May I suggest gifting a missile system that will allow the satellite-locked planet's citizens to shoot down the satellite themselves? It doesn't bring the pirates' attention on us (at least, not yet), gets us favor among those people, and we can probably salvage the satellite pieces for production.

Unless, of course, the pirates' attention wouldn't really be drawn to the destruction of the satellite, in which case let's take it down ourselves.

Chart a course for the pirate fleet. Turn them to dust, and then WE can extort the early space world

Shoot to disable weaponry, and engines, and life support. That way we won't need to gather broken ship fragments from a large debris field and can instead just haul the ship to the autoforge parts or for refitting for our purposes. On second thought, maintain life support on the large ship so we can capture the pirate's leader.
