If you time it right, that's immunity to most blunt damage, because you'll be very light. Villain hits you into a wall? No problem, just transform and bounce harmlessly off.

1944. Hitler's beach vacation. One man, his wits, and his ability to transform into a beach ball at will stands between Nazi Germany and total global domination.

This is the story of... INFLATRATOR. *Theme Music*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Alright, let us set that as the stage. Beach ball vs nazi army.

Suppose a soldier catches this beach ball transformer and puts it in a prison cell, to be executed in the morning. How can we twist the power in such a way that this cell can be escaped, while holding true to the core idea behind it: that you can turn into a beach ball?

We're gonna have to take a few liberties here. I guess we can assume the ball can roll on its own, so that's a start.

Can it also deflate on its own? If so, beach ball builds momentum, bounces off floor and deflates in midair. Glides through cell bars. Turns into man on other side.

Beachball man inflates to amazing size, exploding the cell from within.

Constructs makeshift trebuchet, and uses it to fling beachball self at high speed. Immediately after flinging, transforms back into a man of much higher mass, but having the same speed, thus conjuring kinetic energy out of nothing. Man then flies with high energy into the cell door, busting it open and avoiding injury using comic book physics.

Man transforms into a beachball in cell. Nazi soldiers, not knowing of his power, think he's escaped and open the cell to search it. Transforms into man and kung-fu's the nazis.

INFLATRATOR has escaped his cell.

INFLATRATOR is grabbed from behind by NAZI SOLDIER #1.

NAZI SOLDIER #2 readies a punch.

INFLATRATOR transforms into a BEACH BALL just before the punch hits.

BEACH BALL uses the force to bounce off NAZI SOLDIER #2's face, knocking him out (insert coconut bonk sound) and turns back into INFLATRATOR to finish his fistfight with NAZI SOLDIER #1 using his BEACH-FU.

Can it also deflate on its own? If so, beach ball builds momentum, bounces off floor and deflates in midair. Glides through cell bars. Turns into man on other side.

Like how Ant-Man will take a running start and turn small while still moving. +1

This character is basically a shitty ant-man. Except if he really carries the same velocity when he transforms, you could use him to create free energy.

Uh, he's basically the BEST CHARACTER. Here is a list of things he does better than Ant-Man.

1: Hide in pools
2: Save boring beach parties
3: Perform expert-level feats of medieval siege engineering
4: Swim, probably
5: Confuse sea life into thinking he is food
6: Entertain at children's parties?
7: Absorb minor blunt force but nothing sharp, please.
8: Roll down villainous inclines.
9: And many more!!!

This character is basically a shitty ant-man. Except if he really carries the same velocity when he transforms, you could use him to create free energy.

The thing about many super powers is that they already break that law of physics and create energy out of nothing. I mean, just think of telekinetics, who can pick up objects with their mind, seemingly using no physical force of their own. Since many of them can then just throw these objects, that's kinetic force out of nothing because no energy was used to throw the ball, just a thought.

Can it also deflate on its own? If so, beach ball builds momentum, bounces off floor and deflates in midair. Glides through cell bars. Turns into man on other side.

That works. Now here comes the tricky questions. Can he reflate after deflating, or reflate after being popped? And if not, will turning into a human and then back into a ball make him a deflated ball if he was popped before turning into a man, DF werewolf style?

Reinflate after deflating: Yes
Reinflate after popping: No. Must transform back.
Always transforms into an intact beach ball, either deflated or inflated.
If beach ball form total mass ever reaches less than 50% (torn in half, etc.), he dies in beach ball form.
If he is injured, then turns into a beach ball, then turns back, his human form is still injured.

These are my votes.

That makes perfect sense. That means he can survive a gunshot if it hits him in beach form too, and theoretically, if he is shot in human form, he can switch to ball form to avoid bleeding out.

Other thoughts:
A beach ball is essentially an non-living thing. It does not require food, water or oxygen. It does not age.

As we've already established he can survive popping and deflation, issues with survival at extremely high or low pressures are basically negligible. He would presumably melt at high temperatures, but extreme cold would theoretically cause no lasting damage.

New mission proposal: Deep space exploration.

(Somehow we've arrived at tardigrades again... :P)

Essentially, immortality so long as he remains a beach ball.

In a superpower RP forum, I'm playing a character who has instant and total knowledge of any action taken with the intent to harm someone else and any such action that has ever been performed.
Like Elva in the Inheritance Cycle?

What happens to his clothes, also? It's one thing to transform into a beachball. It's another to be incapable of escaping the clutches of your arch-nemesis - your own clothes - afterwards.
