Passing on a save.
« on: June 27, 2019, 12:42:47 pm »

Hi everyone.

I was running a fortress for a youtube series and after about 30ish years of in game time the fort finally collapsed when a goblin invasion found a hole in my ceiling caused by tree cutting. It ended with the mayor and last dwarf jumping down a deep pit to is death rather then being killed by goblins.

I want to pass on the save to my viewers so they can download it and either take the city over themselves or go into adventure mode and travel to the remains of the city. What do you all use to pass on save games?

I've always just zipped up the save directory and put it on Dropbox, but the Dwarf Fortress File Depot was created for this very thing, I believe: link.

You shouldn't pack up the entire "save" folder, but only the "regionX" folder holding the fortress of interest (the other "regionX" folders are saves of different fortresses, and the "current" folder is a working folder used by DF when playing).
