He made a quick apology, and returned on the matter of the job.
"You are right, that was unprofessional of me. Allow me to get back to the details of the job."

"So, about the Black Riperius. First off, what do you know about them?"

Thomas listed the quick findings from his search on the Galactic Net, making sure not to look too gullible of what could be found out there. Lyon nodded, and completed the details.
"As you know, Black Riperii are creatures native to hyperspace. They are rather hard to describe, here is a picture of one.

You see a black form looking like the mix between a crustacean and the lower end of a snake skeleton. What seems to be the front body is hard to discern, what with all these claws and sharp forms. Your client keeps talking as you study the picture. Oh, is that thing is the size of a battleship?

...as hyperspace creatures, Black Riperius are, obviously, able to travel through the hyperspace. As if they had a natural warp drive inside them, to be very simplistic. Furthermore their bodies are but a partial part of their real body, we call what we see their realspace body. They feed on the energy provided by stars, and have a preference for the peculiar radiations emitted by young stars. They are known to attack intruders into what they consider to be their territories, the main problem being that, well, their concept of territory expand to hyperspace.

What that means is that their aggression range is really hard to guess, while for example you could have a lone Black Riperius living in a given system, he could attack you two systems away because an hyperspace path you took coincided with his territory. The reverse can happen too, sometime part of the system a Black Riperius lives in won't be part of its territory."

He then explained what was dangerous about them.
"Oh right, now about their means of protection. They can release the energy they accumulate through what we call a starbreath. Basically a wind of plasma. They can also damage warp drives from a distance, by directly attacking them through the hyperspace. They can also resort to more physical means if they feel inclined to, their "jaws" and "claws" are strong enough to tear a civilian ship's hull apart."

He finally added:
"There is a good new though, it seems the Black Riperius sighted around Xoa is a young one. We may not even have to fight it, as juvenile Riperius tend to avoid confrontation. And it wasn't confirmed that Xoa was its home system."

"Huh? Was this not the way I came from? Am I lost? Eh, no matter! I'll find my way back, I'm sure of it!"

Search around for someone nearby who can give me directions back to the hangar where the ship is. If I find no one, investigate the huge freighter. Also take a picture.

"And what if your estimates of it are wrong, or it's not alone?" asks Thomas. "Our ship is combat capable, but I'm not sure we can take on something the size of a battleship."

A nearby group of brutish and drunken men overheard the barman, and surrounded you. They started provoking Starbeard. "Look at that loser who can't even afford a drink." "Just lookin' at 'im is making me feel poor."

One spit in his beer and poured it on the (temporarily) ex-space pirate while shouting "Have a drink mate!", cuing all the men to laugh. That was not going to end well.

"Huh? Was this not the way I came from? Am I lost? Eh, no matter! I'll find my way back, I'm sure of it!"

Sneed came across a tall humanoid who looked like an anthropomorphized bird. He had ecru feathers and yellow eyes.
"Hey kid, are you lost? You look like a tourist, that's not a place where you should be wandering. You could get hurt."

He noticed you were taking pictures of the massive freighter. If he had lips, he would have been smiling.
"Hey, do you like big ships?"

"Typically someone would have wondered why I'm glaring at them by now, and would have asked. Why don't you?"

Not moving an inch, the man answered in a relaxed tone.
"When you live a life like mine, you stop caring 'bout people's glares. Anyway I can help a lady with such intense glare?"

"And what if your estimates of it are wrong, or it's not alone?" asks Thomas. "Our ship is combat capable, but I'm not sure we can take on something the size of a battleship."

"I am absolutely certain that the Riperius will be alone -if we do come across it-. Black Riperii are solitary creatures, they can't stand each other. And as I said, this one is young, it should barely be any bigger than a transporter, and a few shots should scare it off."

Great mistake. A sober space pirate is an angry space pirate. They are all together, drunk and also distracted, easy targets for a slash from my sabre, able to cut ships. Slash at the closest ones, aiming for their necks while quickly shooting at anyone who didn't get hit by my blade in the head. Keep shooting and slashing at the same time until the whole group is dead. If I get disarmed, use punches, kicks and bites. If they get too close, distance myself so they still can get hit by my sabre but at enough distance to not be able to be stabbed or punched. They are drunk so they won't be able to move fast and I don't need luck to win against such idiots.

Once I am done killing those bastards, exit the place and find a place to hide, the closest crew member or run back to the ship.

(With 2 in combat, very high in all physical skills and being armed, this should be easy. I'm more worried that the space cops are probably going to hunt me again.)

Following that, continue gathering information on the station, keeping in mind the alarm raised by the hyperspace dragon.

Cheerfully introduce myself. Ask my new friend what his name is, what species he is, what he does for a living, and what he knows about this freighter. Also let him know that I'm lost and in need of guidance back to my ship. Offer to introduce him to the rest of my crew if he helps me out.
