The voice faded. I could almost believe that nothing had happened.

But I still felt the power within me.

At that point, I examined the power more closely.

The power flowed within me. But there was more to it than a single mass of it. There were channels. Things it could be pushed into and pulled out of, I realized as I moved the power. The channels seemed to want to hold onto the power. I felt if I didn't keep ahold of the power, it would stay there.

But as expected, there was more to it than that. The channels were of different sizes. Each needed a different amount of power to be filled. I didn't have enough power to fill all of them... and even of the ones I could, some I still couldn't fill, because... I didn't have the right connections. Any power I pushed into them seemed to want to go back to the channels that were connected to them which were connected to...

One channel seemed to already be filled. It was the smallest of them all. And the only channels that power would stay in were the channels connected to it.

But there was more to it than that. The channels... they were interconnected. Like some channels were part of other channels. Hm. I would have to think about this.

Assuming I wasn't imagining things, anyways.

I had decisions to make. I decided to push my power into one of the channels connected to the smallest channel.

Nothing seemed to immediately happen, and I was out of power.

I sighed. I still had no proof I wasn't just hallucinating.

I finally decided to get some breakfast. I would take a break from this problem and come back refreshed after eating some chè bắp.

My sociology professor told me that understanding a culture came from living it. Having chosen Vietnamese culture for my project, I was now stuck with Vietnamese food for my meals for the next few days. Today, I had chè bắp for breakfast, a... food... made from corn and rice pudding. It was hard to categorize, but it certainly tasted good.

It was also certainly refreshing.

I glanced at the time on my watch. 8:33, Wednesday.

At that point, I needed to get to class. My first class, Environmental Science was going to start at 9:00. I also needed to wake up my roommate Jody, he was sleeping in as always.
