I was kinda-sorta-maybe-possibly thinking of making a vampire ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So a PF along the lines of "this character takes effective damage from Fire" and a PS that involves regaining HP by killing enemies. Just for examples.

Bio: A boy as young as Henry shouldn't be as experienced a fighter as he is. Originally the son of an apothecary in Norcliffe, his small town - more of a village that cropped up around a wayfarer's resting point - was less than a day's travel from Becker Pass on the border of Lorgen; when the pass was taken by a large gang of bandits, his home was engulfed in war by that night. Grabbing a fallen militiaman's helmet (for protection; it was all he had time to take), some herbs from his father's shop, and the hatchet his father used for gathering plants, Henry fought his way through the carnage with the only remaining survivors - his heavily wounded older brother Girard and his scared little brother Eric, carrying the older one on his back as he went. He fought his way out of Norcliffe, getting himself and his siblings as far as he could each night and finding a place to hide during the day - just in case.

Eventually the trio of siblings fell in with a mercenary troop called the Defense Force, where he was basically given a suit of armor and told to get back out there since he was a competent healer and had experience fighting. He didn't like the fact that the Defense Force left villages to save themselves unless they paid - in his opinion - exorbitant fees, and as soon as he made enough money to set up Girard and Eric, he quit and instead took up with the Shields of Caermo - they did good, honest work, and it was a good way to make sure no one had to go through what he had.

As for who he is, no one really seems to know. He hasn't been seen with his helmet off since he's gotten it, so his age and face can only be guessed at though he does sound to be in his mid-to-late teens - which makes sense, as Norcliffe fell four years ago. He's about 6' tall and a bit gangly and thin, though he's actually fairly strong and swift from fighting. He's not exactly a loner, but he tends to stick by himself when given leave, reading or writing letters to his brothers. It is known that he sends most of his pay back to them to pay for their lodging and upkeep, since the Shields take care of most of his needs. He's friendly enough when approached, though often seems lost in thought when immediate action is not required.

Bio: Simon discovered how it felt to wander the streets aimlessly at a young age, after a bandit raid ruined his life. Back in that day, taking what supplies and little coin the inhabitants of the growing village had to offer hadn't been enough for the brigands, and in the end some of the healthiest villagers were rounded up to be used for forced labor or sold away. While his parents managed to hide him during the abduction, they weren't as lucky. With his mom and dad gone it was hard for Simon to live on, at least until the priests of the village's church chose to adopt him, hoping to give him a better future. While he was taught how to write and read as well as general knowledge, they also taught him about light and darkness, as well as about the entity they worshiped and hoped to arrive to assist them during times of need.

During his teenage years Simon was taught how to use a weapon; Light magic instead of a sword or an axe. That made him confused, considering the priests apparently had the resources to fight back the intruders and yet chose to not act. And yet again after a few years there was another raid, but this time the number of brigands was much smaller and Simon was the first to show up. Since the bandits weren't expecting any resistance, he had the element of surprise in his favor and managed to take down a few of them before the others retreated. His actions bothered the priests as they went against their beliefs; he should simply have waited for their enlightened superior being to judge those bandits instead of fighting them. Simon chose to leave the village right after that, because in his mind there was only one way to handle those constant attacks: purify the intruders. And he has a very twisted concept of what "purification" actually means.

But such task was too big for him to achieve so easily and worse yet, alone. That was yet another good reason for him to leave his hometown; to look for a new place to hone his skills. And that's when he heard about the Shields of Carmo, a group that was willing to fight back against the encroaching chaos and bring some semblance of order to the country. That was just the opportunity he'd been looking for.

Bio: Nuallán is the fourth child and third son to a growing family, born in a state that had certainly seen better days. While the Subhne name had decades ago evoked wealth and power in the family's home region, close to the woodlands, its fortunes had changed during the civil war, when most of their riches were squandered. The then patriarch spent most of the household's wealth in a risky gambit to try and safeguard the bloodline's future no matter the victor, sinking fortunes into both sides in different places. In the end there were no victors and no compensations of any kind, and the Subhne were forced to lick their wounds for several years to come.

Though diminished, it wasn't like they stood around doing nothing. The family still had a state and could survive fairly well, even if they were impoverished compared to their former selves and had to deal with the problems of its surrounding villages. Back in the worst days some of the family actually began to learn some more dignified commoner activities like crafting on top of the learning that was expected of them. Since then, things have actually improved and Nuallán arrived to a household that's restructuring and trying to get back on its feet.

Nuallán grew healthy and happy, playing with the children of the house's remaining servants and studying diligently to become a child worthy of his family name. When the time came to take up a weapon and train, most of his brothers and sisters either chose swords and spears to duel and attack from horseback or picked up magic, befitting a line with a fame for being fiery. The boy was the odd one out and ended up falling in love with the bow; its range, its power and the elegance of the movements used to fire an arrow captivated him. He was quick to fire witty jabs at anyone who questioned his choice of weapon—siblings included—and when unmoving targets became boring he started to join hunting parties to bag game and train his archery.

It soon became clear that Nuallán was both extremely confident in his skill with bow and arrow as well as very patient, an odd trait compared to many of his hot-headed siblings. He could lay, unmoving, for hours before springing an ambush onto a wild animal. Of course he wasn't as good a shot as the experienced hunters, but he improved quickly and what had started as something to hone his archery skills became a true hobby. Unfortunately, his joy was ruined by banditry. Though the bandits had always been a bother thanks to the breakdown of law enforcement that came with the civil war, they'd been getting more daring. When the criminals started to deplete game from the forest right by the Subhne estate, that was when Nuallán finally lost his cool. He mustered a group of hunters and started to ambush the brigands until they finally escaped the woods, but that wasn't enough.

Feeling like he wouldn't be free to practice his archery and hunt until some semblance of peace was restored to the country, Nuallán joined the Shields of Caermo. Contrary to expectations, despite his haughtiness and confidence he doesn't belittle the lowborn in the Shields' ranks. His family's past means they created a bond with their servants that's closer than normal for noble families as a survival mechanism. Nuallán actually spent part of his childhood playing games with peasant children, which controls part of a highborn's inherited superiority complex. His snarky comebacks might also sting, but so far he has avoided any major incidents.

Despite what's expected from an archer and his tall and thin figure, Nuallán has strength in places other than his arms. His hunting hobby means that he's constantly climbing trees, trekking through the woods and maybe running away from a ferocious critter if things go pear-shaped (he refuses to admit if the last ever happened).

And which classes are you talking about, SB? First classes? I tend to only take promoted classes in account.
