I hope the people who wanted those bugs fixed before release are proud of themselves. We could be playing a bug-riddled first release RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
*considers hundreds - if not thousands - of posts on tree-dwarves/invincible undead/wear crash being posted over years, to the point of people deciding to cut down all trees/not play evil biomes/not use weapon trap (component)s just to not have the feature*

*compares it to waiting an additional week or two*

Worth it.

Though I'ven't bothered to report things on mantis myself.

In any case, unless some bugs spiral out of control during this final period, I think we could finally have a release on our hands, this or the next week I think.

Hasn't this been said every week since about three after 43.05s release?

Am I mistaken, or are all bugs fixed according to changelog?

Nevermind, I was looking at Mantis only.

Don't worry.  Every time you say it, it's very slightly more likely to be true :-)

The last Sunday before the release was unbearably long. I welcome the new week, the week of the 2017 build!

You may choose not to believe this but I straight up had a dream that this thing finally came out today (and I was super eager to go and inform my DF friends on my Discord servers about it as soon as I found out).

Needless to say, reality quickly crushed that when I woke up.

Well, my new computer just arrived, so it's fine to go ahead with the release now. Looking forward to tomorrow's announcement.  :)

Welp. We'll see if we get DF2017 or DF2018. As much as I've joked that "we'll be lucky to get a release this year at all" I'm honestly really fuckin' relieved that the latest delays are due to bugfixes, with the major "add this stuff" delays out of the way for as far as we know/

These two bugs are surely giving Toady a headache.

I used to actively develop PC games and can say unequivocally that bug squashing and QA takes just as long as main development. It's a little easier for Toady since it's not a commercial release and standards(external, not his own) are lower. For commercial games you have to be sure that your game works on the last 6 OS versions for at least PC and Mac plus the Linux crowd. All of the possible permutations for hardware configurations and driver versions turn a difficult task into a nightmare.

On second thought, given the complexity of interweaving simulations and dependencies in DF, it's pretty much the same. He deserves more than my meager financial contribution.

Time to step it up.

I'd just like to state for the record, when I said I didn't want it to come out November 3rd because of .hack, I was hoping it'd come out before, not after, and I really didn't mean for it to not be released for weeks after (even if I am still playing).

So I apologize for that. :p
