I need to become active again in this, but I have neither the time nor the inclination to figure things out. I think I'm just going to pop into the strike team as it passes by, because that can totally work.

Also, where are we going to retreat to? We're in a metal coffin that usually floats, and often sinks. Do you expect belowdecks to be safe? The life boats? I recommend that we kill all the things that aren't us, and some things that may have formerly been us (Nazi zombies, after all!), in order to ensure our safety. It always works that way, right?

I forgot to add, 'retreat behind cover'. What we'd do, given what I presume most people have (we have at least 2 automatic weapons), is supression and flanking...err, that depends though on the terrain since I have NO IDEA how the topside of a destroyer looks like other than assuming 'if there's a control room (or anything Radio actually tells me other than 'Nazis on top' :P), then narrow enclosed space = easy firing'.

Wot.
And yes, firing at will is a good idea. Do note that shotguns are useful at range despite most popular FPS games saying otherwise ::) but our best bet is surprise. Also because many players picked the Spy class, and have silenced pistols. They have silenced weapons too, in part. o_O But I don't IC know that.

On the deck of a destroyer is a lot of *stuff*.

There is the central upperworks/control tower, which contains the bridge, a communications room, sometimes (But probably not on a destroyer) a flying bridge which is further above the main bridge (Better visibility), a map room of some sort, and also some sleeping quarters for the highest-ranking officers and communications crewmen, so that they are very close to the bridge proper.

There are the gun turrets and anti-aircraft/anti-MTB machinegun and autocannon mountings spread around.

And there's always things like the anchor capstans and other bits of thick metal you can hide most of yourself behind.

This is just a little background knowledge and some deductions, so, Tiruin, you probably ought to go look at (I probably ought to do the same) the cutaway picture that I think piecewise posted in the thread. That will probably be the best way to see what's on top of a destroyer's deck.

Just thought I'd throw this out here:

((I checked your sheet and where is your starter equipment?! :-\))
((He is equipment.))
Yeah, I put him in on a dare.

I mean, he's the key to all this. If we get Radio working, because he's a funnier character than we've had in any of the other games.

Yeah I noticed that :P My imagination went 'LET'S PLUG HIM INTO THE SHIP SO HE CAN PILOT THE WHOLE DARN THING LIKE AN AI' but Tala is going "Dang that's some hot bodypaint. Look at that sleek design, that wonderful woofer system, those polished buttons..." because I literally did not expect a human with a head for a radio. :v

Try to think of something helpful to do that nobody else is doing and that's relevant to my skills. And then do that. While dragging Carolina around to shoot at things.

((Carolina is with my team, at least as far as I've been tracking her. ALSO YOU HAVE MECHANIC'S TOOLS AND THE OPERATOR/MECHANIC SKILL. THAT IS BLOODY USEFUL.
Have you not thought about that and instead became frustrated at Piecewise for doing what you actioned? :-\ Although the dream was out of character for Alice. .-.;
We passed by the HQ as a call out to the rest of you too! So you can acknowledge you were informed..))

Everyone is following everyone in a giant blob of useless-and-impossible-to-follow. The main group is now not something I'm willing to figure out, so I'm going to go do something else.

-.-
That came off very superficial--especially when you say 'useless and impossible to follow', but the main group is at the comms station, which people are very much able to go to, which implies you didn't care to follow up? :-\

There's always the danger under deck though. I'm unsure if there was a group going for that other than some volunteers I've heard. That, and you're assuming Nazis.

"Any word, Radioman? Can you transmit any response out loud?" Tala said, awaiting his response as the group traveled to the comms room. "Please don't tell me we're facing the same static."

I don't think we're in the same location, and I don't think I can really justify suddenly barging outside into the hailstorm because my spidey sense told me someone wanted to talk. So I'll hold off on responding for now.

I thought you were with us? @_@
I was wondering if you would broadcast (like, at your 'lowest' volume maybe, so only us can hear), and we'd roll for language skills to interpret. Because as far as I know radios back then, nobody knows if others are listening given the context of what radios are...available. Other than human radios.

And without a response, I may be cut off in chatting with you because we're out in the storm. :P

I am currently near Ed and the other people planning to blow up the floor beneath the bridge:
Quote
You take the Rifle and go hang with Ed.

Your people are currently outside in the hailstorm trying to open the door to comms. We are not in that position:
Quote from: Your group
So what I'm gonna do is assume you perform your turn, sending that one NPC off to inform the people in HQ of whats going on while you lead the others through the storm over to the comm's door.
Quote from: Our group
Quote
Head inside, to the area just below the bridge, and rig up an explosive to the ceiling.
I'm going to assume that the information that Tala and a few other people saw, that of human figures moving down out of the bridge, will have been passed along to you. You still set up the explosive, but you don't set it off.

I cannot communicate with the rest of 888th through radio right now:
Quote
You try to contact the 888th radio bands and find that while they are still blocked, the interference pattern has changed. Now what was once entirely unintelligible is just barely understandable as speech, though in a language you can't understand. Its that same Slavic language that you heard on the Nazi radio before, the same voice too, you think.

The idea right now is to just try and disrupt their comms by blaring over it. Might not do all that much, might not work at all, but if it does it should be funny. And it's not like we desperately need another rifle to point at the enemy right now, so might as well annoy the Nazis.

Can't you also receive their signal? As far as I know, that doesn't disrupt you from interrupting them but speaking it to the others here as a two-way radio...person, helps.

People with LANGUAGE skills can interpret. :3 That was my plan anyway, if you were with us.

I am wondering why nobody's just gunning the guys down with one of the machineguns mounted around the ship.  Destroyers don't have the armor to stop those bullets, and you know where they are..

Heavy rainy weather. At the degree of 3rd/4th storm signal. :-\

Although I'm assuming these things, I'm unsure how to get to a machinegun nest, and I'm also assuming it's open air, or at least the gun is, so these weathers may not help that much.

Actually I'll note that IC, so anyone probably with Rifle/Operator (I still have no idea what skill governs those other than the ones that affect the BAR) can get to it.
