Spoiler: Project (click to show/hide)

To the other assistants: "Well, umm, yes, that can happen. Somebody get that man's body over to Medical, please. Heh. At least we figured out that the ditanium works pretty well for this. Would've been bad if we had to start competing with Glass over the transfite stores or something... Get on comms with the Fleet, the Diplomatic Department, and the Night Raiders, see if there's anything they need from . If not, I'll be prepping Bay 11."
Eglan preps Bay 11 with LOTS of insulation, and sets up his array of monitoring devices. (Experiment in preparation for the project, will do next turn, most likely)
Attempt another miniaturized version, but use it against a nonliving target, and by remotely pulling the trigger.

Spoiler: Tav Kelleran (click to show/hide)

Goal:
Tav attempts to discreetly make black market contacts on the dominions non-capital world(marien 6?).

Preparations:
The Starfarer will try to appear to be an independent trader.(Is it possible to jump out and back in from a different direction to be seen ariving separately from the fleet?)

If it's authorized, bring some generic trade goods to sell as cover.

Turn two
Saraket: Shields, no negative modifier. Experiment of testing materials :2 You test various materials for shields, but upon discovering a great material that could be used for shields (you decide), an excited flap of your wings sends a fusion generator flying and before you know it there is a minor explosion and the material you need is all destroyed. But at least you know what it is! (A rare metal or nonmetal.) Still +0 towards the invention, but you have a greater chance of a successful experiment.

Admiral Katsuo: -3  to ceasefire negotiations due to hostilities and the boarding of their battlecruiser. What do you offer them, what are your bargaining points? (Will take at least 3 good ones, but more than that will give you bonus points to negotiations.

Captain Deepbloom: Your transmission reaches the Hera, and that data is sent over. A response is received. “Excellent work, Captain! There is going to be a medal in this for you! For now, don’t move on the pirate base, President wants to know what is going on around the rebel planet. Leave a survey ship to keep tabs on the pirates, however.

Gumo: First experiment: 6 (giving you +2) You manage to create a true wireless signal in between the rudimentary “nanocomputers you have made so far. Total modifier for nano counters: 0
Do you decide to create the first version of nano computers, or continue with an experiment?

Eglan: First experiment: 1 Upon entering Bay 11, you are greeted with sight of instead of a fully insulated room, one that has been fully stripped of any and all kind of insulation. Your assistants can offer no explanation except that he must have misheard you.
2nd experiment: 3+1=4 You decide anyways to test another miniature version against a mechanical dummy. Using very small amount of ditanium, you put model of the gun onto a model ship, and fired. It worked out pretty well, frying the wiring of the dummy, but it required a lot of power to do so. Probably too much for a handheld version unless you try to pursue cutting down the power requirements later. +1 to your project.

Tav Kelleran: You make a few jumps to make sure that no one connects you to the Randiri fleet. When you jump in and make your way to Marien VI, (5) no one questions your story of being an independent trader. When you land at the main port of Marien VI, in the city of New Ridgem you attempt to make contacts with with the local black market. (6+1). Which you easily do. You are quickly brought to the local crime boss, who seems eager to make trades and is excited to make a contact with a someone with has a fast ship. You (and the fleet) gain a bonus of +10 to “shady” or exotic goods.

James Avalon: Back at the Hera, you make plans to fight the pirates. The first step to doing that is getting your ship repaired. You fill out the necessary forms, and the shipyards of the Hera are set to work on the Valravn, using 750 units of metal and 450 inorganic material. It will be ready by next week (next turn).
How do you bring the fight to the pirates?

Amelia: You are able to have a quick repair of the Tiamat done at the cost of 250 metal, and 125 inorganic material. Total material costs so far are 1000 metal and 600 inorganic to repair the ships. Due to Tav Kelleran’s efforts you are able to send an unmarked cargo ship to Marien VI to trade (20,000 units space). You can get material worth up to +20 for “free”, due to your IC worth, but any higher than that costs 1 IC per each 10 points.

