((@RGU Your sheet looks good!  The only comment I have is that Aleksandra's Motivation doesn't seem quite right; motivation is supposed to be what she'd be fighting for as a magical girl.  Why she would risk death in labyrinths, and not just ignore Pumsy.  "Payment for her wish" would work fine, though it's a bit uninventive, as would "because she gets to feel like a super-hero".  It's a less important trait for a ward, but still helps explain her personality to me.))

Are they just going to keep getting bigger until I fall?  There has to be an end to them..

Time to regroup with the other girls.  Do so by launching myself full-speed towards the giant spider.  Try to break one of the legs that's attached to the ground, aiming at the end near the thorax.  After doing so, launch myself up high into the air, towards a wire to grab.  This should get me clear of the creature should the other girls attack it, while forcing the spider to continue splitting its attention.

[Joy]

Gritting your teeth, you quickly analyze the situation and decide what to do.  You can't run away, that will only separate you from the others and make you an easier target--and you can't rely on them to make use of its momentary vulnerability either.  You need to attack now, while it's trapped, and put yourself in a better position too.  So you charge ahead, running straight at the giant spider's face first, but jumping towards its left side once you get close.  Almost the moment you leave the ground, the heavy plated limbs at the spider's front unfold, as small motors rev up--the limbs each end with a built-in chainsaw, which are swiped low, for your legs.  Their whirring chains pass mere inchs below your feet, and would have surely taken your legs off if you hadn't jumped at that moment.

[Bravery]

The monster overextended itself with that attack, seemingly forgetting that its front pair of legs is still embedded in the ground; its face crashes into the ground as you sail over its head.  You nimbly land atop its front left leg, pausing to steady yourself for only a moment before you grip your club in both hands and bring it down onto the topmost joint in the leg.  You feel metal bend and crack under your heavy blow... and immediately start tumbling as the leg collapses under your weight.  You push off instinctively, but can barely manage a panicked jump away from the monster, let alone a high leap to grab a hanging wire.  You hit the stone ground in a roll, a roll which continues for a fair distance before you come to a stop flat on your back, dizzy and disoriented.

You start to sit up, trying to collect yourself, but as soon as your shoulders are off the ground Mina runs past you--from the spider's direction?--and grabs your collar neck with her offhand.  She doesn't even break stride as she drags you behind her, away from the giant spider.  Being dragged behind the girl, you have an excellent view as the creature continues to try and free its two trapped legs, though all seven of its eyes have slid around to its side and are focused on you and Mina.

Tooru, already on edge, screamed when the thing dropped, crumpling and whipping her talisman at the spider-thing without much of anything resembling aim. Unfortunately, her first urge after that was to run away, a reflex that might have perhaps been slightly more useful were she on solid ground. As it were, she had to attempt to catch herself after she began to start obeying instinct and quickly found a lack of ground to place a foot; if she could actually manage to get ahold of herself and not fall to the ground, she'd try to get more of a height advantage on the thing and summon another talisman.

[Joy]

You screamed as the monster fell, and nearly fell yourself when you instinctively hopped away from the terrifying creature, forgetting that you weren't even on solid ground.  Luckily you were still high enough that you only fell into some lower-hanging wires, merely getting tangled in them rather than falling until you hit the hard stone below.

Asha manuevers herself over to you, and helps you get back on your feet within seconds, though she nearly falls herself while doing so.  You immediately look back at the spider, and see that two of its eyes have slid around and are staring at you, and your panic only strengthens.  You throw your single talisman at the monster, and then start clawing your way higher without even looking to see where the attack lands.

[Joy]

Only after you've climbed a good thirty feet up does it occur to you that you left Asha behind without even saying anything coherent to her.  Looking below you, you can't even see her through the thick network of wires and decorations, but you know she's still down there, probably too afraid to try either following you or jumping down and running.  You take a deep breath, and focus--you can't just run away like that, not yet, you need to fight.

Another talisman appears in your hand, almost without conscious thought on your part.  You've certainly got a height advantage now, you're almost to the central chamber's "ceiling" of wires, and you're close enough to the open space that you can still see the giant spider standing where it fell, though it's somewhat hidden by all the wires around you.

