I was signing up for some website about 10 years ago now, and this is the first thing that popped into my head. After all this time, no one ever pronounces it right the first time.

I sign my name this way, the ™ is actually pronounced "Thyme" but it's awesome that so many sites allow you to use various characters in usernames like that.

Way back when, some of my friends were trying to come up with a guild name in WoW, and Latin names were popular on our server. Since most of us were starting over on horde characters, we settled on something like Intereo Fidelis. I used Intereo for a bit, before deciding that it should probably be Interus. Maybe it's a bit "edgy" since it means dead or something, but I honestly just picked it because I thought it sounded and looked cool.

I had watched Inglorious Basterds a few weeks prior to joining Bay12. I was quite smitten by Christoph Waltz' portrayal of the charismatic, cunning, Hugo Boss clad villain.

Sometimes it's Hanspanda because Nazi pandas. What could be worse?

I played this old tile-based MMO called RPG World Online, or RPGWO for short. After flipping open a dictionary and pointing at random, I landed on Mephistopheles. I went with it, even though that name took up about three or four tiles' width and just generally obscured my vision.

A guildie suggested asking for a rename and suggested Mephy. I went for the rename but chose something else.

It's a Toady-Dwarven loose translation of the semantic interpretation of the phonetic decomposition of my real name [first and last]. (Translated literally it means something like Fruit-Paste Forest Protector, IIRC.) Elsewhere I use TheWakalix, which is from Feynman's energy piece and/or Yudkowsky's Learning The Teacher's Password. (I don't know which I came across first.)
