.305 Reseph-Vizier Series 1 Service Rifle Model 1900
Despite the flaws of the 'Vera', many of it's components are revolutionary and vital to the success of our army. By applying the box magazines to our rifle, we get a serviceable main weapon that's more effective than it's counterpart in service with the Karikhitans.

Very Hard: 2
Carrera 'Vera' Series 1 Model 2 Self Loading Light Battle Rifle:
The Vera is a excellent example of why Reseph should be the one designing rifles, and Carrera should stick to machine guns. Its also a great example of why they should never be allowed to argue with each other, as that happened every single day before the design was chosen and even after. The many and we mean many prototypes we have made have always had some sort of flaw that wouldn't be so much of a flaw if it was a machine gun. Things like, it weighing a lot more then any normal rifle should, the gun being inaccurate, the gun barrel actually needing to be replaced, and sometimes jamming. Of course, those where the prototypes, currently, it is actually about 20 pounds, very large and unwieldy, not very accurate, and jams in a way that makes it change from a rifle to a club unless you disassemble the box magazine and the firing mechanism. Now, that's not to say that the design and the idea of a semi automatic rifle shows promise but in its current state, its more or less useless. Costs 1 ore

It is now the Revision Phase, The Pharaoh hopes to avoid another Project Hippo in terms of how long it takes for the design to come out to our soldiers...

Plan Fix The Damn Thing This Really Doesn't Need A Dedicated Description (and make the barrel 20" because it doesn't change the length of the gun or it's weight god damn it)

- Increase Vera barrel length to 20" because we can do that without changing it's weight or length as stated in the original design. (Obviously also fix the damn thing, if it wasn't clear in the name)
- Add a 10 round detachable mag to the .305 Reseph-Vizier. This has the bigger priority so we at least get something out of the revision, since this is Easy or Trivial as per the discord.

Very Hard: 4
F.T.D.T.T.R.D.N.A.D.D:
Well, we got the box magazine and the additions to the Reseph-Vizier we wanted, however we wheren't able to fix everything we wanted for the Carrera, we manage to make it stop jamming so bad that we need to bring it back to a factory to fix, and we managed to make it weigh less by ten pounds, however, its still very inaccurate and unwieldy. Tests with the new Reseph-Vizier, commonly referred to as the Reseph-Vizier Series 2 or RV S2 for short, is naturally much faster firing and quicker to reload then the old Reseph-Vizier, and it doesn't have any issues either to boot being more or less a flat up upgrade to our old bolt action rifles. Of course, we wish we could have done more for the Carrera but alas we didn't have the time to fix the two remaining issues, but its a start at the very least.

It is now the Battle Phase, The Pharaoh is happy with your work...Although, you can hide the new Carrera under a project should you wish.

Great! We've got ourselves a potent Reseph-Vizier which is flat-out better than the enemy's standard service rifle, and we made the Vera not suck to boot! I still think we should hide the Vera given it's inaccuracy and unwieldiness but the experience in bullpup design should contribute to future SMGs and heavy sniper rifles - which are important roles for the weapon - and which will come into play relatively soon~. I've already got an SMG planned for next turn to give us an edge at close range, and a revision meant to give us proper uniforms, grenades and sidearms.

Anywho, I propose the following attack plan.

Don't Hide the Vera (0):

My reasoning is the following. What's been noted to stop us in the Swamp is our lack of a better rifle to counter their own. While their more mobile machine guns might also stop us this turn, it's a better bet than the ruins, where their machine gun has a bigger role in combat. Also, pushing the swamp stabilizes our borders as follows:

                 Karikhita Cap
    /                    |                \
Forest             Plains        Jungle Island
|                        |                   |
Mountains         Hill          Ancient Ruins
|                        |                   |
Swamp          Villages       Mountains
|                        |                   |
Savannah       Desert        Tropic Forest
|                        |                   |
Jungle             Farm          City Island
    \                    |                 /
                  Nafuna Cap

Giving us a buffer, and the resources compare as follows:

Jungle 1 oil, 1 wood
Farm 2 Ore
City Island 2 Ore

Tropical Forest 1 wood, Manganese
Desert 2 Oil
Savana 1/2 Ore

Swamp 1 oil, Aluminum
Villages 1 Ore, 1 oil
Island Mountain 1 ore, Titanium

Mountains 1/2 ore
Hills 1 ore, 1 oil
Ruins 1 Ore, Manganese

Forest 1 wood 1 oil
Plains 1 ore 1 oil
Jungle island 1 wood 1 ore

Debated:
1 Ore, Manganese (Ruins) - 1 Ore, Aluminum (Swamp)