Mina takes a moment to steady herself, having stumbled back as the spider dropped - another monster... was this it? Would they finally be done with this when this died? Well, she didn't know, but she certainly wasn't gonna just sit around. She dashed forward, intending to strike at one of the stuck legs, doing what damage she could before it is freed and she retreats, ideally up to the wires and in range to assist and be assisted by the others.

[Bravery]

It takes you a moment to collect yourself after the spider lands, but when you see Alida fearlessly leaping into attack from directly in front of the monster, you're spurred into action and rush to help her.  All its eyes are focused on her, so it doesn't see as you rush up to its rear left leg, raising your halberd high.  You do a small hop as you get close, and bring the weapon down at the height of your jump, perfectly redirecting your momentum into a heavy downward slash.

Your halberd's blade smashes through the solid brass leg, roughly severing it and leaving a short stump that extends only inches out of the brass thorax.  You don't pause to admire your handiwork though, immediately rushing away from the creature before it can retaliate.  As you turn away, you see Alida lying on the ground ahead, stunned, and you slightly change your path to run past her.  Resting your heavy halberd on one shoulder to free a hand, you reach down to grab the girl as you run past, dragging her with you as you flee back towards Asha and Tooru.

...Only when you get close do you realize that Tooru's gone, and Asha seems paralyzed with fear, still clinging precariously to the wires.  She doesn't look like she's going to be very useful, and who knows where Tooru went...

She isn't really sure for what she would fight for, and it's also one of the main reasons she hasn't wished yet. When she finds a wish that would be worth risking her life for, her motivation will change. For now, it's just left as payment/feel like a hero because she doesn't know what would motivate her enough to make a wish and fight witches yet. Also Sasha is very indecisive and scatterbrained, which doesn't help with the what-to-wish-for problem. Once she knows about the risks and rewards of beign a magical girl, she will know what to wish for.

Deep breaths. That was supposed to calm you down, right? She needed to help, she couldn't just run away screaming. She signed up for this, and she had to fight now. This thing was responsible for all of the awful things that had happened today alongside who knew what else, and she wasn't going to let it get away from her or hurt her friends! She clambered over, getting more directly above it, and summoning a set of three more talismans as she went. Four was death, and death was what she was going to give this thing.

Start throwing talismans with as much power as I can manage at it, whenever I think I can get a good shot. Go for a hit now, aiming center-of-mass, and then wait for it to be distracted before continuing my assault.

Alida looks at Mina for a moment, and happiness shines on her eyes, followed by just a touch of wetness in relief as she stands up, out of her friend's arms.

"You came back.  Thank you, thank you."

"Now lets kill this thing."  Alida then assesses her wounds a little further.  "In a moment."

Try to assess how wounded the monster is, as well as if this is finally, truly, the witch, and how best to kill it.  Charge in if the barrage of explosive manabolts from Toroo ceases, but just hold back if the string of them continues.  An attack can wait until Alida is no longer the creature's primary concern.

"Can we call this an apology for earlier?" Mina half-jokes, before hefting her halberd again and turning to the spider-monster-thing.

Coordinate attack with Alida - don't want to be getting in each other's ways, after all. Aim for the legs, to try to either slow it down or reduce it's options for attack.

Coordinate attack with Alida - don't want to be getting in each other's ways, after all. Aim for the legs, to try to either slow it down or reduce it's options for attack.

Alida and Mina collect themselves, readying their weapons and watching the mechanical spider as it struggles with its last two stuck legs.  They don't have to wait long, as it pulls both legs free in moments, charging directly for them as soon as it's free.  It moves frighteningly fast despite having lost half of the legs on its left side, and by the time they react it's already covered half the distance between it and the two girls.

Mina's bravery cracks for a moment, and she takes a worried step backward as Alida crouches down, preparing to meet the monster's charge with one of her own.  Before she can move, however, a small scarlet projectile arcs down from somewhere high above, and hits the creature in the center of its back.  There's a moment of confusion as nothing seems to happen, and then the projectile detonates with a bone-rattling blast.  The force slams the clockwork monstrosity down into the ground, embedding its massive chassis into the stone ground and instantly halting its momentum.

The two girls jump backward with the shockwave, stunned and surprised by the unexpected attack.  They watch the spider for several tense seconds, but it seems to have completely stopped moving altogether, its seven glowing eyes frozen in place and no longer tracking their movements.  The actual wound is hidden from sight due to the monster's sheer bulk, but Alida still lets out a long sigh, slouching and letting her guard down slightly.