Yzari Redbranch: You organize your troops, and order them to prepare traps throughout the ship. (6) Your men take to the action, with gusto, organizing mines, tripwires, killzones. When the enemy comes, they will be in a world of hurt.

(6+2) The Dominion marines come in waves from their boarding ships, only to be cut down by cleverly hidden machine gun nest. They attempt to flank the nests, only to blown apart by explosive mines. Once they clear the mines with enough bodies, they enter the machine gun nests only to find them empty, and a proximity mine. The Dominion marines only make it halfway through the traps your men have set up, and having lost hundreds of men, they have no heart to continue any further. They withdraw to the docking bays, terrified and much reduced in number, leaving behind scores of bodies.

The command crew you brought over from the frigate tells you that they can redirect power to either the weapons or the engines. What do you choose, and where do you go?

Admiral Marloss: Once you are boarded, you give the order to surrender the ship. Dominion marines round up the surviving crew members and bring them to the docking bay. You and your command staff are then boarded aboard a shuttle, destined for the capital planet.

Spoiler: character sheet (click to show/hide)

"Acknowledged tac-comm, heading for rebel space and keeping a local eye, Deepbloom out."
"Deepbloom to recon 3, stick here and watch the pirates, stay out of trouble okay? Rest of you follow me, lets see what 7 holds."

The Erikson and two survey ships head to the Rebel world, the Erikson ceases battlestations when the pirates are no longer in sensor range, one survey ship remains watching the pirates.
Upon arrival around Marien VII start scanning for any hostiles and proceed towards the planet with caution but not hostility, if hailed reply with a statement that we come in peace and were interested in local news amongst other things.

Spoiler: Yzari (click to show/hide)

All we did was trade battlecruisers, we need to make them really hurt.  All power to weapons!

Goal: Attempt to destroy the enemy cruisers and frigates nearby.

Attack as soon as possible to prevent the enemy ships from retreating.  Use missiles on the frigates and the ship's main cannons to destroy one of the cruisers.

Secure boarding craft before all of the enemy escape for future use by the skyjumpers.

Spoiler: Project (click to show/hide)

Alrighty then. Since B11 just got entirely uninsulated, move to Bay 12 and get it right. Full insulation and assemble a ship mockup, simulating armor, electronic shielding, etc. Or just grab a suitable piece of scrapped frigate, if we have one of those lying around.
Then, it's time to get this project moving. Set up a prototype and zap the target.

Admiral Katsuo attempts to negotiate a peace treaty & reparations for the damages caused by the dominion on the Randiri fleet including the mutual transfer of prisoners and for the dominion to pay for the repairs and/or replacement of any Randiri ships damaged in the skirmish. The following points being used to help his argument for such:

  • Firstly, the Randiri fleet has reinforcements arriving right now; the scattered dominion task forces likely needing more time to intercept meaning that we have the military advantage in the engagement in both ships and marines. Furthermore, the Randiri fleet has more ships it can commit to the fight if necessary.
  • Secondly, the Admiral notes that he is perfectly willing to instead direct this force at the rebels, particularly if the Dominion was to bankroll the repairs for the siege cruiser after returning it to the Randiri fleet; it's unlikely the rebels have as much military strength as the dominion and the vessel would be perfectly suited to annihilating the chain of command for the rebels. While the dominion could use it, the time it would take the dominion to train a crew up would cost them the advantage of surprise with the vessel.
  • Thirdly, it seems as if the Dominion battlecruiser has been boarded by Randiri marines and have failed to capture it. An agreement to return the ship can be reached if a ceasefire or peace treaty is established.
  • Lastly, a certain bit of verifiable information has been reported back to Katsuo, information which if the empire received would almost certainly anger them immensely. If the dominion would rather not have this information reach the empire they had best offer some rather... favourable terms to the Randiri as failure to do so means that the empire would have to intervene. Hinted at is the fact that the data is not just within the Randiri military and should something cause peace talks to break down, the empire is going to know exactly what the dominion is up to.

