So, this is back.
While Abyss of Traditions is on indefinite (though temporary!) hiatus, I thought it'd be nice to run a game parallel to Wiki-Warfare: Virtual Mortality v1.1, and in keeping with the theme of revitalizing old ideas, memory lane punched me in the face and reminded me that Chaos Chronicles existed.
The rules of these Chronicles is simple: characters are randomly generated with each piece of them divided into fragments that are then reassembled. As an example, Forum Goer X could submit a name, while Forum Goer Y submits a race, then Forum Goer Z submits the weaponry they use, but all of that goes to Forum Goer A's character. The fun is getting a completely unexpected character and doing wonderful things with them. Of course, you are allowed to re-roll the aspects you don't like. Say you got your character is a Race: Vampire, but you don't want to burn up in the sun. You can indeed re-roll this into another species. That species may be Race: Werewolf, but it's there. You have a limited number of re-rolls, use it well. What should make this game fresh is that I'm changing things around to make it more accessible.
You can have the same fragments you sent in, as they are randomized and the surprise factor doesn't diminish just because you are aware it exists. In addition, fragments can repeat. So, two characters can be Aromantic Bisexual, or named Peregrine Joe, or use mainly handguns. I found that both of these things limited how I rolled up characters way back when, as I'd have to constantly check the original PMs and the other sheets to find out what was from who and if something was used. In addition, I can submit my own fragments into the giant mix of them for some added fun. So, no one could have submitted a name, but someone's named that anyway. Within the sheet, these additions will be made Blue to compensate. And character names, weapons, whatever can be from licensed works. Don't feel restricted!
Also, stats are changed. Having all those stats to keep track of, coupled with the ridiculous numbers some of them ended up getting, is actually what killed my interest in the first incarnation. So, I'm streamlining them into more...common sense stats, kinda like Wiki-Warfare. Where traits and the like add Bonuses to rolls rather than having a massive overall stat.
If this interests you, then join in! In addition to playing, you can also send in fragments
via PM, wanna make that clear, to the massive pool of them I still have left over from the first game. Once enough players join in, I'll shove all the ideas I have for plots in the same randomizer and come up with a good story that adjusts to all the different things people have. Enjoy.
Fragment Types:
What a character is referred to by. A single fragment may or may not present several choices. (For example, a male and female variation).
What a character is. A humanoid form is usually preferred, but I say that if it works, it works. A race may contain up to two positive traits, but can have more if balanced by negative traits.
How old a character is. Note that this can be influenced by Race if said race has a non-human length lifespan, so you may want to include some description beyond just a number.
Male, Female or possibly a non binary definition?
Because its not a choice! Heterosexual, Bisexual, Homosexual, Asexual or possibly something else.
An ability that a character can use, or some other kind of advantage. Stuff like flight, Shooting fireballs, Trap Construction or whatever. Note that a character will have several of these, so you'll want to create a lot of these.
Like an positive trait, but more assuredly NOT positive. Things like disabilities and junk. This one may be rerolled a lot, so make a few extra ones.
A unique ability only this character can use. This is a big one.
A description of what this character does. A trait may be created to go along with this.
The tool that your character uses to hurt things.
A tale of this character's youth.
What a character has been up to lately.
What this character is trying to accomplish with their life. This will be what the player will be trying to accomplish in this game.
What a character looks like. This only covers the actual body of the character, such as skin color, eye color, height, weight etc. Approximations are acceptable. Note that parts of this may be overwritten by racial aspects should they come into conflict.
This covers minor details such as scars, tattoos, birthmarks and maybe cat ears or something.
What a character wears. You may include several variations for things like different genders etc. This fragment will have more free rerolls than any other fragment, so you may want to make extra copies of this one.
How a character is likely to behave in any given situation. A character may have several of these.
A song that plays whenever your character does something cool, or just a leitmotif. From Breaking Benjamin, to the theme song of an Anime or Cartoon or TV Show, to something off a rap album or video game soundtrack.
Have a character you love? How about hate? Well, if your character has someone in their lives that they have a positive or negative opinion on, go here!
I'm sure I missed something. Figure it out for me.
