I have an Idea for some shelter but I'm not sure we have the means to make it a reality, the idea is to take the wrecked steam-turbine and the wrecked boiler and pull them apart and build housing from the pieces and then bury the houses like the wooden huts.

Using the wrecked boiler as a building is a good idea. It's practically a good hollow metal building already.
I don't think we should take them apart or damage them even more though, getting them running and having some form of industry here is a long term goal.

Antarctic ice actually has quite a lot of algea. We should search for some. Maybe it's edible and maybe we can farm it. Gotta have some form of veggie in the diet.

I dont think mining out undergound areas will sork. This isn't dwarf fortress. Shale is incredibly unstable, needs a lot of support. We can't afford to use our limited wood for that support. Also with how long it takes to make a pit-igloo, it would take forever to mine any significant storage space.