[Creativity] & [Creativity]

The blonde girl lets out a small laugh, releasing her pent up stress.  "Hahaa, it's dead, I.. I think we're done!"  She starts walking towards the corpse, though her club is still held up defensively, just in case.

Mina doesn't share her confidence, and darts forward to grab Alida's shoulder and drag her back under the lower hanging wires.  To her magical senses, the creature doesn't look very dead.  Miasmatic hatred and despair pours off of it, filling the air with an unseen darkness.  Alida looks back at the green girl, and frowns when she sees Mina's hard expression, tension returning to her body.  Mina releases her a moment later, and the two ready themselves for the monster's next move.

[Joy]

Fast as lightning, one of the spider's two left legs bends backward and reaches for the upper spool of cable on its back, the tip of the limb splitting apart like pliers.  The leg then shoots forward, launching a thick cable at the pair.  The blonde shoves Mina away and then jumps to the side, but the cable curves around in midair to follow her, the individual strands of metal unwinding from it and fanning out like a net.  It hits her legs midair, a numbness immediately permeating them as soon as the wires touches them.  Alida can barely feel as the wires tighten harshly around her legs, before the cable snaps taut and yanks her toward the monster, hard.

[Bravery]

Alida hits the ground but doesn't struggle as she's dragged rapidly across the rough stone floor, momentarily too stunned by the collision to fight.  Mina, however, acts quickly, charging forward with her halberd raised above her head.  She catches up to Alida in moments, and brings the weapon down on the cable just below Alida's feet.  The magical weapon just glances off, though; the cable is easily as thick as one of the girl's arms, and it's moving too fast to get a solid hit in.

Both girls then hear the revving of two small engines, and look up to see the clockwork spider in motion again.  It's still lying in a small crater, its legs motionless, but the two heavy chainsaw-tipped limbs on its front have unfolded again.  They're reaching for Alida, fully outstretched and flailing chaotically, sparks flying whenever one of the chainsaws skips along the ground.  Behind those two limbs, previously hidden, is the monster's mouth; it's a simple rectangular hole in its brass chassis, but an array of thick gears whir angrily, primed to catch on something and drag it inside to be pulverized.

You only have a couple moments before Alida is within reach of the monster's arms

Deep breaths. That was supposed to calm you down, right? She needed to help, she couldn't just run away screaming. She signed up for this, and she had to fight now. This thing was responsible for all of the awful things that had happened today alongside who knew what else, and she wasn't going to let it get away from her or hurt her friends! as much power as I can manage

You take a moment to calm yourself, and then start climbing forward and up.  In seconds, you're mostly out of the wire net, crouched at the corner formed by the 'roof' of wires at the top of the large chamber, and the 'wall' of wires choking the street below and behind you.  From here, you have an unobstructed view of the giant spider below.  It's still trapped, so you have a moment to aim and prepare.

You crush the single talisman in your hand, squeezing it as hard as you can as you dump magical power into it.  You've done this enough now to understand how to charge the talisman with mana, but you've never pushed this much in before--your body suddenly feels exhausted like you haven't been for years, like you just ran a marathon while sick.  The talisman is clearly reacting; even crushed into a ball inside your fist, radiant light shines between your fingers.

You start to choke, your vision swimming, and you cut off the flow, suddenly scared by your own powers.  You have to pause a moment to regain your senses, panting heavily while staring blindly downward.  Movement catches your eye before you can really make out individual shapes, and you realize that the monster is on the move.  It's heading straight for the wire-covered street, where you won't be able to see it or attack--you need to attack now, or you won't get another shot!

[Joy]

You're still somewhat delerious from your massive expenditure of energy, but your thrown projectile still manages to fly true, hitting the monster's back.  For a brief moment, it sits there and shines without doing anything more, causing your heart to leap into your throat.  Then it flashes, and detonates with a roar that rattles your bones even from this distance.  You scramble to grab nearby wires and stop yourself from falling, losing sight of the giant spider for a moment.

When you stabilize yourself, you see that it's now lying exactly where it was when your talisman exploded, though it's stopped moving.  There's an enormous dent in its right side, a circular indentation that's half as wide as the creature is long.  Cracks large enough to be seen even from this height fill the center of the brass crater, though the rest of the monster's body and legs seem intact.   Despite the clearly severe wound, you don't feel confident that it's dead... but you're also worried to throw another talisman.  You're not sure you have enough power to drain for another attack like that.

