Thank you Clate and Kara, for saving me
"You're welcome. Though I wish things were better. What happened there? I thought you were just going to pick up some money, that's why I went back to the bore. Were you ambushed? If I'd thought something like that might happen..."

Tell the doc to do whatever is necessary to save Alex or at least keep him alive as long as possible. The doc can use our medical facilities in the bore or we can take Alex somewhere else if it would be better. Money isn't an issue. I can go and buy blood for transfusion if that's a thing that's sold here.

oh right, here
Give relic fragment to AsHul

"Thank you. Your patience in this matter is greatly appreciated, miss."

TO the Bore Board of Directors: (aka Kara, Adam, Nyw)
"We need to invest in a reasonably secure, but not overly large, safe for holding crewpersons' relic fragments while on board. it would be easier to simply grant the keys to a couple trusted leaders than to have us keep their fragments on our persons all the time. plus, it might put our newer Divers at ease that their fragments aren't being unfairly handled by us."

Await Adam's investigation into Alex's condition. Discern the number of reinforcements of a [telazch]->[udyne] (body -> revert) Dive that would be necessary to get him to a reasonable state of health. if it's a meatter of bloodloss, consider [teazch -> Zon] (body->duplication) for making more blood for him. Perhaps done outside his body so the doc can put it in without risk of creating toxic blood directly in his veins and arteries.

I was brought to help with the raid of a cult. Why are we after a cult and why are they after us?
"The local police think the cult is related to drug trade and paid us to help the police arrest them. That's pretty much all I know, I wasn't involved in the investigation, I was busy with the Crystal ruins expedition while the investigation was going on."

"We have the choice between a quarantine room and a diving room."

"The diving room is cheaper, but having it might encourage people to dive while inside the bore. On the other hand, diving while inside the bore might be needed sometime in the future, so having a room for that purpose might be useful. Customizing it to have a relic fragment locker in there won't cost us much."

"On the other hand, a quarantine room might be more expensive but it's also much sturdier. It is also more versatile, able to hold both objects and even creatures. We can also pay a bit more to make the containers removable so we can carry some on the crawler if necessary. However, it would probably be ill suited for diving inside it, especially if we add anti-diving defences to it."

"Otherwise, we can just lock them in one of the chests in the storage room and trust that none of us will try to pick the lock. Personally though I'd prefer the quarantine room."

Spoiler: Levelup (click to show/hide)

Before leaving town, buy 4 cat/chicken size bugs from the town.

First give my two laser crystal golems and the snek golem some headpats for being good little golems. Then try and repair the snek golem back to its old self

Lastly, find a spot on the bore where I have some room and attempt to convert one of the bugs I bought into a crystal creature.

((Assume this is said at some later date should Adam prove to be too out of it this turn to do anything.))

"There is also the Containment Vault, which is kind of like the quarantine room but more for items than for people, yet also more robust.

A diving room sounds like it would be nice to have in the future, though of course even such a room would still require someone else to be at hand to deal with any entities that cross over should the procedure go badly enough. Still, being able to do a dive in the comfort and safety of our home sounds like it could facilitate better magics."

((In OOC terms, doing a dive in non-urgent situations away from the bore is safer should the dive go wrong, but probably more likely not to roll at advantage compared to doing so in a bore room specifically made for diving. If we want to start doing pre-emptive dives to enchant/empower things in a way similar to that of those blokes we just fought, not having to chug a silent night every time to be able to roll at advantage would be nice. Of course, if pw allows us to roll at advantage if we dive in any old location as long as we're not actively being shot at, that point becomes moot.))

"A Diving room or quarantine room are not necessary in order to secure relic fragments. A simple safe located in hte control room would suffice, assuming the crew have generally good intentions. Those options are a second matter altogether. However, on that matter, I don't have much of an opinion. I have been reasonably comfortable Diving in my own room, and cannot think of a real advantage to a dedicated space for it, expecially if we are trying to limit Dive activity on the Bore.

Unless we want to mobilize the room - modify a crawler to be a mobile Dive bunker. That, or open a gate to a separate secure location that would be used for diving. Oh, I suppose a Dive room would be useful for relic Visions, assuming we ever collect one of those objects of power."

Am I lucid enough to do anything this turn? If not, one entertaining hallucination please! If you can't think of anything, perhaps the mechanical muse will sing for us once more?

