I should note that in some cases it may not be a case of them hiding something, and more you are asking on the topic that the design description is of only limited use in making a response.

As a summary of what occurred during the meeting, the Engineers have introduced a new rifle that is able to strike at greater range for more damage, but is slower than existing muskets and is far more expensive.  A request has been issued to reduce these downsides.

Okay, how about if we stagger our forces so as to have two lines of Leapfrog fire operating concurrently, with two lines firing, one right after the other, and two other 'formations', each composed of two lines, behind the first, repeating the process. Not sure if this is in any way at all well-described.

We add trainingto fall to the ground without falling onto each other or blocking one another's firing lines. To allow them to quickly fall into a defensive posture if overwhelmed. Obviously we would wish them to be versed in rapidly reassembling the formation afterwards.

 We attempt to compress the formation to increase concentration of fire.

Reverse leapfrog:
 We train them to leapfrog while withdrawing...

Coordinated Leapfrog:
We establish that this formation is only to be used while on the offensive.
