Which is reasonable, lots of slightly different ships based on a core design were developed during WW2.  A  lot of them were single or small batches that ended up not too useful but it was a really common thing for all sides to experiment with.

Fun fact: some types of radar/radiation absorbing material was invented and used during the second world war.  Could use our revision to use it on our planes and ships to screw with Canalla.

Depth-charges are a not-terrible idea. They could be effective against very light vessels that get very close.

I think it would be better to get a destroyer or PT boat to do that, seeing that subs are what depth charges where basically made for, and that it would be better for fast, maneuverable ships to target the submarines that can shoot torpedoes at them instead of larger slower ships which would have a harder time dodging. That, and if a surface ship get's that close for depth charges to be useful, its probably better to just broadside them with all cannons.

You can also use depth-charges against torpedoes. Also, I am pretty sure that this is, in fact, a destroyer. A cruiser would be suited to independent operations, which this doesn't really seem to be. Just because this is a very large destroyer, and it defines "torpedo boat" rather generously, doesn't mean that its purpose is anything other than keeping smaller vessels away from larger vessels. Tired of hearing about outdated Khornes killing off Forenian sailors, the United Forenian Naval High Command commissioned this vessel. Built using all our knowledge, and some borrowed from other countries, the result was the Cataphract-class Cruiser.

The armor scheme relies on the all-or-nothing citadel method, protecting the engines and magazines, with armor capable of stopping a Cannalan 6-inch gun at long-medium range. Outside the citadel, there is only light armor. There is a medium-armor torpedo belt to protect against their torpedoes. The deck is composed of two layers, an armored deck capable of catching 6-inch plunging fire at any range, and a splinter deck below that capable of stopping any weakened shells or bomb fragments that penetrate. The goal is for the ship's 6-inch immunity zone to extend from minimum right out to maximum range. The ship itself is extremely heavily compartmentalized, with an excellent pumping system to reduce flooding fast enough to allow for damage control parties to respond.

The armament is three triple 150mm gun turrets, medium armor on the turrets themselves, with medium-armored mangalloy (One unit manganese maximum, prioritizing ammo-storage areas if we run short) trunks extending into the ship's citadel to provide extra protection. The mangalloy lightens the weight, allowing for faster traversal at similar levels of armor protection. The magazines are provided with a flooding mechanism in case of nearby fire, ruining the powder but likely saving the ship. The main battery is controlled from a central Director position, high up on the main mast. The turrets are aimed from there, and fired when, in the Director's opinion, they're on target. This revolution is as-of-yet unused in our navy, and provides incredible improvements to long-range gunfire.

Antiaircraft armament is composed of 12 Bumblebees in dual-purpose two-gun shielded turrets, capable of firing at aircraft or at fast MTBs or similar small vessels, three such turrets on each side. There are also multiple antiaircraft batteries scattered around the command tower and deck of the ship, composed mainly of autocannons for shooting down planes that have wandered too close. Several of the batteries have firing angles capable of hitting nearby ships such as torpedo boats or other targets of opportunity.

For propulsion, as many oil-fired steam turbines as necessary were fitted into the ship, to make it capable of 30 knots.

UFN-CA-41 Catraphract:
The Cataphract is a cruiser built to rival Cannala's ships. It is armed with 3x3 150mm gun turrets, each using a fully electrified loading system based on the moderately-performing Overcompensator, except that the 60kg shells are moved in one piece. Each gun can fire 8 times a minute. It has an armored citadel with 300mm of nickel-steel armor, and a torpedo belt as well. The deck is also heavily armored, at 120mm to defend against plunging fire, plus an extra splinter deck. The turrets are similarly armored but take advantage of mangalloy for greater durability. There is a central director in the con tower which controls all the electrically-driven turrets, though there is no advanced firing calculator. Additionally there are three turrets with two bumblebees on each side of the ship, capable of firing on aircraft or ships, and miscellaneous autocannons wherever there is room. It is powered by oil-burning steam turbines, and there are a lot of them though with its considerable armor it only musters moderate speed. [5 Ore (1Mn), 4 Oil]

Rocket Catapults, though decent in theory and very much in the spirit of Forenia, simply aren't doing their job correctly.  The top deck and lower deck of the Z now use Steam Catapults for launching aircraft, and no longer requiring expensive, dangerous, smoke-producing rockets to launch aircraft.  Even worse, the use of rockets increases the oil cost!  Switching to a more reliable steam catapult should theoretically lower the oil cost of the Z.

The Wasp Nest is also retrofitted with a steam catapult to allow heavier aircraft to be launched, and more rapidly.

Oh, and we fix the suspension in the Z so aircraft hanging from the rafters no longer smash about.  A simple matter of replacing the ropes or bungee cords or whatever we're using with actual steel rails.

A decent cruiser with air superiority could - possibly - push their naval advantage down to just normal.

Uhhh.... Okay. I think that MIGHT be overarmoured for a light cruiser. On the flip side it should take a hell of a lot to sink while giving return fire. Add to that it's cheaper than the khorne... Well, Cannala is in for a nasty surprise.

Gods damned, both are very useful revisions. But I would say get the Firing calculator now and the carrier overhaul next turn if nothing drastic happens.

Ehh, steam catapults are not that useful of a technology. Could we not try instead to get a better fuel that produces less smoke? Plenty of things burn pretty clean... A better fuel would have wide-ranging benefits too...

Does anyone know anything about rocket fuel? It's not brain surgery...

A few simple tweaks here-and-there can have marvellous results! Just spruce up the uniform with a foil coating and some heat-resistant full-face sunglasses and a little breathing mask. Tune up the flame-thrower with a motor-driven compression-chamber to extend its range, tweak an exhaust pipe a little to build a pulse-jet, add a few mounting on a motorcycle for a wedge of flame-thrower nozzles, a compression chamber, a chilled air-tank, a dash of jet-boosting, a whole massive mess of jungle-proof suspension...
A simple modification to our motorcycles so that they spew fire out both ends...

I suspect the rocketpult is increasing the oil cost of the Z, thus a reason to use steam catapults.

We had a leak, by mistake information about us having designed a new ship was passed on to Cannala, in a way that makes it very clear that it is true.

Keep this in mind for the revision, because they will.
