I think we’ve determined Alex isn’t an enemy of any of us. I don’t see the purpose in continued interrogation, or in threatening Alex’s life. The information provided would have been lost had it not been for him

"You disappoint me. You all disappoint me with your mindless bigotry and prejudice. You are tired of an attitude that does not exist in our crew, and you lash out for the most foolish of reasons. Who do you think we wish did not exist? and why? Why do you think any such thing? What action ... no do not answer. You are derailing this interrogation with such talk. If you think us hostile to you, bring it up after we've dealt with the issue at hand, if you even remember what that issue is."

I see. It pains me that you can't or will not see what parts of the recent interections between us and the rest of the team causes me concern. No, sorry, that's a lie. It doesn't really pain me, you being dissapointed is of no concern.

Anyway, have fun with your squishling surface troubles. You know where to find me if you ever want to have a dialogue.

Dissolve Alex's crystal box/prison. Leave the interrogation room and go gather some more rocks.

Then start making another crystal golem: Don't go for anything specific at first, just focus on the aspects of 'speed' and 'attack' and go with what feels right. Try to feel the spirit of the crystal (the material, not the Overmind) and let it guide me as I shape the Golem.

Seize Alex as soon as the box dissolves.  Don't hurt him or anything, just make sure he can't make a run for it.  Tell Gus (the NPC hireling) to tie a rope around his ankles, long enough to let him walk, but not to run.

"Sorry, Alex.  I still believe it is best if you are restrained, please do not resist.  I will see that no harm comes to you.  I do not believe Ashul even intends to harm you, at this point, though many in the church would strike you down for those words."

Nyw looks to Ashul.  "Do you have further questions?  I have questions of my own, now.  I am not yet convinced of Alex's loyalty, nor his disloyalty."

Nyw nods.

"Alex, you said that the Church's goal was preservation of humanity.  And you say that the warrior's purpose--and my own--was both to save humanity, and to defeat the comet.  The Cthonic god.  My purpose remains to be the protection of humanity, but I do not hold any hatred for Cthonics, nor the darkness they worship.  The warrior, however, seems to hold great hatred for its ancient enemy."

"So I ask this: what is the harm in choosing the side of this alien god which the warrior so despises?  Why would the best choice be war with the strongest organization in the underground, an organization which does try to protect humanity, and was indeed formed for that goal?  Is the Cthonic god so harmful?"

Nyw looks at Ashul now, his expression unreadable below his mask.  He says nothing more, but does tilt his head inquisitively.

AsHul sits quietly, hands clumped in his lap, attentive to questioner and questioned. He titls his head in similar fashion to Nyw, though in a much more awkward, wobbly way.

So, what now then?

Adam turned to Ony and, with a deadly serious expression, told him: "We stick to the plan, the one we agreed to. It's important we get a clean resolution here or it might fester and poison the group dynamic permanently.

That said, if you wish to do something else instead of waiting here, feel free to. Only Nyw, Ashul and Kara absolutely need to be here, and Alex of course, the rest of you are free to go do your own thing if you wish, we'll let you know when we're done here and ready to move on."

"I'm aware that the Church may want to kill me for knowing all of this and that's the problem. How do they protect humanity by suppressing the truth and killing those who discover it? They surely know more about their history and the god they worship than I do, so why do they hide it? If they and their god had noble goals and intentions for then they wouldn't need to hide any of this. What I believe is that the Church has long abandoned their founding goal and now willingly serve their god as a way to stay in power.

I don't know what the comet's goals are or what it's doing now, but I know that it came here for a reason and if the warrior is right, then this is just one of the many times it has visited this planet. This also raises additional questions as to why it left and where it went before it returned here. I intend to find all the answers to these questions."

Alex is freed...and then immediately tied up again by Nyw and his lacky. They sit him down on a chair and then stand beside him, ready to tackle him if he starts to make a break for it.

Meanwhile Clate wanders out of the room and starts poking at rocks. He attempts to make a new golem [16] but for some reason just can't get it to come together. He was close, damn close, but just a bit off.

Nyw raises one hand to his chin thoughtfully.  "Why do you say that the church has abandoned their founding goal?  And why do you say they necessarily wish to suppress all this information?  The Cthonics in our group did not want to suppress you, they reacted as they did because you chose to hide information from them first, in the middle of an engagement with an enemy aho is clearly opposed to them, no less.  I have not seen how the greater church wishes to hide this information, nor have I seen how their goals are anything other than the survival of humanity.  Perhaps I have simply missed it, their crimes overshadowed by more obviously wicked individuals, so please.  Tell me about their injustice."

He pauses for a few seconds, then adds.  "...And state your plan for the future, exactly.  You intend to speak to the leadership of the church?  With what aim?  What will you say?"

((for those of you not involved in the current drama, there IS a city nearby that you can explore for personal interest or to get a job or something. also there's still the Messenger Path to look at. lots of pilgrims, so you could join a tour or practice pickpocketing or chicanery~

Or Clate could use you to further his crystal agenda~ Or, hmm. Thre's always DIving INTO a sphere to explore.
Or crafting.

I don't recall if the Bore crew has any particular outstanding requests that need filled.))

((Here you can find a small, probably incomplete, list of missions or plot hooks we have available: https://dig.fandom.com/wiki/Current_expedition/event#Available_Expeditions))

Let's let Nyw keep doing his thing for now, his questions seem good, but stay on guard for shenanigans.