This would influence the resources overall as follows:
Karikhita: 5/6 Ore, 3 Oil, 2 Wood, Manganese (1 Land TC available, assuming between 1 and 3 Sea TC)
Nafuna: 7/8 Ore, 4 Oil, 2 Wood, Manganese, Aluminum, Titanium (3 Land TC available, 3 Sea TC available)

Here we'd want to branch out, since we already get Manganese from the Tropical Forest, and the Khants wouldn't really get much in terms of exotics, only having the manganese from the ruins which we will reclaim in the turns to follow, and they're already far back in terms of conventional resources. Currently, we hold a major edge in the conflict, tho it should become noticeable in the coming turns when we are able to fully use it - when we fully industrialize. Additionally, our cannons become cheap this turn and we rank up in terms of industrialization, with our trains being established and potentially hidden from the enemies.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

As for the Hills, due to our new, improved guns and our superior artillery becoming cheap, we should push them back easily, seeing as those were the biggest issues noted last turn:

We should really spend a full design making that Carrera accurate, lighter and have a larger or easier to reload clip or fix the barrel issues.

A good service rifle will do for the rest of the game pretty much while we can work on making armored cars and blimps and whatnot once we upgrade our industry.

Actually, would an actual car be a bad idea at this point or in a turn or two?  We could make it a truck and use it for logistics.

Honestly, we could try to get stormtroopers by designing an SMG and revisioning either our uniforms, grenades and a pistol (VH, drops anything below success that makes it higher difficulty given priority) or spotting kite balloons, as Joe has said it'd increase artillery range - though I feel like the former option is more worthwhile. Once we get an internal combustion engine and wireless telegraph, spotting planes would be more effective.

The Vera, while providing a boost to our knowledge on bullpups that would benefit the SMG, is something I'd rather work off of for an assault rifle that'd function as our service rifle, given a selector, and the SMG would turn down the difficulty on an assault rifle (from Very Hard to Hard), increasing our odds of getting a proper service rifle in.

A truck would be a good idea, as it'd allow for more rapid and versatile troop deployment, as well as potentially supplement our train TC.

Battle Report 11, 1900
This year, despite our best efforts, we only managed to make the Reseph-Vizier Series 2 Service Rifle Model 1900, which is a fine match against the Karikhitans own rifle, having a detachable box magazine allowing quick reloads and being able to hold ten bullets allowing it to be fired more and loaded faster. However our efforts with the Vera are still not good enough for military work. Though we expect that we will be able to change a few things and have the rifle up to standard in another year.

The Karikhitans meanwhile...made nothing actually. Nothing we know about anyway. Although, we have heard rumers about something known as "Project Horse". Other then that, we have no information on what they possibly could be up to.

Battle Report, Naval Combat: Naval Combat hasn't changed too much in the past year, it remaining the same as the last. Generally speaking, we are still able to do the damage we did last year, but we don't have the speed to sink every ship we see, and the Luu's have decided the best way to deal with us is lead our ships on a goose chase while our ships just fire at them hoping they will hit, which they rarely do. Still, we have the advantage, and they wont sink any of our transports any time soon, at least there is that. We still hold a minor advantage.

Battle Report, Mountains. Attackers, Karikhita: Our new Reseph-Vizier Series 2 is extremely useful here. Being the same gun but without the constant need to reload after a single shot makes it much more versatile and generally useful then it would be otherwise, and it gives our riflemen a much better chance against the Khants. This, combined with nothing changing here since last time makes defense just that little bit easier for our soldiers, despite their greater mobility which in and of itself is hampered by the rocky terrain. This allows us to hold the line with respectable ease, not allowing Karikhita to advance. [Nafuna 4/4, Karikhita 0/4]

