Whenever I attempt to steal items, I grab it with an empty hand, then jump away. This usually had better results for me when I was robbing conscious enemies. It even works on more divine creatures.

wrestle->grab item, shift-I to take it or you can jump back.

After playing this game for 6 years I finally learn the correct way to pull out lodged weapons

Are there any other secret shift-I uses?  I think all I knew about was filling objects with liquid, reading books and naming items.