Your thoughts are interrupted when the monster recovers, though it doesn't stand back up.  Instead, one of its left legs snaps to the upper cable spool it's carrying at its rear, grabbing the tip of the cable that's wrapped there, and then throwing it forward, into the street.  A second later, the blonde girl is drug out into view by her legs, followed quickly by Mina, who futilely attempts to sever the thick cable.  You groan, closing your eyes and focusing on summoning another trio of talismans into your hands, the sensation of even that slight spell making you feel a little more sick.

[Creativity]

You're about to charge and throw another talisman, when you feel the wires twisting around and behind you.  You spin around, and see the thick tangle of wires unknotting itself from around another facsimile of the blonde girl.  This copy is much worse than the previous one--though she looks just as human, she's standing at an impossible angle, as if gravity were rotated seventy degrees.  Her eyes wander and dart around independently, a manic smile painted across her face.  She steps forward weightlessly, extending both arms towards you and speaking unsteadily.

"Please, h-help I, stay with they, they c-can't win, don't leave... Asha?"

Crap!  Now I'm the one with no leverage.  Gotta think fast..

Pull on the wire below me to get closer to the monster and gain a little slack in the wire.  Then use that moment to create a loop of now-slack wire, spin around, and shove the slack wire loop into the monster's mouth.  If that frees me, grab the wire in my club-hand, and attack the monster's eyes as if the wire was an enormous whip.  Cutting the wire on something else, like the chainsaw-arms, is also okay.

Tooru wasted no time, leaping away from the "girl" with a squeak of fright. The sudden motion didn't play well with the feeling rising in her gut, but she was more concerned with putting distance between her and her likely assailant than trying to keep down her lunch. She also had to worry about the witch below - and the other girls. She didn't want to even try making a blast like that again, and she wouldn't want to regardless; they were too close, always too close for her to stop worrying about hurting them. Maybe, though, she could try something more precise.

As I jump away from the "girl," try to get talismans into the cracks (and by extension the innards of the monster), using as reasonable of a power level as I can manage.

Mina recovers from the failed strike, and moves to assist again - come on, come on, Alida's in trouble!

Rush to assist Alida. Try to free her from the wires, or failing that, interrupt the monster's attack (preferably without myself getting mulched).

Hello everyone... Sorry for the disappearance which while justified, still makes me feel super bad. My computer got confiscated for a short time during early December, and then followed a family trip to a place cut off from internet. I came back last week-end.

Argh. I really hope I didn't ruin this wonderful game with my absence...

Sorry Asha ;_;

I will be calmly updating myself, then post an action if that is still within the realm of possibilities.

The raging sounds of battle echoed below and above. The cold sensation of the wire was felt in her hands with each heartbeat.

Asha was frozen in fear midway through her climb, still clinging to some precarious wires.

For a reason she could not explain, the fear she felt was exacerbated. Like a wound that had been reopened under stress. She felt herself waning, even though she had been filled with determination minutes ago.

She hadn't noticed, but the light of her gem was glowing with a dull light. Her body felt heavy. Her mind lethargic. As if an insidious force was slowly taking away her grasp on reality.

"Please, h-help I, stay with they, they c-can't win, don't leave... Asha?"

Her name?...

A voice called for her name.

A faint beacon of light shining with an unknown blaze amidst the darkness that enshrouded her vision and mind.

"Mustn't... give up..." Asha muttered to herself.

Asha attempts to muster enough fortitude to fight off her fear and heavy body. Where she to succeed, her priority would be to fend off close range attackers from Tooru with knockbacking attacks on would be assailants.

In the event everything would fail and a girl's life would be in danger, she would burn the energy of her Soul Gem to increase her abilities <Mobility and Close Combat> to join up the fight.

((@Nakéen
Don't worry, your absence wasn't an issue.  Asha didn't have anything important happening to her, and the others have dealt with the spider pretty well so far.  I'm happy you're back, and I hope you'll stick around; I rather like Asha, and have a fair number of plans for what will be happening to her.

@Everyone
I've been having a hard time writing lately.  Mostly, just been stressed about life, so it's been hard to focus on the game.  Update's about half written now, but I probably won't finish it until the 11th--gonna be busy tomorrow.  Apologies for the wait, I dislike slow updates as much as anyone.))
