustion engine, are a complicated dance of interconnected gears and pulleys in order to create effective locomotion. The outer shell of the Legs is Protected by simple armored casing, designed to repel small arms fire to protect the Walker Tank from infantry, while the joints are protected by heavy Gun shields, making it hard to hit the vulnerable area as well as providing additional protection for the main hull.

Sitting at a similar size to the ATT, The Goblin project mounts a similar gun and turret to the ATT, but differs in cutting down the number of machine guns present down to just one to buff the corners off of the cost and save a little extra space inside of the tank that would otherwise be used for the ammunition needs that two machines guns would create.

OK, simplified Herkules to get a better tank and our food in the door for legs. Hammer Tank compared to Apocalypse tank basically.

Quote from: Ajax armored fighting vehicle
Work on this vehicle started one Monday afternoon as a back-of-a-napkin side project when the engineers at Talos Corporation felt a tremendous disturbance, as if millions of motor pool mechanics suddenly cried out in terror, before suddenly being silenced. Shuddering collectively at the thought of somebody putting maintenance-heavy and breakdown-prone legs on an armored vehicle, they set out immediately to throw together a tank design proposal to make the horrifying idea go away. This collective effort caught the attention of the CEO, Luke S. Walker, and became a full-fledged project soon after.

The resulting Ajax AFV was a 30-ton vehicle with a turreted 75mm gun, three machine guns (two coaxial and one bow-mounted) and heavy frontal armor. The diesel engine, a hilariously robust monster of a thing, was designed for reliability over weight or speed, as was the powertrain. Clocking in at slightly faster than a sprinting man, the Ajax is hardly a speed demon, but there's not much you can do to make it stop moving. The tank moves on simple, reliable, and easy to repair caterpillar tracks that spread weight evenly across terrain instead of concentrating it on a handful of points, allowing it to better traverse hostile terrain without getting bogged down compared to other methods of propulsion.

Quote from: “M1926 Light Machine Gun”
The LMG is designed to provide some sort of middle ground between our standard infantry rifle and a liquid-cooled heavy machine gun. More portable than the heavy machine gun and providing more firepower than an infantry rifle, it provides our infantry corps with organic, rapidly-deployed automatic fire capability that moves with the troops, allowing them to better suppress the enemy and gain the initiative.

The M1926 LMG, weighing in at roughly nineteen pounds, is roughly a size larger than the standard infantry rifle. It is a gas-operated, tilting bolt weapon that feeds from a detachable 20-round box magazine on the bottom, allowing it to be more portable than a belt-fed equivalent and more easily handled by a single operator. Form-factor-wise, it’s basically an enlarged rifle with a box magazine and a bipod, enabling easier conversion training from standard infantry rifles.

We shouldn't do the Ajax in my opinion. This team seems to generally want to go walkers, and most of the difficulty comes from getting our foot in the door. We should focus on that and utilize the Rule of Cool and the GM's stated dislike of strict adherence to realism to the fullest degree we can.

You say that, but I for one wanna do landships. I'm not the only one either mind you. The Ajax is a first step on the path of the hilariously oversized tank. It's also more unique, significantly fewer AR Teams went for landships when compared to walkers/mechs. Could be a bit more fun though, I will admit.

That said, I'm not sure if I want to do the SHIV-HAWK or the more practical M1926 as our second thing... Hmm. I think I'll use your argument to help me decide. Beside, landships are sorta mutually exclusive with light armor no? (Yes, I am totally proposing a future light walker tank or maybe mech sometime in the future.)
