A medium-sized contingent of Parsian horsemen, both lightly and heavily armored, dove suicidally against your Army just a day away from Karasau. THe feverish and careless assault they've made against your forces did cause almost two thousand of Methiantese casualties, but some attribute it to current switch in battlefield tactics.

Still, the battle ended in victory for your Army anyways. The surviving Parsians fled, but many were subsequently chased down by your own cavalry.

Your Army has begun the siege of Karasau few days after this battle.

1167 AD, Midsummer

The siege of Parsian capital continues; all attempts to negotiate have been rejected by the Parsians.

1167 AD, Late Summer

Karasau siege continues, while smaller contingents are looting and besieging smaller cities and keeps of importance in the north, south and west of Parsia.

You receive news that administrators of the southern Khosra province, the part with gold mines that was sold to Shapur, has willingly welcomed the governance of your military officers. The latter's report claims that these men, Ceodwellians by either name or blood, have always been a bit uneasy feeling as Parsian subjects, and are ready to abandon their lawful employer and flock under your banner. Apparently, many of people living there currently are expressing similar sentiment.

Sieges continue. Scouts and agents report that nowhere there's any cohesive unit of Parsian army attempting to regroup; all your soldiers have to deal with is random raiding parties and small troops of soldiers hiding in villages amongst commonfolk.

The latest harvest feast at your palace has been truly spectacular. Sixteen peacocks, eighteen variations of wheat soup and stew. And all those greens, pickled, marinated, cooked and baked! Delicious.

The evening afterwards, as you undress, you cannot help but stare at your belly. Your wife teasingly poking your flesh doesn't help matter.

Have you gained weight recently?

A) The empire's prosperous and my subjects are well-fed, why shouldn't I feast well too?
B) This is unbeckoning of Emperor! I must begin fasting immediately!
C) Truly, it means I'm leading a leisurely life. How about I do some hunting? Wrestling? Traveling?