Battle Report, Hills/Villages. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: The battle here has changed in our favor to an extent. Our new rifle, better then the Karikhitans, is extremely useful against them and once again it proves its worth. Sadly, the time of which the rifle was king of the battlefield is past us and now it belongs to Artillery, which we all already know the story of. Also of note is the general lack of mobility for our machine guns makes our advances minimal, while the Karikhitans advances are quite efficient due to the backing of artillery and their own machine gun, while not being as powerful as our own, is much much more mobile. Of course, its quite obvious we don't advance and take the hills, which is why we quickly went on the defensive...and then we where pushed back, and now the villages wont be able to provide for the war effort. [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]

Battle Report, Swamp. Attackers, Nafuna: The Artillery that Karikhita uses to make our lives a living hell are luckily not present in the swamp. Because of this, we can fight hard and strong with our brand new rifle in our hands. And fight we do, our rifle being able to push the scales of most skirmishes in our favor slightly. However, whenever the Karikhitans have a machine gun, that's when things go poorly. As while the swamp is mostly unable to support heavy weapons, their machine gun can be used in more places then we would like due to how light it is. And our own is to heavy to be used in even half the locations they can use it in. Although we do get decent amounts of success here and make a few decent pushes, we are ultimately pushed back due to the use of their machine gun, and because of such, we are unable to take any ground. [Nafuna 0/4, Karikhita 4/4]

Outside world and Internal affairs: Rumors of some kind of sabatage happening in Karikhita have reached us and, the Pharaoh seems quite pleased about this and has sent word that if the sabatour could be found, she would like them brought to her personally, as they might be of use. It also should be mentioned that a proper railway is up, and our factories are producing things much faster then before, including our Artillery. In other news, the United States gains control over Tutuila in Samoa and several smaller Pacific islands. The United States and the United Kingdom sign treaty for Panama Canal. British Prime Minister Lord Salisbury rejects peace overtures from the Boer leader Paul Kruger as demanding too favorable terms. Japan uses its influence over Korea to deny Russia's efforts to obtain a naval station at Korean Port of Masampo. Recognizing that the war in South Africa is going to take a major commitment, British parliament passes the War Loan Act, calling for £35 million to support the fight against the Boers.  Baron Von Ketteler, German Minister, decides to go to the Chinese authorities to demand more guards for European protection from Boxers and is killed by Boxers en route. The Russian Tsar orders that Russian must be the official language of Finland, despite growing unrest within Finland and increasing international concern over Russia's behavior there. And an allied expeditionary force, made up of Japanese, Russian, British, French and American troops, sets off from Tientsin for Peking, China, to put down Boxer rebellion.

Meanwhile on Arnot The nations of Königreich des schwarzen and Deyrnas y blaidd wyn have, after some time testing out both rifles, decided to go with the Reseph-Vizier Series 2 Service Rifle Model 1900, as its slightly better then the Karikhitan Burgud. In exchange, the Pharaoh asked if they knew anything about the saboteur who struck Karikhita this year, and surprisingly, both nations had a bit of information, in fact, this lead to some soldiers able to know his relative position and shortly after, some soldiers where able to bring the man over to the Pharaoh herself! He revealed himself as a ex Engineer in training to the Khan, and, due to the laziness of the rest of his team of engineers in training, he was to be killed by the Khan himself like the others. And, he managed to survive his execution and play dead, before being carried off to be thrown to the wolves in the forest, were he, once out of sight of anyone, took out the bullet in him by himself, and properly closed the wound before stealing things over the years until he was confident he was able to strike. He is willing to join us, and is willing to strike out against Khan Khan once again, we have gained a espionage credit.

Spoiler: Nafuna Military (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Karikhita's Military (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Map Lanes Reminder (click to show/hide)

It is now the Design Phase, Neferu is nothing short of ecstatic despite the lack of advances both on the field and on the drawing board...

Apparently I misinterpreted when our artillery was getting cheap in my report due to semantics on Joe's side. Gosh darn it. They're cheap AS OF this turn, meaning next turn onwards. We are now Tier 2 Industrialized. I will post suggestions for a design and general plan tomorrow, but here's a snippet from the Discord.

Stealing project Hippo would probably be best to get whatever the Khants are working on, hoping they continue it this turn so we get the best version possible. Design an SMG to negate their mobility advantage in terms of suppressive fire and dominance at close to medium range on the offensive while keeping our defensive advantage by dominating close range and low-medium / medium range, and revisioning in spotting balloons with binoculars for our artillery, which will be the same price, outranges theirs.

