Byzantium is currentlly consisting of the Islands of Cyprus, Rhodes and a third of the Aegean Islands. It is a Constitutional Monarchy still ruled by the Tagares Dynasty since its forced exile in the 18th Century.

Byzantiums Parliament is consisting of two major Factions the Reds and the Blacks. The Red Party is currently in power and has a strong socialist bend. Their main platform is reunification with Greece and keeping the Islands economically strong.

The Black Party has a strong fascist bend and is a proponent of open warfare with the Persians for the retaking of the Aegeans and the everything west of the Bosporus.

Amusingly enough the Black Party has better relations with the Nationalist Elements in the newly freed Greece. Greece indeed does seek reunification however one of the major demands preventing thus is the reinstation of the Armenios dynasty which was in power before the fall of the Empire.

Byzantium Foreign Relations Department is going strong, extremely good relations with Yugoslavia, Greece and the Jomsvikings, as well as an Alliance with Japan and by necessity with Swabia have protected it well from both the depredations of the Persians and renewed religious warfare by the Italians.

Byzantium has a strong hatred towards Catholic Christianism ever since the Balkan Crusades in the 18th Century which saw the loss of the Byzantine Empire to Italy. Later wars in the 19th and 20th Century by the Germans saw those territories lost to Italy but not in the hands of Byzantium. The Germans unwilling to organized who exactly got what left the territories to rebel on their own, gleefully suppling weapons to whomever cared. The oppressed people of the Balkans of course gleefully accepted those weapons to drive out the Italians. A short lived Byzantine resurgences in Constantinople however was ruthlessly stamped out by the Shahs of Persia in the late 19th Century.

relative to your size. YOu have a population of 2 million and a tiny army and navy. But compared to bigger nations you are awfully militarized and have one of the most impressive navies in the world. That is relatively. <for example you have more people mobilized than Swabia in comparison. But you have a military about a thousandth of their size.