A message reaches Admiral Katsuo from the bridge of the captured battle cruiser.

We are currently attempting to cripple the remaining forces, after which we will demand surrender of the remaining cruiser and return of the "Sinkable".  The outcome is uncertain but current Skyjumper doctrine would be to destroy the "Sinkable" if possible, when in position to do so, as it is both damaged and in the hands of the enemy.  Any change in circumstances. such as a cease fire, should be broadcast to us immediately, as we are currently operating under total war tactics.

The Skyjumper troops and ship officers will follow any orders to stand down in the event of a cease fire.

Get all NR ships in position for launch and attack on the pirate base, but wait for the conclusion of diplomatic affairs with the Dominion before launch.

Captain Deepbloom:
Sensor report of Marien VII. Dominion battlecruiser Agoniser in orbit above planet, complement of 4 cruisers and 6 frigates. There are a few wreckages in orbit around the planet as well. They are formed into a blockade pattern above the planet. There is a large station above the planet, with a shipyard constructing 2 cruiser sized vessels, and numerous ports. The moon has no atmosphere, but appears to have a base on it.
Marien VII itself is mostly water, dotted with islands with one large continent, where most of the population lives. Great cities and factories sprawl over the countryside, but great fires burn across the planet, most likely from the fires of war.
While watching, the battle cruiser with 3 cruisers and 2 frigates break off and make way to leave the gravity well of the planet, in the general direction of the capital planet.
As it appears the ships around the planet are potentially hostile, your ships wait for further instructions. Do you go in closer for more information?

Admiral Katsuo:
3:
The negotiations go fairly well. You are connected straight to the Circle of the Emperor, and they agree to a ceasefire. They also agree to hand over the captives, as long as you release their battlecruiser and all aboard. They also ask for a confirmation on the data, but they assure you that if you have the data that you say they have, they will surely offer many credits once you leave the system.
Your fleet enters the gravity well, and you broadcast the ceasefire to all Randiri forces. Fighting stops, and you bring the process of getting all the the Skyjumpers and crew members aboard.  The Goulden Empire fleet, a cruiser and 2 frigates, come and enforce the ceasefire. However, the Dominion is moving slowly, and the frigate that boarded the Sinkable is still attached to it.

You then receive a communication from the Sinkable. One of the crew members escaped, and retrieved comms equipment. He reports that the Dominion are attempting to hack into the Sinkable data system, and are torturing crew members to get the system open. You ask for more detail, but the transmission is cut off.

Yzari:
You and your men prepare for leaving the boarded cruiser, but await for final confirmation before abandoning your defensive positions.

Eglan:
Your assistant, successfully this time, turns the hold into a mockup for the arc cannon. +1 on the roll, leaving total modifier of 0.
You assemble the prototype, using ditanium to craft the weapon, and hooking up the weapon to the ship’s main power core.
(6) Which works beautifully. Describe the effects of the weapon, and which class of ship it is (mainly) designed for.

Gumo: Total modifier for nanocomputers: 0
Roll ( 2). Unfortunately, the nanocomputers didn’t turn out like you wanted. Pick one

A.You made minicomputers, not significantly smaller than what is already available, but they run better than anything you got in the fleet.
B. You made very rudimentary nanocomputers, they can do basic math. Assemble them into the size of a regular computer and… well they can match its speed.
C. You somehow transferred you consciousness into a small packet of nanocomputers. All of your mental facilities are still intact, but if you add more nanocomputers your abilities will expand greatly. Which might be difficult considering your body is lying dormant just a few meters away, comatose.

James Avalon: Your ships are reported reay, and your flagship is quickly repaired, though a bit understaffed. You fly out in direction of the pirate base, ready to wreck your revenge. What ships do you bring, and what is your battle plan?

Saraket: Sadly due to your… accident, all the refined amethysts were destroyed. While you wait for your shipment, what do you work on?