^ tldr: SMG would negate their LMG very effectively. Spotting balloons and binoculars for added range as revision. Steal Project Horse to get whatever the Khants are working on, hoping they continue it this turn so we get the best version possible (It's probably either an IC engine or something along those lines given the name - and even if it's not it'll boost our side).

Vizier Series 4 Sub Machine Gun Model 1901

With the experience from the Vera and the Carrera Rapid revolver, the Vizier Series 4 is a take on a light automatic weapon. Using a .355 calibre bullet with a small cartridge most suited to close quarters, allowing for a light recoil and easy rapid shooting. With a solid wooden stock the weapon is roughly 9.5lb in weight unloaded and 33.1 inches in length, of which the barrel makes up 8.1 inches. Fed with 20 round single stack detachable box magazines and using a blowback operation to cycle in new rounds, the weapon is promised to achieve roughly 500 RPM in automatic fire with the light round an heft of the weapon promising controllable and accurate sustained fire. Furthermore, the barrel of the weapon is covered by a perforated shroud to aid in air cooling of the weapon's barrel.

The weapon includes iron sights, though no mounts for any scopes as command believe it improbable that anyone would need one on a weapon intended for mobile offensives.

So what I'm getting from this is that you're basically going for a Thompson SMG - a conventional, relatively heavy, relatively long weapon by all accounts - no more suited for trench warfare than the Vera (though the Vera was pretty alright for that, honestly, so I'll give you that). Sorry for being so negative about it, what I mean is that you should more effectively employ the fact we've gotten bullpups to your advantage, so you could make it lighter and shorter, while keeping a high capacity magazine and the same cartridges. Hell, you could even go with a lighter conventional rifle seeing as the Thompson was a bit large for it's intended role - it was as heavy as the Garand.

Thus, I propose the .286 Cheops Personal Machine Gun Model 1901.
.286 Cheops Personal Machine Gun Model 1901
Following the need for a close-to-medium range rapid fire weapon to replace the dated Carrera Revolver Carbine, Reseph sought to utilize Carrera's newly found experience with bullpup arrangements to make a short, light and deadly weapon for storming and clearing trenches, fighting in urban conditions and acting as a one-man held machine gun on the field, much like the Karikhita's own light machine gun, which it was meant to overshadow. Continuing the wave of self-loading firearms, the Cheops has a fixed barrel which does not recoil, and unlike the Vera, it's roller-delayed blowback systems lacks a gas piston, and instead features a muzzle break to disperse with the gases and counter recoil. As the bolt head is driven rearward, rollers on the sides of the bolt are driven inward against a tapered bolt carrier extension. This forces the bolt carrier rearward at a much greater velocity and delays movement of the bolt head.

The weapon is chambered in the new R.286C01 PMG cartridge, colloquially called the .286 CPMG (Cheops Personal Machine Gun) which combines a flat trajectory with both range and power, as well as controllable and thus accurate sustained fire. The cartridge comes in 32-round detachable double-stack double-feed box magazines, allowing the magazine to use an inbuilt stripper clip which slides into the magazine when not in use, allowing soldiers to easily fill the magazines when needed, as well as making the magazine overall shorter than a single-column or shorter and thinner than single-feed double-column mag. The weapon is, overall, 20.25 inches long with a 15.10 inch long barrel, and weights 7.9 lb when empty and 8.42 lb when loaded. To further aid in recoil, the weapon features a rubber pad on the stock. Due to it's bullpup design, the weapon allows for better reaction times as more of the weight is concentrated towards the back of the gun, near the shoulder, and allows the user to more quickly turn in corners. The trigger mechanism is relatively light, making the first shot more accurate, and due to the low recoil requiring less adjusting from the user. The weapon can be fired ambidextrously as the cartridge ejection is downwards behind the magazine area. While most of the weapon is made out of metal, the stock and frontal handgrip are made out of wood to lighten the weapon somewhat. Auxilliary equipment for the weapon includes a leather sling and a front grip. The Cheops uses a flip-type L-shaped windage-adjustable rear sight with four apertures with settings for 50, 100, 250 and 500 yards, while the front sight is a simple iron sight.

Spoiler: R.286C01-RBT-PMG-90 (click to show/hide)

The difference between single-feed and double-feed:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
As you can imagine, the double-feed would lower the chance of jams and allows for a thinner magazine overall, though that's just a neat bonus.
