Vanessa moved forwards as the heavy guards did, her arm outstretched as balls of light began to form around her. After a small twirl as she smiled to the rest of her companions she pointed her finger towards her target, the balls of light sent arcing towards them.

As their frontlines clashed and Grae received the first injury, Claire regretted her choice of tome once more. When they made it to Cuue, maybe she could fix that... but now, she just had to do what she could. Vanessa and Iris had the right idea.

Claire wasn't sure if she was thanking Kawri or Milos. Probably both. Though she couldn't complain about the results of her last attack, she couldn't quite bring herself to smile about it. Sometimes there was a weak point she happened to exploit; sometimes her magic surged beyond her expectations. Now she was praised for it, instead of being a nuisance to her foster family.

Fighting, killing... it didn't get easier. Not even after all this time. But it was her job, and at least she knew why she was doing it.