If yes, go to Alex and scan him with wizard eyes to determine what exactly is wrong with him to help determine his treatment, wether it be mundane or magical.

Oh, and one lvl-up please!

((Yes, I know I can roll it myself, but I've had decent luck when you roll them and I'm not breaking that streak!))

Looking at these numbers,  I think maybe you should have rolled them yourself~

The worst of the concussion seems to be fading. You're in the medical bay as well, sitting in triage as they try to stop Alex from kicking the bucket. You turn your wizard eyes on him [10] Your knowledge of anatomy and medicine isn't great, but you tell the doctor what you can about what you see, working back and forth and pointing things out.

Not bad. Endurance went up. Good time for it.

You dream of something. You are falling. Falling through stone. You can see around you as though in full light but you know you should be in darkness. You see the cavern passages passing you by as you momentarily tumble through them and then back into the solid rock.  Far below, you see a distant antilight. A point of glowing, burning nothing.  Your fall begins to slow, as though you are getting caught on spider webs, dragged back upwards.

Kara retrieves one of Alex's bloodbags from the freezer. The crew gives a bag of blood to be stored for just this sort of occasion; they started doing so when the medical bay was added. She sets it up on the IV pole and the doctor gets it transfusing.

With the information you have, you think that 2 and then 4 is a good number.  You don't need a massive amount of flesh, but the amount of repair is extensive. And it should be aimed exclusively at his chest. He has other injuries, but they're the kind of injuries he can get over. The chest stuff...not really.

We'll call that 14 Fathoms for your big bugs.

[5] You repair the golem. Well, not perfectly, he's a bit skinnier over all now, but he's as long as he was before.

You find yourself a nice empty room and attempt the conversion. [14] You effectively just push crystal into the thing, forcibly converting it by ousting the flesh and replacing it with the equivalent crystal biology. In the end you end up with what amounts to a crystal golem duplicate of the original beetle, but that original beetle is dead. It was just a disposable template of sorts.

The way a crystal creature is born appears to be by slowly torturing the original to death by flaying it apart with crystal injections.  Unpleasant.

The doctor says he has Alex stabilized. He won't die immediately at least.  His left lung and part of his heart are damaged though, so he's going to need surgery if you want him to even wake back up. Transplants to be fully functional again.

Lvl-up 'applied' >:/

If my help with the patient is still needed, stay here and continue to provide wizard eye assistance.

If not, survey the scene outside. Anything remain of any of our assailants, or any of their stuff? Could I perhaps find a clue as to where they were planning to run off to?

(Oz, I'm assuming you will be taking care of the dive for Alex, but if not or if you'd like help, let me know and I can edit my action.)

AsHul boulders into the medicary and shoves people aside, then stares down at whatever is left of Alex.
"I already put you back together once, didn't I?"

Dive: Focus on restoring the chest to a working state
Telazch -> Udyne reinforce Telazch 2x, Udyne 4x
Path: 4
Reinforcements: 6
Total Nerve rolls: 10
Final Endurance roll, Final Nerve roll
There's some question as to whether this will be at advantage or not, in the Discord

Rolled my levelup in IRC, got +Cunning +Nerve.

Take the bond that is our reward money from Alex, and shove it at Kara.  Tell her to go redeem it or get someone else to redeem it.  It's worth 3000, from Alex negotiating it upward.  Then leave the bore and return to the police station, with the two sidekick kids, and the two ground-level drug distributors that we've captured.  Turn in both of the criminals, along with the 25 vials of haze that was confiscated from them.  Try to find someone to negotiate with about changing the prison sentence of some of the inmates that have been arrested on drug charges, as well--Nyw promised some of those inmates that he'd try and help them out in exchange for their help with the investigation, and changing their sentence to "community service" under his watch seems like a great way to fulfill that promise.

...Also, just keep an eye on how the cultists are being treated.  Nyw still does not trust this police force.

"Umm... OK. Are you sure you're going to be fine on your own? Maybe you should take Clate or Adam with you as backup, in case you encounter more divers or ranged combatants. Or maybe you can escort me to the bank and then I can escort you to the police station. Or I can always go and cash the money out later, it's not like we really need them right now. We could even take the crawler."

Lock the 3000 fathom check in the Nomad's storage area and then go follow Nyw. Or drive him there with the crawler, whatever works best.

Irrelevant, how good is the banking system in the underground? Could we open an account here and then withdraw the money in Empyrean, for example?
